Vanessa POV
Edward ushered me into the room as he took his jacket off, placing it on the bed. "What is your name darling?" He asked me. I closed the room door and walked over to meet him. Should I tell him my real name? That will risk everything and he will remember. "I'm lady red." "That is so sexy. Your body is amazing too." He complimented. I went closer to him and straddled him while he sat on the bed. I put my arm around his neck and took in his handsomeness. I can't believe I once used to date this man. He is so successful now, and rich. "Are we going to keep talking or are you going to show me what you've got?" I said seductively. Without hesitation, Edward leaned into me for a kiss. I welcomed his advances, sinking my hands into his wonderful hair. His scent smelt the same, but is also enveloped in a more enticing expensive male cologne. Edward Pulled away from the kiss. "Have we met before?" He asked. His tone changed, becoming serious and interrogative. His facial expression changed too, wearing a look of confusion and a sudden familiarity that he had kissed me before. "What do you mean?" I said to him. Immediately getting up with the consciousness that he might take off the mask on my face. He stood up too, placing his hands in his pockets. "Tell me your real name. Now." He demanded. His tone was becoming more serious. For a moment I became scared. "My Clients know me as Lady red Mister." I tried to keep it cool, my heart was racing with fear. "Take your mask off for me darling." He tried a different approach, towering over me with his height and bending down to plant soft kisses on my boobs. "Clients have to pay extra for that." I said to him, softening up at the feeling of his lips on my nipples. He had taken one out of my bra. This man. He was so tempting. He pulled away and brought his gaze back to my masked face. "I'll pay you 10,000 dollars extra just to see that beautiful face. Now please. Take it off." 10k just to see my face? Edward had become so rich over the years. It felt almost too good to be true. I really need this money. Once I gather enough I'll be able to have my own empire. My law firm and fashion industry. Then I'll never have to work at this strip club again. In the dimness of the room light, I took a deep breath, fighting all odds in my mind as I unloosened my mask from my face. Taking it off as it fell to the floor. Edward's eyes widened in complete shock and disbelief. "Vanessa Coleman? Is it really you?" He moved back, slumping on the bed as he sat upright. I reached for the main light in the room and I turned it on. The previously dim room was now fully illuminated. "Suprise!" I said dryly, approaching him as I sat down on the bed in unison with him. "I can't believe it's you." He turned to face me, throwing his arms around me for a hug. I hugged him back. My eyes started to tear up a bit. Lord knows I've missed him too. "How have you been Nessa? Where did you go all this time?" He pulled away from the hug letting his hands remain on my shoulders. "I've been Simply, surviving. Look at you! You're successful! And a billionaire!" I smiled, thinking of so many things that could go wrong from his discovery about me. "How did you know about me being a billionaire?" His mood changed, almost like he wasn't happy with the fact that I called him that. He took his hands off my shoulders. "Do you even know who you are? There is so much gossip and news about you Edward. You're not hard to miss." I replied, scanning the room for my jacket so I could wrap it around me. I felt embarrassed. "Nessa." He called. "Yes?" "Why are you stripping? You graduated top of your class. You shouldn't even be here. I c-" "I need the Money Edward. It's quick money. And relax. I just started working here a month ago." I cut him off. I wasn't ready for his speech. A billionaire like him wouldn't understand how it felt to lack money. "But you could have reached out to me Nessa." He took my hand , pulling me closer. I resisted him. My eyes are tearing up. Old unhealed wounds resurfaced. "We broke up Edward. And you cheated on me remember? Years after college I tried to reach out to you but I never got through. Our circle isn't the same anymore. Did you even try to contact me?" "I did." He whispered, sounding a little guilty and sad. "Well you didn't try hard enough." I broke down into tears completely. Edward threw his arms around me and we hugged. No one knows how rough life has been for me this past 5 years. Edward and I spent the night catching up on the lives we had lived apart. Talking with