Chapter 9: Someone new

Susan POV

My eye balls were red and dripping hot tears from the way Edward had just treated me. I got home, throwing myself on my couch as I thought of the best possible way to get rid of Vanessa.

Everything started to go wrong for me the moment that bitch showed up again in Edward's life. Before then I had it all, the money, the attention, the sex. I was number one in Edward's eyes. Even if our relationship started off on a contract for sex and money, it couldn't change the fact that he was starting to grow fond of me.

Now it all felt non existent.

Why is she suddenly back with him anyway? What's the connection between them? I have to do some digging. But before then, I need to make sure she pays for the embarrassment Edward put me through last night and this morning.

If I did it myself, it would be too obvious. Drying my tears I reached for my phone. There is this powerful Hitman I know from Chicago. He has men who work for him all over America.

"Hi Rodrigo, it's your Barbie from New York." I said to him, crying a little more so he can feel pity for me.

"Why is my Barbie crying? Who do I have to kill?" He asked and my lips instantly curved into an evil smile.

"You don't have to kill them, that's too much." I lied. He couldn't know what my true intentions were.

"Tell me the truth. No on messes with my Barbie." Finally. The statement I'm looking for.

"It's a girl from my college. She's trying to snatch my boyfriend, and she's stealing my shine and making me look bad in-front of him."

"What's her name?" He asked furiously

"Some girl named Vanessa Coleman. I want you to take care of her. Can you do that?" I sniffed my nose.

"Consider it done my Barbie. I'll send one of my men in New York. She'll be gone before you know it."

"Thank you Rodrigo. I'm so glad I have you."

"You know I'll do anything for you. But money is $7,000." Ofcourse, his deals had to be sealed and sorted out with good money.

"Sure. I'll pay you." We said bye in unison.

My mood felt better, cause I had finally come to a solution in Dealing with that Vanessa girl. We used to be friends in College, but the real world is a different ball game and I won't let her take the life I struggled to build away from me. I'm fucking Susan Ash, a real life Barbie. Nobody could mess with me and get away with it.

Vanessa POV

The meeting went by fast and a big lunch followed right after. Even though I came with Edward, it didn't stop the constant winks and stares Daniel west gave me from across the table. It felt good to flirt and be the attention of someone again.

Edward glanced left and right between us, his eyes filled with a hint of anger and confusion from what was happening. I know he wants to say something, I can feel it. But the only words that rang in my head was that of Daniel. I'm so happy the contract marriage allows me to still explore a relationship with some else if I want to. The reason Edward put that in there is so he won't feel guilt from being a play boy.

During the meeting, Edward and Daniel kept giving each other deadly stares and making Shady comments at themselves.

I had assumed everyone here at this table are friends but I was wrong.

Suddenly, I felt a soft squeeze on my thigh coming from the side.

It was Edward. That's strange coming from him. I thought he said no PDA.

I turned to look at him. He signaled for me to come closer.

"It's time to pick Liam up from school. Do that and don't go anywhere else." He whispered to me.

He was right. The afternoon was already getting late. But why couldn't I go anywhere else afterwards? Was he feeling threatened by Daniel? I nodded in response, excusing myself from the table as I walked out from the Lunch.

Daniel watched me, a feeling of disappointment on his face when he saw me leaving. Donovan was waiting downstairs at the lobby so he went to fetch the car.

"Leaving so soon?" I heard Daniel say as he came out of the elevator, walking towards me. I didn't expect him to follow me, but I thought it was cute.

"Oh yes, I have something important to attend to." I replied, smiling at the sight of him. I didn't want to scare him away with the knowledge that I had a son.

"Alright Cinderella." He chuckled walking closer to me as he grabbed my hand softly, entwining it with his.

" I'd love to get to know you. Can I take you out on a date sometime?" He said, giving me a sexy stare, the kind that pierced through my soul.

Everything in me was screaming yes but I couldn't bring myself to say it. Is Daniel worth giving my time to? And would it sit right with Edward? I didn't know the answers.

"Daniel I'd love to but—

"But what? Are you dating someone? Is it Edward Silver? He cut in, interrupting me.

I was overthinking.

"Edward and I are just mutuals. And no, I'm not dating anyone."

"Then why are you resisting me? We clearly have chemistry. Don't you want to explore it and see where things go?" Daniel spoke huskily, moving closer. Our lips, so close to touching. Who was this guy?

"I'm not resisting you Daniel, I'm just being careful." I confessed feeling heavy within me.

Donovan came back and Daniel walked me to the car. We passed through the back side of the building so the paparazzi won't notice us.

After some time, Daniel spoke again.

"Let's spend time with each other Vanessa, let me give you reasons to give us a chance. What do you say?" He looked at me smiling softly, raising his eyebrows with hopes to convince me.

One date couldn't hurt right? Edward can go to hell. Why do I even care about what he thinks?

"I have time on Wednesday evening, we can go to the movies, have dinner, visit a photo boot, play games.." my voice trailed off.

I was smiling just thinking about all the fun things we could do. I haven't had the liberty to do these things in such a long time. Having Liam changed everything.

"That sounds Amazing Sweetheart. I'm ecstatic about it. I'll see you on Wednesday at 7 yeah?" He asked. I got into the Mercedes Benz.

"See you at 7 Daniel." I replied, blowing him a kiss and he caught it playfully.

Why waste my time with Edward when I can clearly be my best self with Daniel?

I was shuffling these thoughts in my head. Edward didn't even have a right to question me. He has disrespected me so many times. Right from when we were dating back in college. Almost everyone knew of our issues. So many girls were jealous of me and wanted him. There were guys chasing after me too. But no one could make me feel the way Edward did.

Snapping out of my thoughts a text message popped up on my Iphone.

"Don't forget you're mine Nessa."

My eyes widened as I stared at the message on my screen. It was Edward.

"Are you crazy?" I asked him putting a laughing Emoji beside it. I was also laughing in real life. The text felt unreal to me. Edward made it very clear that last night was a mistake. This morning he pushed me away and acted so mean to me. Now he's doing this?

"I mean it Nessa." He said again, I was feeling flabbergasted.

"You don't know what you're saying Edward, you're probably drunk."

"Answer me like that again and I'll fuck that Attitude out of you."

I dwelled on the thought a bit. He was actually being serious. If I dared to misbehave he is capable of doing just what he said. I don't need him confusing me right now, even though I'm turned on from the possibility.

"Why the sudden change of heart Edward? Why are you claiming me?" I had to know. I didn't like this hot and cold signals from him.

After some time, he replied.

"We'll discuss more on this when I get home."

It's almost like he typed the things he's scared of saying to me in person. Is he being serious? Or is this just one of his games?

Why does Edward have so much power over me?
