Ivy
I woke up the morning because my stomach was rolling. I jumped from the bed and ran to the bathroom. Getting to the toilet just before everything came out. I heard the footsteps behind me and waved my arms behind me as my stomach lurched forward again. “No,” is all I could get out as I felt Max’s, I assumed, hands gathering my hair into a ponytail. He rubbed my back as I lurched forward yet again. This is not what I needed him seeing but I was sure he wasn’t leaving.
When I was finally sure that nothing more was coming out of me, I reached up and flushed the toilet. Max stood up and walked to the sink. I watched him turn the water on than grab a cloth, running it under the stream. I couldn’t tear my eyes from him. He wasn’t wearing a shirt and I noticed for the first time how much he had grown. He had more muscle than he did when he was younger. He really had become a man. He was no longer the boy that I knew so
Max I spun around as soon as I heard the sound. It wasn’t loud. To anyone not trained like me, they wouldn’t have even heard it let alone know that it was a silencer. I watched as Ivy dove to the ground. I pulled my gun and ran in her direction, firing shots at car the shots were coming from. The tires squealed as it fishtailed a little before finally righting and driving off. When I was sure that there was no more threat to either Ivy or myself, I looked at her on the ground. Bending down beside her I put one hand behind her head and shook her body with my other. “Ivy,” I shook a little harder, “can you hear me?” She didn’t stir, she didn’t make any noise. It didn’t look like she had been shot but I couldn’t be sure because of the lack of light around us. She was breathing though. “Tesoro,” I whispered the term of endearment that I used when we were teens. I had thought I was so slick back then because she had melted the first time I used it. I find

MaxAs I shut the door to the room Ivy was in, my room, there was a knock on the door. I knew that it would be her parents. What I didn’t know, was how they would act. I had called them only after she had seen the doctor which probably was stupid, but I wanted to know she was okay before I called.I opened the door and was met with the face of Vincent Bellandini. He looked pissed. “Sir,” I greeted him, stepping aside to let him and his wife in.“Where is my daughter?” Mrs. Bellandini asked. Her voice gave away that she was worried sick.I started to answer before I heard thedoor to the other bedroom shut. “She is in here, Aunt Becs,” Gia answered her. I watched the woman follow her niece to the room Ivy was in, shutting the door behind them.“What the hell happened?” Vincent asked me as soon as he was sure the door was shut and the women weren’t coming back out. I sighed a
IvyI woke up with my head laying on something hard and warm. When it moved upward, I froze. Max. I was on his chest. His no shirt, perfectly chiseled, naked, chest. And it felt amazing. His breathing was even still so he wasn't awake. I smiled, thinking about how good it felt. I let myself imagine for a few minutes, that this was how we woke up every day. Had been waking up for the last several years. Like we had never been separated by my dad and his stupid rules or whatever he wanted to call it.I knew why Max had been sent away, no matter what my father had told me or mom. He didn't want me dating back then any more than he did now. I also knew that he had been getting ready to send some of the boys, my age, to Italy for training. Maybe it was a half-truth. I didn't know for sure and there was no point on dwelling on the past. Not when someone out there wanted to kill me. I decided that it was time to get up before he woke up and caught me, no matt
IvyI woke up with a smile on my face. The me from hours earlier, would have slapped it off my face and told myself to stop being sappy, but I couldn't for the life of me. It wasn't until I started stretching, that I realized Max was gone. I listen to see if I can find out where he is. Shower? No water running, but I can hear voices outside the bedroom and I know one of them is my fathers. I decide I am done resting. Hopefully they have some information so I can go take care of this problem.I open the door, and everyone stops talking. Gia and Nico are sitting on the loveseat together, mom is on the couch looking like she is more worried than she was when she had come to check on me, my uncle Dom is in the corner of the room, leaning against the wall looking every bit the scary man that he is when someone messes with his family. My father is of course standing in the center of everything. He appears that he was in the middle of giving orders, but I can
MaxI watched Ivy’s face as she listened to whoever was on the other end of the call.“You’re sure?” Her face was a mixture of confusion and what I hoped wasn’t fear, but I wasn’t confident that was the case. “Okay. Thanks,” she hung up and sank to the bed.“Ivy?” I took a step toward her cautiously. She didn’t move, just stared at her feet. I crouched down in front of her and put a hand on each of her thighs. “Ivy. What is it?”“I can’t believe it,” she breaths, still not looking at me.“What?”Her head whips up like she just realized I was there. Her eyes lock with mine. “The shooter…” I nod waiting for her to keep going. “He’s… He… A solider under Uncle Dom,” her eyebrows furrow like she just can’t believe it.Truthfully, I can’t believe it either
Ivy“Ivy, will you tell me what the hell is going on?” Gia asks me as I look over the bar in the main room of the suite. A full bar is needed for the way the people coming like to party. I sigh and keep working, hoping she will drop it. “Ivy,” her voice is firm telling me that she isn’t going to drop it.“Fine,” I groan, “Carlos got an ID on the guy that tried to kill me.” I look down at the bar in front of me. I know for my plan to work I have to keep myself calm and I’m not sure that I can do that.“Who?” Gia sounds scared. I know this isn’t her thing, but I also know she will stand by me.“One of Uncle Dom’s men.” The gasp is loud causing me to cringe. “Everything will be fine. Max and Nico are going to talk to people and see what they can find out. I don’t just want the guy that did it, I want to know why.”“I
MaxI watched Ivy stock my direction and I was sure she was going to rip Sienna off me and claim me. I know that it would have blown the plan out of the water, but I would be lying if I wasn’t looking forward to it. Which meant I was disappointed when she walked right past us to and into the group of people that were drying humping to the music and calling it dancing. Her arms rose above her head, her hips swayed, eyes closed. I watch her until I hear Sienna’s annoying whiny voice say my name. “What?” I look at her.“Are you going to show me your room?” She bats her eyelashes at me, and I internally groan. Ivy’s idea better work.“Why would I do that?” I choose to act like I don’t even know what she is getting at. Looking past her, I see Nico sitting on the couch looking uncomfortable as Arianna rubs against him. I then look to see Gia seething before taking a shot and marching t
