Vanessa POV

2 weeks had passed since I moved in with Edward. He barely stayed at the mansion. Rumor has it from the maids that he spends most of his time in his penthouse. One of the high rise elite buildings in New York.

He only came home during the weekends to spend time with his son then he would leave again.

Liam was getting used to his new life and fitting in perfectly in his new school. Most children schooling there are rich so they treat each other with respect. Since I quit my job I've had more time to myself.

Staring through the tinted window of the SUV, I adore the beautiful city of New York. I send Edward texts and calls every now and then, but he doesn't pick or respond to any.

Instead I get texts from an unknown number saying "Stay away from Edward. He doesn't want you." I know Susan is the only one petty enough to do that, and the texts are getting more violent.

Is this what I have to put up with for the next 6 months?

My phone rang. It's my sister Mandi in the UK. She is married with 2 kids. She is the only one I have ever since my parents died in a brutal accident.

"Hey Vanessa, how are you holding up?" She asked me. I could feel her smiling through the phone. Her background was busy. Her kids were playing and making some noise.

"I'm okay Mandi, just dropped Liam off at school." I replied feeling uneasy with my thoughts.

I told Mandi about the whole Edward drama. She keeps encouraging me, saying that he would change.

"Has Edward started speaking to you?"

"Barely. It's getting worse by the day you know. His ignorance. His mistress is even threatening me too. I'm tired Mandi. I feel so used and alone."

"Don't be. He is going to change, I can feel it. Just give him some time. Meanwhile, you can focus on Liam and your dreams."

Mandi had predicted a few things from years ago that happened later in the future. But this one about Edward? The chances were really slim. I had concluded that he hates me wholeheartedly.

"You can't be so sure Mandi. I don't think he will."

"Just be patient Vanessa. You'll see for yourself." The car drove into the mansion's parking lot. I had to go.

"Alright Mandi. I'll call you later. Say hi to Gwen and James for me."

"Okay. Talk to you later. Bye" She replied and I ended it.

It was still morning time so I had my breakfast then went to my room. Mandi was right about focusing on my dreams. I have more energy and inspiration for my fashion sketches. I've been drawing so frequently. All that's left is to start bringing these designs to life. As for my law firm, I would have to look for an office for that too and employ people to run the place for me.

Everything is tied around money. I opened my accounts. I got paid for my stripping gig on Saturday. After the 10 percent the club took from the total money, I was left with $27,000. The money Edward gives me weekly all together is $50,000 so far. I took 5 thousand from it to do some shopping for myself. Liam is also enjoying his own deposit too. This was enough to buy some fabric and mannequins to start designing. I still needed more so I could invest in the business ideas.

The club was already calling me back and asking why I quit. I couldn't explain to them, they wouldn't understand.

I opened my laptop and began to search for buildings in New York available for rent.

But G****e had other plans. A gossip blog about Edward popped up instead. I clicked on it and they had a lot to say about him.

"New York's most Eligible bachelor and play boy Edward Silver has moved in with a woman. His intentions are still unknown and the lady's identity remains hidden."

Is this even real? How did they stalk him so much to know about this? This was scary. At least they didn't know about Liam. I checked more articles and saw that the paparazzi had captured him in pictures with multiple women and there were rumors that he dated multiple models abroad and they bragged about how good he was in bed. Some even fought on social media and threatened each other over him.

Feeling annoyed, I closed the laptop and dressed up to go somewhere else. Time to make enquiries for an office.

Edward POV

My mind grew restless as I paced back and forth in my office. I checked the time. It was 10pm. Do I go back to the Mansion or the penthouse to be with Susan? These past weeks of my distance from Vanessa have been nothing but torture for me. I wasn't staying over because I wanted some space from her but this action seems to have affected me more. I saw her calls, read her texts.