him reminded me of how much I missed us together. Even though he had his bad side, the good parts of him were magnificent. When morning came, he offered to drop me off by my house with his 2 body guards positioned in the car. The front door opened and my Son came running out after sighting Edward and I from the window. Shit. Why did he come out? "Mommy!" He yelled in excitement, throwing his arms around me. I bent down to embrace him. I glanced at Edward and I could sense his eyes had turned cold and dark. I know he wants to say something. "Hey little buddy, what's your name?" Edward asked, gesturing his hand at my boy for a hand shake. "Liam." He responded shaking Edward as he smiled at him. It's almost like Edward was trying to be sure of what he wants to say before he uttered it. But even a fool would know that Liam was his son from just staring at the two of them. "Honey why don't you go inside and wait for me?" Liam obliged and ran back in Excitedly. "VANESSA!" Edward said hoarsely causing my bones to jolt from within me in fear. "Edward please let me—" "Did we have a Son together?" He cut me off. He looked angry and hurt. This is not how I wanted him to find out. "Edward I know you're upset but please listen." "Yes or no Vanessa? Don't make me repeat myself." He commanded. A tear drop rolled down my cheeks. "Yes." I replied, not knowing would come next. "Then you leave me with no choice." Edward turned away from me, heading for my front door. Was he about to do what I was thinking?Vanessa POV I ran after him, gripping him by the arm. "Edward please, don't take my son away from me." I said, tears building up in my eyes. I never thought my Sunday morning would be like this. Why did Edward have to find out now? He pushed my hand away and turned to me, his face is boiling with anger, his eyes were so scary. It felt like I was staring at a different person. "Your Son? 5 fucking years Vanessa. How could you be so cruel and selfish? Did you hate me so much to keep my son away from me?" I could feel the pain in his voice. "I never wanted to keep him from you Edward. Please just let me explain." I begged not knowing what would come next. Edward looked so angry and devastated. "I'm taking you to court tomorrow. I will gain custody of my son." He began walking away from me and heading towards his car. People on the street were already starting to notice the heated argument and some were staring awkwardly as they passed. I could see Liam standing by t
Vanessa POV Edward's bodyguards helped in loading the SUV with our boxes as I ushered Liam into the car. "Where are we going mommy?" He asked me curiously. I didn't even know what to tell him cause I had no idea of what to expect. But I decided to be hopeful. "We're going to our new home Liam. You're going to love it." I hope my words are true "Yay" he responded to me as he returned his attention to his Nintendo game console. The car stopped and pulled over at a stunning white mansion. It was so beautiful. Nothing like I'd ever seen before in the city of New York. Edward must have just newly acquired this place. It seemed like he was just moving in too. The mansion had big see through gates circled all over it. The design of the gate was very rare and the color was mixed with shiny silver stones like rubies. The gate required a code and had a security camera right outside it. One of the body guards typed it in and the gates flew open, revealing a beautiful garden. The
Vanessa "You live here?" Susan laughed walking closer to me as her eyes scanned my appearance from my head to toe. I may not have much but my fashion style and taste is very classy and expensive. One wouldn't be able to tell I was an average person from just looking at me. I was dressed in a royal blue maxi dress that extenuated my curves and my long red hair was loose and complemented my dress. The only person who didn't appreciate me was Edward. "Yes, I do." i snapped back at her. My mind was roaming all over the place with so many possibilities. "Why?" She asked me. What business is it of hers? "It's complicated. Susan, why are you here?" She was testing my patience . "I'm going out with Edward Silver." She said smoothly, like she didn't know he was my ex and we used to be best friends. We fell out when she moved away from New York to Chicago and couldn't keep up with communication. Now she's back. "Since when?" I asked her, feeling irritated from her words. This thing betw
