Ro'Sau and his wife were fierce with one another that night, the elation lasted a while. He watched his wife fall asleep on his arm before he went to his room. He knew he left the file in his car, he was exhausted that he let the file be.
Trisi was in a good mood the following morning, not like her daily routine she would have been inside her room, waiting for Heena's breakfast call. But this morning Trisi was the first to be up, she switched on the living room light and then walked to the kitchen. She looked at the menu for the day, it was on Thursday, and on the menu list were Breakfast Burritos.Breakfast Burritos filled with sausage, eggs, cheese, and fresh avocado salsa, these bodega-style are delish any time of day! It takes up to twenty-five minutes to prepare all the Burritos ingredients and fifteen minutes to cook, so, all in all, it is forty minutes. Trisi was in the kitchen arranging all the ingredients together. She brought out first the Avocado-tomato Salsa ingredients;1 large avocado, peeled, pitted, and diced½ cup diced seeded tomatoes, from 1 to 2 tomatoes1 small shallot, minced (about 2 tablespoons)1 clove garlic, minced1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, from 1 lime½ teaspoon salt¼ teaspoon ground cumin¼ cup fresh chopped cilantroThen, she checked the burritos ingredients in her menu book and it is as followed;4 large eggs¼ teaspoon smoked paprika¼ teaspoon salt½ lb spicy sausage (such as chorizo, Italian, or anything you like), removed from casings1⅓ cups (6 oz) shredded Monterey Jack cheese4 (10-in) burrito-size flour tortillasVegetable oil.She was making the Avocado-tomato Salsa, placed all of the ingredients in a medium bowl, and mixed to combine. She was whisking the eggs with the smoked paprika and salt, Ro'Sau woke from his slumber and was heading outside to get the file from his car. He heard a noise coming from the kitchen, and he decided to taunt his daughter before going out. From the living room, he has been hailing her. "My dear chef, you always know your way around the kitchen," he said and there was no response.Trisi was smiling because she felt her husband knew she was the one controlling the kitchen at the moment. She deliberately made two pans hit each other and she screamed, Ro'Sau ran very fast to the kitchen. His heart jumped twice and he didn't pay attention to the voice."Are you okay?" He asked panting."I am fine, I almost spilled the oil," Trisi said.It was at this junction that Ro'Sau realized it was Trisi that was in the kitchen, not Heena. Mistakes like this are bound to happen whenever Trisi is in the kitchen cooking. She was somewhat spoiled by her parents, and she almost didn't know how to do anything related to cleaning and cooking.Ro'Sau was happy when Heena was ten years old and Trisi fired their maid. Since then till now Heena has been in charge of kitchen affairs. Shawn can make coffee at least with the help of a coffee maker. Avie is the younger version of her mother, whenever Avie is in the kitchen, kindly get the fire extinguisher available. Though with time Trisi improved but not to perfection."What are you doing in the kitchen?" Ro'Sau raised a question."What does it look like I am doing?" She asked. Ro'Sau paused to double-check his wife, he saw her clearly with an apron on and some ingredients in a bowl."Don't tell me you are making breakfast for the whole family?" Ro'Sau is not sure if Trisi was actually the one in the kitchen, feels so unreal to him. The last time Trisi made breakfast was when Heena was knocked down with a fever, she made toast bread for her and her husband. And asked the children to make an online order for food."Weren't you the one praising me just now in the living room!" Trisi yelled."O' that, I thought it was Heena," Ro'Sau explained."Sorry to burst your bubble, but the kitchen for this hour belongs to Trisi, not Heena," Trisi announced.Ro'Sau watches how his wife heats a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook, stirring frequently, until browned, which takes up to 4 to 5 minutes. And used a slotted spoon to transfer the sausage from the pan to a plate, leaving the drippings in the pan. Reduce the heat to low. Add the eggs and scramble until just cooked through. Transfer the eggs to a plate. She was about to clean the pan, Ro'Sau dashed a kiss to Trisi's forehead and said "you look amazing just now." Trisi blushed and told him to leave the kitchen so that she can concentrate on her makings. "Has your lordship please" he mumbled and went out of the kitchen.Heena woke up and was perceiving an aroma steaming out from the kitchen. "Who could be this early in the kitchen?" She thought to herself and went to the kitchen. She was amazed when she was her mother; assembling the burritos: Spoon about ¼ cup of the avocado salsa onto each tortilla followed by a quarter of the sausage, a quarter of the eggs, and ⅓ cup of cheese. Fold in the sides of the tortilla over the filling and roll, tucking in the edges."Good morning mom," she greeted"Morning dear, do you mind giving me a hand?" Trisi inquired.Heena rushed over to help, she lightly coat the pan with oil and set it over medium heat. When the