It gave me joy to see that she cared of my absence but these few days say otherwise because she stopped sending them. Now it's me who is left with this wanting and desire for her. I miss the feel of her waist in my hands, and the sweet feeling her icy stare gave me when her eyes looked into mine. I began to round up the work in my office, then Susan called.

"My love, where are you? It's getting late." I heard her disgusting tone over the phone. It's like she irritates me even more as the days go by. The only woman I wanted to see now was Nessa.

"Don't call me that." I warned immediately, closing my office blind and turning the lights off.

"Is something wrong Edward?"

"I won't be coming to the penthouse tonight. Make sure you leave first thing tomorrow morning. Goodnight." I replied ending the call as I hurriedly got out of the office.

Nessa loved me very much when we used to date in college. But somewhere down the line I messed up. I know she has been trying to air this out and communicate but I'm not ready for it. My bad habits have hurt her constantly and have pushed her away from me. If I let her come close again, won't it be tragic?

My mind flashes back to the night at the strip club. Her gorgeous body, hugging mine. Her face hiding behind the mask. All it took was a kiss, then in that moment I knew it was her.

Reaching the mansion, I walked in hurriedly. The staff greeted me, surprised I was back on a Monday night and during a late hour. I walked to the living room, she wasn't there. I checked the kitchen and study. No sign of her. My heart is beating even faster. Why the fuck am I acting like this?

I went upstairs to Liam's room. My son was fast asleep. She wasn't there either. She definitely had to be in her room.

I took my suit off, unbuttoning my shirt a little. I knocked briefly on her door. Without waiting for her response, I barged in. My eyes were blessed with the beautiful sight of her, seated at her dressing table and wearing a short purple night dress.

"Edward? When did you come home?" She said, getting up as she stared at me with shock written all over her face.

Her cleavage was very visible, and her hair fell over her shoulders.

"A few minutes ago." I replied her, shutting the door as I walked closer.

"Oh, is there a reason why?" Vanessa spoke, playing with her fingers. She often did that when she was nervous. I was nervous too but I couldn't help it any longer.

"I missed you Nessa." I said quickly moving closer till her boobs were pressing into my chest.

"What?" She whispered in disbelief, like it wasn't even possible. Her expression relaxed, becoming softer as her eyes dilated at the mention of those words.

"I missed you." I said again, reaching for her face as I cupped it in my hands.

"Did you miss me too?"

She took a long pause, then spoke

"Yes I —" before she could even finish, my lips were fast on hers. I kissed her deeply moving my hands to her body as I carried her upwards. She kissed back, her hands curved round my neck. She smelt so intoxicating and sweet. I led us to the bed, laying her down as I trailed soft kisses on her breasts down to her stomach.

"Oh yes Edward." She moaned softly, grasping my head lightly as her eyes met with mine.

The excitement in me grew stronger after hearing her speak like that. I wanted her to be mine and no one else's. Returning to her soft lips, I kissed her deeper this time, with more passion and intensity.

I ran my fingers over her nipples, pulling her night gown off so her breasts are fully exposed. Nessa watched me, with eyes filled with the sexiest expression I had ever seen.

"You are so beautiful." I said to her, moving to her neck and planting soft kisses. She moaned at every touch, placing her hands around me and making me loose my focus too. She is so dangerous.

I loved seeing her like this. I wanted to go further, but if I do there's no going back. I still had to get myself in check. I wasn't able to give her all of me yet.

With multiple thoughts all in my head I pulled away from her, moving away from the bed. She got up after me, her face mixed with pleasure and confusion.

"Why did you stop?" She asked quietly, searching my face for the answer.

I didn't know what to say to her. It won't make any sense. I just stood there, watching her.

"Edward?" She called again. Her voice barely a whisper.

"I'll need you as an Escort for a conference meeting tomorrow. Get dressed early. Donovan will come and get you by 10." I said to her, my heart sinking as I turned my back and walked out of the room.

How long will I keep hurting and resisting her?

