Heena was at home arranging her princess room, she's fondly called Princess of Ro'Sau empire by her father. She was not the only girl but she was the eldest of all the children. She has two siblings. Shawn the male and Avie the second and the youngest daughter of Ro'Sau. Heena is older than Shawn by a space of two years while Shawn is a senior to Avie with three years margin.
Her phone rang and it was her friend that was on the line.
"Hello, Heena," Leah greeted on the phone
"Hi, Leah. What's up?" Heena asked playfully.
"I am good. What about you?" Leah inquired.
"As Ro'Sau empire princess I am fine," Heena replied witfully
"Heena is like you are not getting it…" Leah waited in line for Heena's response.
"What are you talking about?" Heena became frightened.
"Don't tell me you have not seen your dad's face trending all over the T.V channels?" Leah did not want to believe the news either, that's why she called her friend to confirm the truth of the news.
"Dad! Trending for what?" She interrogated her friend.
"I think you should watch the T.V or stream Venushoods online and see with your eyes," Leah said and dropped the call without a formal goodbye.
Heena thinks she should stream her father's company than listen to any fallacy from the T.V. She went to the bookmarks pages on her phone and clicked on the Venushoods. She saw the writing in bold.
"KICK OUT THE SLUSH FUND MAN" she clicked on the heading and saw an article posted a few minutes ago by the media department that her father Mr. Ro'Sau will be facing a trial, he was accused of using his position as the CEO to steal money away from the organization for personal use and many investors agreed he should be stripped off his duty as the CEO till when the proper investigation will be completed.
There was a video posted on the site where her father was caught by many reporters interrogating him. They even asked who will be the acting CEO as he will be away from the office for a while. His driver helped him to walk out of the crowd, he used his jacket to cover his face.
For the past twenty-six years that he has been managing the company he has not even for once overpaid himself, nor did he abuse his authority on any of his subordinates. Ro'Sau was confident in himself that he will be out in the public as a clean man.
Heena called her father to hear what he has to say on the issue at hand. She can't believe that her father would get himself messed up in such a scandal, he was also accused of improper misconduct in office, that he tried to take advantage of his secretary, though the woman told him she is married Ro'Sau didn't back off, so she fired the secretary unjustly.
Ro'Sau did not pick up his calls, from the beginning of the scandal his phone had been ringing from one caller to another, and he was tired of explaining to people, especially when they could not believe his side of the story.
Heena called her mother who also works in Venushoods company. On a normal day, Trisi doesn't answer Heena's calls during work hours, she always lets her assistant pass all her information to her. She once said to Heena that as her face is ugly so also is her voice, that's why she doesn't like listening to her on the phone.
Aside from Trisi who finds everything about Heena irritating, every other person finds her company interesting. She's one of a kind girl. She lives a quiet and peaceful life.
"Hello, what did you want?" Trisi asked her daughter Heena on the phone with an even tone. Before Heena's call came in, Trisi was discussing in her office with Mr. Pindra, her old friend that often visits her, whenever there's a need. She was angry that Heena's call came in at the wrong time to ruin her mood, and if she leaves the call unanswered, she will not get what she wanted.
Trisi raised Heena for twenty-five years, so she knew her more than Heena know herself. Though she can't see her expression at the moment, she will be happy to hear her tremble on the phone, that's a priceless Joy to her.
"He-ll-o ma," Heena said on the phone stammering.
"What's the occasion of the moment?" Trisi asked to taunt Heena. How can your husband be going through the trial moment and you still joke around like nothing is going on? Heena wondered what kind of a person her mother is.
"Nothing ma! I called to check on you" Heena said in a rush, though fear was feasible in her words.
"O' my sweet darling, that's thoughtful of you," Trisi was still poking fun at her. I am getting a gift for the whole family tonight, what did you want? She asked Heena.
"Gift?" Heena was surprised. "But mum, what's the celebration all about? I thought dad is…" Heena wanted to air her worries but her mother cut the words short from her lips.