Vanessa POV2 weeks had passed since I moved in with Edward. He barely stayed at the mansion. Rumor has it from the maids that he spends most of his time in his penthouse. One of the high rise elite buildings in New York.He only came home during the weekends to spend time with his son then he would leave again.Liam was getting used to his new life and fitting in perfectly in his new school. Most children schooling there are rich so they treat each other with respect. Since I quit my job I've had more time to myself.Staring through the tinted window of the SUV, I adore the beautiful city of New York. I send Edward texts and calls every now and then, but he doesn't pick or respond to any.Instead I get texts from an unknown number saying "Stay away from Edward. He doesn't want you." I know Susan is the only one petty enough to do that, and the texts are getting more violent. Is this what I have to put up with for the next 6 months? My phone rang. It's my sister Mandi in the UK. She i
Vanessa POV I stood in the bathroom, brushing my teeth as my mind replayed the little scene that transpired between Edward and I last night. What came over him? And why was I so responsive to his advances? Edward has shown me these past few weeks that he doesn't give a shit about me. Now he suddenly wants to care and gain access to my body? Unbelievable. I couldn't drop Liam off at school today cause of this conference meeting. Edward's driver Donovan did it instead. Edward had left the house earlier at 7 to his penthouse. He told the maids to inform me he had an important zoom call. Why didn't he do the call here instead? After taking a bath, I changed into a black corporate long-sleeve dress. It has flare hands and a high slit at my left upper thigh. After styling my long red hair into a high pony tail, I wrapped it into a donut. Afterwards I decided to touch up my face with some make up. Staring at the finish product in the mirror in front of me, I was certain my looks w
Vanessa POV We sat silently in the Mercedes Benz and drove to the Venue. Not even one word. Just Donovan, playing his music. Edward is playing games with me and I'm not sure I can keep up. I felt like breaking into tears again but I won't give him the satisfaction. I can't keep falling victim of his tricks because my heart still yearns for him. It's time to find a replacement. All the guys I dated after him messed up so I lost hope in finding someone. This time I had to make sure it found a way to work out. I could see tons of people crowding the front building of Edward's Company. The name written boldly at the top of the high rise building. 'Silver Tech and co.' One of the leading and most successful tech and business oriented companies in the world. They are into Technology, Business, Finance, stocks and inventions of some popular electrical appliances here in New York. As we got closer to the entrance, I could see paparazzi ready for action with their cameras and some
Susan POV My eye balls were red and dripping hot tears from the way Edward had just treated me. I got home, throwing myself on my couch as I thought of the best possible way to get rid of Vanessa. Everything started to go wrong for me the moment that bitch showed up again in Edward's life. Before then I had it all, the money, the attention, the sex. I was number one in Edward's eyes. Even if our relationship started off on a contract for sex and money, it couldn't change the fact that he was starting to grow fond of me. Now it all felt non existent. Why is she suddenly back with him anyway? What's the connection between them? I have to do some digging. But before then, I need to make sure she pays for the embarrassment Edward put me through last night and this morning. If I did it myself, it would be too obvious. Drying my tears I reached for my phone. There is this powerful Hitman I know from Chicago. He has men who work for him all over America. "Hi Rodrigo, it's your
Vanessa POV I got home that day, waiting anxiously for Edward. You know what he did? Never showed up. It feels like he's running away from me and avoiding confrontation. It's almost 3 days now and he hasn't showed up in the house. I only tried calling him once but I didn't bother my self too much because he's unavailable. Today is Wednesday and I have a date with Daniel. I dropped Liam at school 4 hours ago so I still have some time to myself. After sketching some fashion illustrations, I realized I didn't have anything to wear for the date.I feel very enthusiastic about the outcome. Daniel has made me grow fond of him already and it's barely even two days. We've been texting almost every minute and we had a brief late night call last night. It became so intense and flirtatious. For a guy I barely know I'd say it was quite forward of me. But he has a charm I can't seem to resist and I love it. I want to look very stunning for this date so I thought of going for brief shopping for a