pan was hot, the burritos were added, seam side down. Cook, covered until the bottom of the burritos are golden brown, about 3 minutes. She flipped the burritos over and continued cooking, covered, until golden, a few minutes more, and they were done with making breakfast burritos.Avie and Shawn woke, brushed their teeth, and came to the breakfast table, the table was already set. At the breakfast table, Avie took a bite from the burrito and found it extraordinarily delicious. "Heena, you have the kitchen spells in your hands," she lauded."When will one say this about you?" Shawn asked to shun Avie off."Do you really think I made this?" Heena asked and both Avie and Shawn stared at her weirdly. Shawn was bold enough to say "if not you, who else can make this kind of magic? Of course there was no sound of the delivery man," he added."This is made by my beautiful wife!" Ro'Sau boosted about Trisi to his children.Trisi found the whole thing funny, whenever Trisi is in a good mood like this, it means something is not right. "Enough of all this chattering, let's eat now," Trisi let out softly and they all dug deep into the breakfast burritos."Mom, can I have one more extra?" Shawn asked. I also want more, Avie said."You both know the road to the kitchen, I believe all the ingredients are there for you to make as many as you wanted," Trisi yelled.Trisi's mood is subject to change frequently. She would be all loving at you, and the next minute she can bark at you like a dog. However, she doesn't get angry at Avie and Shawn as much as she does with Heena. One would think that she gave birth to Heena to a man that abandoned them before meeting her present husband. There was no history of Trisi getting engaged to two men in her youth days and she has no record of being divorced in the past.Trisi was the first to wrap up her breakfast burritos, she left the table to get herself ready for work. Avie has a year left to be a degree holder. Shawn graduated earlier this year, he is spending his days sleeping, hanging out with his friends, and sometimes visiting his mom in the office. After his graduation, Shawn attempted to work in a big firm, Tuyil Pharmaceutical manufacturing company; he failed his interview because he got there three minutes late. He woke up late on his interview day, at his usual wake-up time. They fixed the interview time to 8 o'clock in the morning because there were a lot of applicants that applied for the post. The M.D wanted the interview session to end before the lunch hour. Except for emergencies that don't appear often, Shawn and Avie won't wake up until 7 AM or 7:30 even. Shawn and Avie's habit is to stay in bed till when Heena will call them to come out for their breakfast. On Shawn's interview day, Heena tried to wake him up early at 6 o'clock, but Trisi came out of her room as Heena was knocking at his door."Is the interview not at 8 o'clock? Let him rest till seven o'clock, I know the fastest route to the venue," Trisi said, and Heena replied "yes ma" and went back to the kitchen to resume her routine.Shawn woke up ten minutes past seven. Though he had prepared very hard for the interview. Aside from Venushoods organisation, Tuyil Pharmaceutical manufacturing company is the second largest establishment in Ordana. They accept a fresh graduate and put them through serial training, unlike the other firm that hardly gives the fresh graduate room.Whenever there is an opening in Tuyil there are always many applicants. And their screening begins at your arrival time. They often fixed inappropriate times for their interview, though all the information will be sent ahead to all the applicants. There was a time that they fixed the interview for 6 o'clock in the morning. Before Shawn would properly dress and arrange himself it was already a quarter to eight. One of the rules of the interview is that you have to dress according to the post you are applying for. Shawn studied Microbiology at Ordana State University. His mom drove through the shortcut but there was minor traffic as two vehicles collided against each other before Shawn would get to the interview. It was already three minutes past eight.Trisi was the first to leave the house in the morning for work, she told her husband that she would try to close early from the office as they needed to talk. "Work safe honey," Ro'Sau said standing outside watching her drive the corolla sports car he bought from Molicano last night. He stood till her car was out of his sight. There's another car in the house that Trisi can take to the office, but she chose that because of the portability. Heena was all set for work, she went to bid her father goodbye, it was on Thursday morning. She made her dad promise her he won't do anything related to office work, he would spend his time at home resting. Ro'Sau made the promise even though it was a hard decision for him.Heena went to her office, she studied Marketing and Business study in the same Ordana state university. Avie was preparing for her lecture, she has a class at 9 o'clock, and she's a student of mass communication. Right from the age of five, they've been teasing her that she has the look of a