"I thought you called because you read the news? Trisi said and Heena was silent on the phone, Trisi added "Has a family we need to celebrate our togetherness, no matter the ongoing trial."
Her point was valid enough still Heena did not want to cross her boundaries. "Bring dad home safe, that's my gift" she gave Trisi her reply.
"Consider it done!" Trisi said and hung up the call to continue with her conversation with Mr. Pindra.
"How could you be so naughty to the girl on the phone?" Mr. Pindra questioned.
"C'mon let's not talk about the girl right now, Heena is nothing but a toy in my hands," Trisi said without feeling remorseful for her statements.
Heena knew if she had asked her mother for a gift, she wouldn't get any. The last time her mother got her a present was when she was eighteen, and according to her source, it was her dad who forced her to get Heena the swimming trunks. Whenever they all made a list of what they wanted, Trisi would go all the way to buy for Shawn and Avie but she would always leave Heena out, feed her with a thousand, and one reason why she could not get the gifts. Heena has stopped bothering herself on such a matter. There's money available to buy them, but her mom hates spending her money on her.
Avie most times will add a few of Heena's list to hers and give them to their mother, no matter how expensive it is, as long as the list is from Avie, Trisi would get them for her.
No matter how busy Mr. Ro'Sau is, he always creates time to spend with his children, especially Heena. Ro'Sau noticed early the difference in Trisi's attitude towards Heena. Since the conception of Shawn, Trisi has hated everything and anything that has to do with Heena.
What offense would a two years old girl have erred that warrants such ill-treatment?
Ro'Sau thought with time everything will be normal between Trisi and Heena, instead, Trisi kept driving a wedge between herself and her daughter.
Heena loved her family a lot, apart from her mom who doesn't show her love, everyone else loves her to the moon and back. After she dropped the call with her mother, she called her dad's line again and it was switched off.
She had the driver's number, she remembered she saw the driver together with her dad on the video. She dialed his line and he picked up at once.
"Hello, young madam," the driver spoke with a sign of respect. On different occasions as Heena told him to stop referring to her as young madam, he should address her by her given name Heena.
"Hi, are you with my dad?" She asked
"Not exactly madam, I just drop him off at the usual place, I am on my way to the office to pick up a file for him," he explained.
"Okay, before you drive to the office, please pass by the house, let go to the office together and from there we will go and meet him at his usual place," she instructed the man on the phone.
"Yes ma," the driver screamed on the phone and he stepped fast on the accelerator.
Mr. Ro'Sau's usual place is his former house at Molicano, which was where he and his wife lived in the early years of their marriage. Whenever he has tons of weight on his shoulder, he visits the house to loosen it a bit.
From what Heena heard, dad loved the old house because it was filled with unforgettable blissful moments, while mom doesn't like to visit the house since the birth of Shawn because the house reminded her of some bad event. It was said that anytime Trisi visits the old house, something bad always happened.
A month after Trisi visited the old house was when she became pregnant with Avie. Ro'Sau gave the current house at Ordana to Trisi as a gift for giving birth to Shawn. When Trisi was discharged from the hospital, she said she was not going back to live in Molicano anymore, baby Shawn was taken from the hospital directly to the new house at Ordana.
The distance between Molicano to Ordana is about 90 minutes drive if not more than. An hour after Heena spoke with the driver, the driver came to the house, parked outside the gate, and called Heena to come down. Avie and Shawn are not at home, they went out with their friends. Heena rushed out of the room and went to the office with the driver.
Heena was sitting inside the car, waiting for the driver. She sat for about five minutes, so she was tired, and got down from the car to look around the company. Maybe she can find something to help with her dad's trial. It was quarter past one in the afternoon, she wondered why the huge office looked scanty.
