Chapter 36 - Selene

“Who’s such a big boy?” I coo to my son. “Who’s Mama’s big boy?”

Erick shrieks and gurgles, his arms held up high. “Ick!” he cries out in his approximation of his name.

“That’s right!” I beam at him, holding my arms out towards him. “Erick is Mama’s big boy! You gonna fly to Mama?”

I’ve been trying to encourage him to fly further and further. Apollo came by to do Erick’s six month checkup. He’s pleased with all of Erick’s progress, but he recommended that we start working on some of his godly powers. Though there is no rush to see where his magical affinity will sprout, it is best to have him exercise his skills so that he’s comfortable when that affinity does come.

Instead, he pushes himself up to his feet and starts taking wobbly, unsteady steps towards me.

“Oh, baby,” I chuckle. “You’ve gotta fly.”

I start to levitate off of the floor and I see his little face scrunch up in anger. “No, Mama!”