Vanessa POVThe drive back to the mansion was heavy with silence. Edward’s car hummed quietly as we cruised through New York’s glowing streets, city lights throwing long shadows across the dashboard. The weight in my chest had only grown since Kaz reappeared—his return hadn’t just shaken me, it shattered something I hadn’t realized was still fragile. It wasn’t just the attack. It was everything—the fear, the buried trauma, the flood of memories.Edward kept stealing glances at me, his lips pressed into a tight line. He didn’t speak, but the air buzzed with the words he wasn’t saying. I knew he wanted me to open up. The problem was, I didn’t know how. Finally, his voice broke the silence. “You didn’t tell me about the texts.”My heart skipped. “The texts?” I echoed, trying to sound casual.“The ones about you and Liam. The ones you never mentioned.”A knot twisted in my stomach. I should’ve told him. But I didn’t. And now it was too late to pretend it didn’t matter.“They disappear,”
Vanessa POVMy eyes opened as I caught a glimpse of Sunlight piercing into the living room.Morning came too soon. The Iight lingered, warming the room in soft hues of orange and gold. I wasn’t sure of the time I’d fallen asleep. All I knew was that I’d been wrapped in Edward’s arms, tucked between two very different worlds—Daniel’s penthouse and my shattered sense of safety. My eyes fluttered open, dry and sore. I was curled up on Daniel’s couch, wrapped in a blanket, still wearing his baggy T-shirt. The air smelled faintly of coffee and something citrusy, probably the reed diffusers he always had scattered around. It was too pristine. Too calm. Like last night hadn’t even happened. But it had.Kaz had returned. He’d stepped into my new beginning like a ghost rising from the grave.I sat up slowly, and pain pinched my ribs—a reminder that this wasn’t a dream. That I’d been cornered, grabbed, pinned. And saved.By Daniel. And then, held.By Edward. Two men. One past, one present. And
Edward’s POVThe wheels of my private jet touched down with a gentle bounce, but the moment was anything but smooth for me.Rome had been a success. The business deal was closed, the Roman investors had signed off on the proposal, and my company stood to gain millions in international expansion. On paper, I had everything to celebrate. But I didn’t feel victorious. All I could think about was Vanessa. Her voice on the phone two nights ago had been so… distant. I knew her well enough to hear what she didn’t say. Something was wrong. And my gut hadn’t stopped twisting since that call. The driver was already waiting when I exited the terminal. I nodded stiffly at him, dropping into the backseat and telling him to head home. I didn’t even take off my jacket. My mind was racing too fast.I’d texted Vanessa from the car, just a simple: I’m home. I missed you.No response.Odd.Ten minutes passed. Still nothing.By the time we pulled up to the house, tension coiled in my chest like a vice.T
Vanessa’s POVThe sirens came first.I felt them pierce through me like jagged glass, ringing in my ears. Cutting into the shock that enveloped me. I barely even registered the flashing red-and-blue lights outside the window, or the heavy footsteps echoing through the boutique until I felt Daniel’s arm around my shoulder, anchoring me to something solid.“It’s okay princess,” he whispered to me, his voice low and steady. “They’re here now.”My mouth opened, but I couldn’t speak. Nothing came out. Just the shallow wheezing of someone trying to remember how to breathe. A police officer knelt in front of me, his badge glinting in the low light of my studio. I didn’t know I was still shaking.“Ma’am? Can you hear me? Are you hurt?”My eyes flicked to his face. He looked young—maybe mid-thirties—but there was something tired in his expression. Like he’d seen too much.I tried to nod, but my head wouldn’t move.Daniel answered for me. “She’s in shock. He tried to strangle her. I pulled h