national TV presenter. This was what motivated her into studying mass comm, and she found the class easy to comprehend. After Heena, and Avie left the house, the house was left in the care of the men. Shawn and his Dad discussed a bit about his plans. It has been over two months now since he went for the interview at Tuyil Pharmaceutical manufacturing company and we all know the outcome."Dad, it's either Tuyil or Venushoods, I won't settle for less," he said. There is something Shawn possessed from his father and that's overconfidence."But you know Venushoods won't accept you without any experience," Ro'Sau said."I know dad, and that's why Trail is the place for me," Shawn bragged."You already missed your chance at the interview, did you know how long it will take before they announce a new opening?" Ro'Sau asked."It won't take long dad, I did well for the interview but I went there late, they will contact me soon," Shawn said"How sure are you on this?" Ro'Sau inquired."I didn't just tell you guys, I was told that they will review my profile again after three months," Shawn said. Though Ro'Sau finds it hard to believe. Shawn was tired of the conversation, so he went to his room to resume his video game.Ro'Sau was in his room, working on the file. At about 10:30 in the morning, there was a knock at the gate and the doorbell rang. Shawn went out to see who was at the gate. "We are here for your dad," they said."You want to see my d-a-d," Shawn stammered, replying to the weird-looking unknown guests. He didn't open the door for them at first, he was not sure if his dad was expecting any visitors, so he went inside to inform his dad of the unknown guest. As a matter of fact, the Ro'Sau family hardly received visitors for like five years when they lost the eldest member of the family."Shawn, who is the at the gate?" Ro'Sau asked."Three weird men, they claimed that they are here for you," Shawn let it out."Here for me! Ro'Sau exclaimed, but I wasn't expecting anyone," Ro'Sau spoke"Maybe I should send them away," Shawn suggested."No, it's better I go to them," Ro'Sau said and went to the gate. He saw the three men standing outside his gate, he opened the gate and offered them to come inside."Sir we are from Sector F police station, there was a petition against you, so we are here for questioning. I am Inspector Gabi," the officer said and they showed him their identity card."Let's go in fo
When Heena got into the Inspector's office, she noted that the atmosphere was not friendly at all. "Good afternoon sirs," Heena greeted them in low spirit."Welcome!" Inspector Zenaye and Ro'Sau responded while Ijia tightened his face. Heena sat beside her father, however, she was not feeling comfortable as there was silence in the room.Mr. Ro'Sau asked if he could go outside to discuss this with Heena."Who is she to you?" Ijia asked rudely."She's my first daughter," Ro'Sau replied in a good manner. It looks as though Ijia has overtaken the place of Inspector Zenaye. He took the questioning so seriously as if there was a mega prize for him to win with the case."She's your daughter, so what?" Ijia muttered rudely."Please, Can I have a minute with my daughter outside?" Ro'Sau pleaded."Yes, you can," Inspector Zenaye said ahead of inspector Ijia. Seems Ijia has had an unfinished battle with Ro'Sau in the past because his outrageous behaviour towards him calls for questioning."Dad
Heena saw a text message from her boyfriend. "Dear so sorry about your dad, I know this is hard for you, see you soon," Roy texted Why is Roy making a big deal out of dad trial? Dad will soon come home. I need to tell him about his soon-to-be son-in-law. Dad must be delighted to learn that Roy cares about him.Suddenly, she remembered that she had missed calls earlier while she was having her bath. She saw Leah's calls, Roy and an unidentified number. She settled to call Leah first, afterward phone her dad to know where he is at the moment, and then call Roy. The unidentified number was international, so she suspected the caller to be Roy. The minute between when Roy and the unidentified number calls came in was close.Ring! Ring!! Ring!!! Leah's phone was ringing."Hello babe," Leah said"Hi, I missed your calls earlier. I was…," Heena tried to explain herself, however, Leah grabbed the words from her."I understand, I know you are going through a tough time," Leah let out."Thanks,
The next day, Trisi was the first to leave the house as she had something urgent to take care of. Avie who always likes to wait on her bed for Heena to ask her out for breakfast woke up early, not exactly as she didn't sleep well at night. She was thinking about the text message she got from an unknown person. She has given much thought to it that she didn't want to see Heena as she woke up. So she went to the kitchen to make breakfast for herself. She's determined to cook whatever she sees in the kitchen, she won't mind eating her burnt offering all in the name of food. The kitchen was so big, it had two freezers. One is basically to store all cooking items while the other is for drinks. She went to the kitchen clueless, thinking that's how easy it was to perform kitchen magic because she has heard Heena speak about how the first thing she set her eyes on in the kitchen inspired her for the cooking. Avie thought of doing the same. When she opened the freezer the first thing she saw