Maybe the news outbreak went bad on the employees and they closed earlier than usual. She seldomly visits the company. Trisi gave her a strict warning not to come to the company if it's not important. However, Avie and Shawn always go to the office in their free time. She's done with her first degree with good grades and is expected to register for her master's soon. She wanted to work with her dad's company but her mom refused her proposal. She claimed that Heena does not have any work experience, so she needs to work with another firm and she must have a recommendation before accepting her to the family organization.
Mr. Ro'Sau agreed with Trisi for all their children not to work with the company until they are twenty-seven years old. He helped Heena to get an appointment with Tulip-Consult. They are in charge of designing the configuration and everything of a company. They also promote companies that are registered under them. Sometimes Heena works from the house or she goes for a new site inspection. She has been working with Tulip-Consult for two years now and her records are good.
Getting to the Venushoods company, she decided to drop by her mother's office to say hello. The secretary to her mother's office was not on site so she walked straight to her mother's office but the door was locked, she was about to turn back, then she heard a male voice.
"For how long will the staff be away?" He asked
"I have bought three hours of their time, they won't be here until 3 o'clock," Trisi replied.
"You are a superwoman!" The man commends Trisi.
Heena peeped through the tiny hole in the door, she saw her mother holding a bottle of wine, and saw the man's back view, but that wasn't her dad.
"Let's celebrate a step toward our victory," Trisi said and poured some wine into the glass, and hugged the man. Heena was curious to know who the man was, she was about to open the door, her leg hit on the door and the mother shouted from the inside "who's there?". Heena got a text from the driver that he was ready to move, so she left hurriedly without answering her mother, Trisi came out and saw no one at the door, she assumed she heard the sound wrong.
Ordana is a vast and crowded city that was built predominantly of rock and defended by complex machinery. It is well known for its majestic castle. Most of its revenue comes from tourism. As they were driving to Molicano, she couldn't hold her mind off the dialogue she overheard in her mother's office."Mr. Bari, why was the office so quiet today?" She inquired from the driver."I can't say precisely, but when I called one of the other drivers, he said your mom asked them to go for three hours break, that she wants to have a personal meeting with the investors on how to save your father," Bari explained to her what he was informed.Heena rested her mind, the little conversation she overheard and what Mr. Bari said they are similar, and she has no reason to doubt her mother's loyalty to her father. "I know mum will protect dad as much as she can." She was meant to say the word in her mind, but for an unknown reason, the word came out into the driver's hearing. "I'm sure your mom would
That car looks precisely like a popular car to her, though she saw it faintly and it was on the other side of the road. The car was driving into Molicano city while they were on their way out of the city. She wished her dad would turn the wheel around to have her doubt-ridden. Her dad concentrated on his driving, so he obviously did not see the car on the other side. Heena was unable to see who drove the car because the glass was tinted and there was no way she could see through the closed glass.Suddenly, her dad turned the wheel around, and in the blink of an eye, they were facing Molicano already. She was happy that with the way her father is driving, they might catch up with the car, to satisfy her curiosity."Dad, why are we going back? She asked. Heena craved to know if they were both on the same page."Dear sorry fastened your seat belt well cause am about to unveil the James Bond in me." She was startled by her father's statement."Mr. James Bond, please drive with caution eve
Not only Trisi loves the tasty stands chicken, but Heena and Avie also do. I mean all the ladies in Ro'Sau's life cherished the chicken but Trisi is still their master. The only time Trisi gets to chat with Heena with a cool voice is when she's operating on the chicken.Heena was surprised when they got home and Ro'Sau drove to the parking lot, her mother's favorite car is not in the garage. That was the car her mom drove to the office that morning. Whenever her mom sends her those naughty messages, it means she's already back to the house from her outing. But today, she got a message from her mom and her car is not available at the lot. It means she's still out, flexing on her husband's money. Ro'Sau also noticed the absence of his wife's car and the time was a quarter to eight."Dear, it appears we came in before your mom," Mr. Ro'Sau said as he stepped out of his car."I feel so too," she said in response to her father. They both got down from the car, Heena did not forget to carry