Early JuneVanessa’s POVTwo weeks had passed, just like that. With the gossip blogs dying down, Edward and I had fallen into a rhythm. Soft, unspoken, but grounding. The mornings began with Liam’s sleepy smile and Edward’s hand brushing mine over breakfast. Evenings were filled with quiet walks, stolen kisses in the kitchen, and dinners where we spoke like we were learning each other all over again. It felt like we were just meeting each other for the first time, opening up and discovering things we didn’t notice or see previously.Edward was patient with me, gentler than before. He’d begun to lean into fatherhood in small but steady ways, taking Liam to school twice a week, reviewing his silly drawings with exaggerated admiration, and reading him bedtime stories when I got home late from the fashion house. And when Liam fell asleep, we had all the time to be intimate, passionate and crazy about each other, in ways I never imagined, ways I never thought possible. Edward Silver was a

Edward’s POVThe fluorescent lights in the interrogation room blinked multiple times, illuminating Dean Mercer’s face as he sat there looking tired, defeated, broken. His female assistant was in the opposite room, getting questioned as well. The sound of his breathing was the only thing filling up the silence, with mixed feelings of fear and regret. I stood across the table, hands already hardened into fists at my sides, trying to steady myself. I just got back from checking on Vanessa at her fashion house, capturing the fabric of her creativity, her spark that both awed and shocked me. Now I was back here, at the center of a betrayal that cut deeper than any bullet wound. The Detective hovered in the corner, arms crossed. He didn’t need to say anything; his presence alone radiated complacent professionalism. My private investigator was right on time too, coming into the room.Dean shifted in his seat, eyes darting to me. “Mr. Silver, I… I was told to do it. Rodrigo said—he said you w

Vanessa’s POVThe scent of jasmine oil and eucalyptus filled the air, sinking deep into my bones like a balm I hadn’t known I needed. Bella had literally marched into my office and pulled me out mid-email, declaring that I needed “a detox for the soul.” I’d barely protested. My muscles were tense, my mind scattered, and since Mandi and the kids left for the UK, Liam and I had both been in a mood. We’d met at school drop off together, and after a quiet, reassuring hug goodbye, Bella had driven us to this ridiculously serene spa downtown. Now we were both in robes, cucumbers over our eyes, warm towels behind our necks, and soft instrumental music humming in the background. It should’ve been bliss.“You’re welcome, by the way,” Bella said, her voice muffled by the steamer mist floating above us.I chuckled. “I didn’t say thank you yet.”“You’re welcome anyway. God, Nessa, you looked like you were about to launch someone off the roof this morning.”I tilted my head slightly. “That obvious

You’re amazing! Love your hair too x.”A smile formed on my face. It felt nice to know there were still people out there who didn’t believe the media.I left my office and went into the main studio. May 15thVanessa’s POVI woke up in shock from my bed side alarm, hitting the snooze button as I rolled over to the other side. The room felt quiet, too quiet. My phone lay beside me, its screen bright, texts, emails, and some messages. Even from Daniel. Part of me wanted to unlock it, but another part feared what I might find.I took a deep breath, remembering the embrace with Edward from nights ago. It felt like ages. His arms around me, the deep hush of his voice whispering my name. It all felt like a balm to my bruised soul. But bigger storms still loomed.I rolled out of bed, muscles stiff but my heart strangely light. Edward hadn’t been home in about 2 days since the scandal with the blogs, and I worried that the stress of the damage control would only feed the tension between us.I’d called Mandi last night to check on her, and she seemed better. “Justin and I are resolving it, one step at a time.” That was what she told me last night.I’m sure Bella might be upset I had to ra

The glow of Velvet Orchid in front of me, felt like a confession booth that I needed to drown my thoughts in.I approached the private lounge and sat at the bar for what felt like hours. Immediately, the bartender, recognized my face.“Same again?” she asked kindly.“Yeah,” I replied, knowing it’d be double. Clean break? I was nowhere near that. Vanessa and I hadn’t spoken in days.