Avie's belly creates a rumbling sound, she's ravenous but pride won't let her plead with her sister for help. Shawn noticed he won't attain a thing if he asked Heena to do as always her kitchen magic. He placed an order online and asked the vendor to bring any available breakfast meal for three. He knew his mom had gone out because her car was not in the garage. Heena won't let her phone rest, she kept on calling lawyer Bei's line that was not going through. She browsed online for the address of lawyer Bei's in-law, but she found nothing. Her dad won't say anything without lawyer Bei and today is the weekend, if they can't get him out today, he will have to sleep more days in prison. She has been dawdling for Roy's company lawyer's number. He promised to forward the number to her after he had spoken with the lawyer formally. Her only hope left is to ask the Tulip-Consult lawyer for help. Heena felt the case is not a very deep one. All the lawyer needs to do is to guide her dad in t
As soon as Avie heard the sound of Heena shutting the gate, she came outside. Heena's leftover meal was still hanging on the table. She left in a hurry, she unintentionally neglected such a small matter.Avie saw Shawn pressing his phone, he sat on one of the chairs in the dining. She snubbed him and went to the kitchen. She saw the wrapped package in the cabinet. First, she looked inside the trash can, she saw two rough packages without the content, this gave her the clue that the wrapped one belonged to her.She opened the package, it was chicken and waffles, the same as what the others got. She placed them on the tray with water and was moving to the dining centre, her phone chimed. She immediately put the tray on the table and scrolled through her message. A picture was sent to her from the same unknown number. The anonymous person captured the moment when Heena was laughing with her dad at the police station a while ago. She became so enraged."Shawn, did you have some free time,
Avie could not believe her ears when Shawn quoted a while ago that he regretted bringing her to the station. "Shawn you don't mean what you said earlier right?" She consulted while Shawn on the other hand held her mute.He wanted her to feel awful, so she could suffer what others go through any time she nailed them to the cross with her utterances. Besides he has not done anything wrong that would make their mom yell at him because of Avie. The tranquillity between the duo can be likened to that of a cemetery. Shawn is not ready yet to break the silence between them at all. After about forty minutes, they arrived at their house, and Shawn switched off the engine. As soon as Avie got down from the car to open the gate, he started the engine and zoomed off.He drove very fast for about ten minutes, he packed the car by the roadside, let down the glass, and screamed "God why!!!". He was about to resume driving before a call came in. "Hello, meet me in my office," the caller said and hun
Heena was enmeshed between saving her dad and being an obedient daughter. Roy forwarded to her an attorney contact. Now that Heena knew that no lawyer is keen to take up her dad's case, she wanted to reach out to Roy's family lawyer. But, then she thought back to her dad who kicked against the idea. She was excessively vulnerable, she just wished for the trial to be over and done with. She agreed on having a dialogue with Roy and learning what his opinion would be. If he was in her shoes right now, what would he do?Ring! Ring!! Ring!!! Roy's phone rang twice before he picked it up."Hi, babe," Heena spoke without life in her."My shawty! What's up?" Roy raised a question."I am fine," she lied."You didn't sound like it. Did you get the number that I sent to you?" Roy asked."Yes, but I am yet to reach him out""Watchu waiting for girlie? Time is not on our side. Call him and fix an appointment with him. I have already briefed him and he has agreed to take the case…" Roy expressing h
Shawn realised Heena would stop by Leah's house first on her way to the office, so he sent a text to Leah ahead of Heena's arrival to inform her about the slap she got from their mother earlier.Leah felt terrible for Heena, she wished she could wind the hand of time, she has been staying at the entrance for Heena.A few minutes later, Heena pressed the button, and immediately Leah freed the door, the mark on Heena's face was too obvious. "Only heaven knows for long she has been crying on her way here?" Leah wondered inwardly as she walked Heena to her room."What happened to your face?" Leah asked as she can't keep to herself any longer."It's nothing. Hmmm, I guess something entered my eyes," Heena lied."Oh really, the stuff must be huge to have left a mark on your face," Leah said sarcastically."Help me with some of your makeup, let me apply. I'm getting late to work," Heena said to stop Leah asking further questions.Leah grabs the box of makeup, helping Heena to apply it on her