Daniel’s POV I couldn’t take it anymore. I tried—God knows I tried—to give her space, to let her figure things out without pushing. But each day that passed, knowing she was slipping further away from me, gutted me in ways I didn’t think possible. I stared at the apartment keys on my kitchen counter, a sleek silver chain attached to a rose gold fob. I’d just finalized the arrangements this morning. Wendy had been relocated into a high-rise unit two blocks from my penthouse. It was secure, monitored, and came with a personal bodyguard I’d hired to keep her out of trouble—and out of Vanessa’s orbit. I told Wendy it was for her own good. She didn’t argue. Maybe she knew, deep down, that whatever we had was long gone. And maybe, I was done pretending otherwise. I turned the gift box over in my hand, a soft leather wrap tied neatly with a gold ribbon. Inside was a custom bracelet—simple, elegant—etched with the words: Still Yours, Always. It wasn’t grand. It wasn’t meant to win
Vanessa POVI heard my office door shutting behind him with a Soft click. It sounded louder than my heart beating in my chest. My mind was still trying to process it all.Kaz Jones was right here,Standing in my office.Alive.Free.I struggled to keep my balance as my knees trembled. It wasn’t easy for me to remain standing because every inch of me was screaming to run. But I couldn’t show fear. Not to Kaz.He waltzed round the office like he owned the place, tracing his fingers on my table, touching the fabrics on the shelves and the mannequins in my office. Then his gaze landed on me. Most days I wore confidence on me like an armor. I felt exposed in this state, vulnerable even. Today my confidence had dissolved. Now it was like tissue paper.“You look so much better than the last time I saw you Vanessa. I missed you.” He said to me, his lips forming a soft smile on his face. But I knew it was fake because his eyes remained cold.I took a step back, subtly reaching for my phone be
Vanessa POVThe atmosphere was dark, and the air smelt very thick, heavy, suffocating. I knew this place. Knew it too well.A dull glow of a single bulb blinked over my head, causing shadows to form on the cracked walls. I felt my pulse race in my ears, a troubled rhythm that matched the sharp click of polished shoes against the concrete floor.No.I felt my stomach turn violently as I forced myself to move, but my legs wouldn’t cooperate. My feet felt like lead, my breath caught in my throat. I wasn’t here. I couldn’t be here.“Vanessa.”The voice echoed over me like honey already poisoned —sweet, deceptive, and deadly afterwards.Something wasn’t right. The voice came again, Low. Deceptively soft.“You thought you could run from me?”My blood ran cold.I knew that voice.I spun around, my pulse pounding against my ribs, and there he was—Kaz, standing in the shadows, his black eyes fixed on mine. He walked forward, the little light striking the sharp lines of his face, and the snee
Tuesday, April 23rdEdward POVThe Business deal was finally concluded.I smiled vibrantly, leaning back in my chair and staring at the polished wood table in front of me. Everything taking place came into view. Across the room, the Roman investors shook hands with my team, satisfied with the deal I had pitched to them. It had taken months of negotiations, late-night calls, and more patience than I usually had for business. But now, the contract was signed. Now I was one step closer to expanding my empire. However for some reason, my mind didn’t feel the rush of satisfaction it usually felt after sealing a major deal. My mind was somewhere else. On someone else.Vanessa.I exhaled and checked my watch. It was late in Rome, but back in New York, she would still be awake. What was she doing right now? Was she reading on the couch, curled up in one of my shirts like she used to? Or was she with Daniel? My jaw clenched at the thought.Daniel.He wasn’t backing down. I had seen the flowers
Vanessa POV I got back to the mansion with Mandi, exhaling in relief as the door shut behind me. Bella went home. I was holding my breath and I wasn’t even aware until now. I could hear my heart still beating loudly in my chest as I leaned against the door, gripping my phone so tightly to the point where my fingers ached. That call.Someone had been digging into Liam’s birth records. Someone had been looking for his father.I sighed deeply, moving a shaky hand through my red hair. My thoughts were spiraling out of control, with the worst of possibilities flooding my mind.Who? And why now?I had a horrible suspicion.Mandi and Bella asked what happened when we left the restaurant, but I couldn’t bring myself to speak up.I adjusted my skirt, walking past the door and into the living room. The penthouse was a little lively, the nanny I recently hired was watching over Liam, Gwen and James. The lively city hummed from the outside. But all that, did nothing to calm me.I needed to talk