Ro'Sau and his wife were fierce with one another that night, the elation lasted a while. He watched his wife fall asleep on his arm before he went to his room. He knew he left the file in his car, he was exhausted that he let the file be.Trisi was in a good mood the following morning, not like her daily routine she would have been inside her room, waiting for Heena's breakfast call. But this morning Trisi was the first to be up, she switched on the living room light and then walked to the kitchen. She looked at the menu for the day, it was on Thursday, and on the menu list were Breakfast Burritos.Breakfast Burritos filled with sausage, eggs, cheese, and fresh avocado salsa, these bodega-style are delish any time of day! It takes up to twenty-five minutes to prepare all the Burritos ingredients and fifteen minutes to cook, so, all in all, it is forty minutes. Trisi was in the kitchen arranging all the ingredients together. She brought out first the Avocado-tomato Salsa ingredients;1
"You want to see my d-a-d," Shawn stammered, replying to the weird-looking unknown guests. He didn't open the door for them at first, he was not sure if his dad was expecting any visitors, so he went inside to inform his dad of the unknown guest. As a matter of fact, the Ro'Sau family hardly received visitors for like five years when they lost the eldest member of the family."Shawn, who is the at the gate?" Ro'Sau asked."Three weird men, they claimed that they are here for you," Shawn let it out."Here for me! Ro'Sau exclaimed, but I wasn't expecting anyone," Ro'Sau spoke"Maybe I should send them away," Shawn suggested."No, it's better I go to them," Ro'Sau said and went to the gate. He saw the three men standing outside his gate, he opened the gate and offered them to come inside."Sir we are from Sector F police station, there was a petition against you, so we are here for questioning. I am Inspector Gabi," the officer said and they showed him their identity card."Let's go in fo
When Heena got into the Inspector's office, she noted that the atmosphere was not friendly at all. "Good afternoon sirs," Heena greeted them in low spirit."Welcome!" Inspector Zenaye and Ro'Sau responded while Ijia tightened his face. Heena sat beside her father, however, she was not feeling comfortable as there was silence in the room.Mr. Ro'Sau asked if he could go outside to discuss this with Heena."Who is she to you?" Ijia asked rudely."She's my first daughter," Ro'Sau replied in a good manner. It looks as though Ijia has overtaken the place of Inspector Zenaye. He took the questioning so seriously as if there was a mega prize for him to win with the case."She's your daughter, so what?" Ijia muttered rudely."Please, Can I have a minute with my daughter outside?" Ro'Sau pleaded."Yes, you can," Inspector Zenaye said ahead of inspector Ijia. Seems Ijia has had an unfinished battle with Ro'Sau in the past because his outrageous behaviour towards him calls for questioning."Dad
Heena saw a text message from her boyfriend. "Dear so sorry about your dad, I know this is hard for you, see you soon," Roy texted Why is Roy making a big deal out of dad trial? Dad will soon come home. I need to tell him about his soon-to-be son-in-law. Dad must be delighted to learn that Roy cares about him.Suddenly, she remembered that she had missed calls earlier while she was having her bath. She saw Leah's calls, Roy and an unidentified number. She settled to call Leah first, afterward phone her dad to know where he is at the moment, and then call Roy. The unidentified number was international, so she suspected the caller to be Roy. The minute between when Roy and the unidentified number calls came in was close.Ring! Ring!! Ring!!! Leah's phone was ringing."Hello babe," Leah said"Hi, I missed your calls earlier. I was…," Heena tried to explain herself, however, Leah grabbed the words from her."I understand, I know you are going through a tough time," Leah let out."Thanks,
The next day, Trisi was the first to leave the house as she had something urgent to take care of. Avie who always likes to wait on her bed for Heena to ask her out for breakfast woke up early, not exactly as she didn't sleep well at night. She was thinking about the text message she got from an unknown person. She has given much thought to it that she didn't want to see Heena as she woke up. So she went to the kitchen to make breakfast for herself. She's determined to cook whatever she sees in the kitchen, she won't mind eating her burnt offering all in the name of food. The kitchen was so big, it had two freezers. One is basically to store all cooking items while the other is for drinks. She went to the kitchen clueless, thinking that's how easy it was to perform kitchen magic because she has heard Heena speak about how the first thing she set her eyes on in the kitchen inspired her for the cooking. Avie thought of doing the same. When she opened the freezer the first thing she saw
Shawn realised Heena would stop by Leah's house first on her way to the office, so he sent a text to Leah ahead of Heena's arrival to inform her about the slap she got from their mother earlier.Leah felt terrible for Heena, she wished she could wind the hand of time, she has been staying at the entrance for Heena.A few minutes later, Heena pressed the button, and immediately Leah freed the door, the mark on Heena's face was too obvious. "Only heaven knows for long she has been crying on her way here?" Leah wondered inwardly as she walked Heena to her room."What happened to your face?" Leah asked as she can't keep to herself any longer."It's nothing. Hmmm, I guess something entered my eyes," Heena lied."Oh really, the stuff must be huge to have left a mark on your face," Leah said sarcastically."Help me with some of your makeup, let me apply. I'm getting late to work," Heena said to stop Leah asking further questions.Leah grabs the box of makeup, helping Heena to apply it on her
"Shawn, you don't have to be rude to Mom, you know…." Shawn could not let her land safely with her words before he snatched it from her mouth."Does she have to treat you like garbage often to thrill Avie?" Shawn asked angrily. There was silence between the duo for some seconds before Shawn took it upon himself to halt the silence."Sis! I can endure all things, but the thought of mom bringing in a total stranger and expecting us to treat him like our dad drives me nuts." This time there was a little calmness in his voice."I understand how you feel, trust me I feel more awful than you." She put in her opinion."Take a look at what happened in there, Dad would have defended you and not encouraged Mom to slap you. What did the strange man do? Adding fuel to an already burning fire. He's so desperate for Mom's attention," Shawn let out.Well, the reverse is the case, it was Trisi that loves attention so much, and Mr. Pindra was only dancing to her melodies."Shawn, about dad, let's disc
After spending about two hours on the phone talking with her business associate, Daryl turned to see Heena with her fragile personality snoozing at the edge of a family-size well-furnished bed. She grinned inwardly."This girl is so amazing!" Daryl exclaimed before pushing Heena into the middle of the bed so she can sleep soundly, she then wrapped her with a blanket. She thought of taking pictures of Heena's sleeping posture so she could taunt her later but her phone battery percentage is low, so she couldn't have her picture. After she has carefully made Heena sleep comfortably, she then plugged her phone into one of the available charging ports in the hotel room, then took her bath, and joined Heena on the bed to also yield her body to nature's call.Daryl is the only daughter of a business mugu in a country miles away from Swala. Although both parents are from Swala country, they left the city to further their Western education at one of the most recognized universities in the worl
Heena's head was split into a million pieces, thousands of questions roamed and disturbed her already troubled soul. Disturbing questions lurked freely in her head making themselves comfortable as they are there to stay, ever since her father has been locked up in jail there has been no peace at all, both in her home and head.Oh, she was so lost in thought she didn't notice a car headed right towards her, the piercing sounds of tires against the road were ear-splitting. Turns out a lady was the one driving the car, she got down from the car to find a rather dishevelled girl looking at her.It took Heena some minutes to tell herself that she doesn't know the person standing before her."Uhm, are you okay?". The young lady in front of her asked."I think so," Heena muttered and tried to stand but fell immediately."Wait, let me help you up", she offered to help."Thanks". Heena said. The young lady helped Heena to her car."I don't know what you're going through but I can't just leave
As Heena thrust the door open, she began to hear noise coming out of their house. What could the noise be all about? she wondered?.Immediately she arrived in the living room, she saw Shawn fuming in irritation, she knew she heard him say "That can never be possible," before he slammed the door and went out of her sight.Avie is the worst person to talk to at this moment, though she looked weary but she fixed her attention on her phone to get away from having eye contact with Heena."Shawn, wait! Where are you going? Heena cried out."No need to follow him, he will be fine," Trisi said casually. It is easy to guess that their mother is the flesh behind the noise. "Dad hasn't spent a day in Prison. Can we behave ourselves and let peace reign?" Heena cried out.Heena noticed there was a movement in the bathroom. She thought that they are not more than this, could it be that her dad is back? On second thought she remembered that there was no way that their dad would use Shawn's bathroom.
Ro'Sau gripped Heena by her, baby girl gives attention carefully to what I am about to say, Ro'Sau whispered, while Heena nods her head in response."What did you think this place is called?" He asked Heena.Heena raised her brow to have a look at her dad. She wanted to be sure if truly the man standing with her is her dad. His question deserves to be questioned."Don't look at me like that, Princess. Just tell Daddy what your answer is," Ro'Sau let out funnily."Even a blind man knows that everything about this building is Prison," she reacted."You are wrong dear," Ro'Sau said Heena came to be disturbed. The inscription outside says Prison. How come her daddy is saying otherwise. Heena possessed the facial expression of explain yourself to me, because I am lost."Dear here is not a prison, but a school to learn more about life," Ro'Sau let out, though his mind was heavy. He never saw it coming even in his dream that one day his wall would crack down overnight. The worst of all, he
The guard glanced at the $100 in his hand carefully, the silence was already killing Heena. She couldn't resist the temptation of not seeing her dad, so she tried to barge in if it could work as the guards are busy sending secret codes to each other."You only have 5 min in there," said one of the guards seated by the corner of the gate.Heena nodded her head in affirmation, and she took a few steps forward to proceed into gaining access to the main building."Where did you think you were going?" A thick voice asked from behind.Heena was terrified by the question and she lost her balance in a split second, she almost reached for the ground, but the empty chair beside her helped her to be on her toes. She was still in a daze. A single question made all her limbs weak, she was standing in the midst of the guards and Leah, however, she was seeing a different thing in her mind."Young lady, I don't mean to frighten you away, wait right here for my return," the thick voice guard said to H
They drove for about one hour from the court to their house not a single word was heard from one another. It was an abrupt silence, and Trisi was driven with resentment. If not for the fact that the road was less busy, another headline would have surfaced in the news. Immediately they got to the house, it was a busy day for them, they all went to their room, they were all acting up like they had lost a dear one to untimely death. Yes! Prison is not a home to dwell in for anyone, but as long as there is life, there is always hope.Heena spent thirty minutes in her room before she rushed out of the house without a word as others were in their room respectfully. She called Leah on the phone to meet her up somewhere far from her house. In less than thirty minutes Leah showed up."Hey! What's wrong?" Leah asked"Nothing, I needed someone to escort me to the prison," Heena answered back."Oh my! You scared me on the phone with the way you sounded," Leah confessed."Sorry about that, I was
Despite all the shreds of evidence presented in the court, Heena and Shawn still believed that their dad was innocent. Their dad gives more attention to moral values than anything else. How could such a person be found wanting for an illicit act? This is a question that is worth asking.Ro'Sau was led out of the courtroom by a few guards, heading to the bus that will take him and other criminals to the prison.Heena ran as fast as she could to her dad. She was crying and shouting "dad! I know you are innocent. We will fight this till the end." Her cry almost made her dad tear up, as the man that he is, he had to control his emotions. Shawn also walked up to his dad and hugged him tightly. The guards understood so they gave them time to say goodbye to each other. Avie stand aloof, she doesn't know if she should cry or scream, but she did wear a sad look. Trisi went to see her husband briefly before he was taken away."Please look after the family well for me," Ro'Sau confessed to Tris