"Shawn, you don't have to be rude to Mom, you know…." Shawn could not let her land safely with her words before he snatched it from her mouth."Does she have to treat you like garbage often to thrill Avie?" Shawn asked angrily. There was silence between the duo for some seconds before Shawn took it upon himself to halt the silence."Sis! I can endure all things, but the thought of mom bringing in a total stranger and expecting us to treat him like our dad drives me nuts." This time there was a little calmness in his voice."I understand how you feel, trust me I feel more awful than you." She put in her opinion."Take a look at what happened in there, Dad would have defended you and not encouraged Mom to slap you. What did the strange man do? Adding fuel to an already burning fire. He's so desperate for Mom's attention," Shawn let out.Well, the reverse is the case, it was Trisi that loves attention so much, and Mr. Pindra was only dancing to her melodies."Shawn, about dad, let's disc
After spending about two hours on the phone talking with her business associate, Daryl turned to see Heena with her fragile personality snoozing at the edge of a family-size well-furnished bed. She grinned inwardly."This girl is so amazing!" Daryl exclaimed before pushing Heena into the middle of the bed so she can sleep soundly, she then wrapped her with a blanket. She thought of taking pictures of Heena's sleeping posture so she could taunt her later but her phone battery percentage is low, so she couldn't have her picture. After she has carefully made Heena sleep comfortably, she then plugged her phone into one of the available charging ports in the hotel room, then took her bath, and joined Heena on the bed to also yield her body to nature's call.Daryl is the only daughter of a business mugu in a country miles away from Swala. Although both parents are from Swala country, they left the city to further their Western education at one of the most recognized universities in the worl
Heena's head was split into a million pieces, thousands of questions roamed and disturbed her already troubled soul. Disturbing questions lurked freely in her head making themselves comfortable as they are there to stay, ever since her father has been locked up in jail there has been no peace at all, both in her home and head.Oh, she was so lost in thought she didn't notice a car headed right towards her, the piercing sounds of tires against the road were ear-splitting. Turns out a lady was the one driving the car, she got down from the car to find a rather dishevelled girl looking at her.It took Heena some minutes to tell herself that she doesn't know the person standing before her."Uhm, are you okay?". The young lady in front of her asked."I think so," Heena muttered and tried to stand but fell immediately."Wait, let me help you up", she offered to help."Thanks". Heena said. The young lady helped Heena to her car."I don't know what you're going through but I can't just leave
As Heena thrust the door open, she began to hear noise coming out of their house. What could the noise be all about? she wondered?.Immediately she arrived in the living room, she saw Shawn fuming in irritation, she knew she heard him say "That can never be possible," before he slammed the door and went out of her sight.Avie is the worst person to talk to at this moment, though she looked weary but she fixed her attention on her phone to get away from having eye contact with Heena."Shawn, wait! Where are you going? Heena cried out."No need to follow him, he will be fine," Trisi said casually. It is easy to guess that their mother is the flesh behind the noise. "Dad hasn't spent a day in Prison. Can we behave ourselves and let peace reign?" Heena cried out.Heena noticed there was a movement in the bathroom. She thought that they are not more than this, could it be that her dad is back? On second thought she remembered that there was no way that their dad would use Shawn's bathroom.
Ro'Sau gripped Heena by her, baby girl gives attention carefully to what I am about to say, Ro'Sau whispered, while Heena nods her head in response."What did you think this place is called?" He asked Heena.Heena raised her brow to have a look at her dad. She wanted to be sure if truly the man standing with her is her dad. His question deserves to be questioned."Don't look at me like that, Princess. Just tell Daddy what your answer is," Ro'Sau let out funnily."Even a blind man knows that everything about this building is Prison," she reacted."You are wrong dear," Ro'Sau said Heena came to be disturbed. The inscription outside says Prison. How come her daddy is saying otherwise. Heena possessed the facial expression of explain yourself to me, because I am lost."Dear here is not a prison, but a school to learn more about life," Ro'Sau let out, though his mind was heavy. He never saw it coming even in his dream that one day his wall would crack down overnight. The worst of all, he
The guard glanced at the $100 in his hand carefully, the silence was already killing Heena. She couldn't resist the temptation of not seeing her dad, so she tried to barge in if it could work as the guards are busy sending secret codes to each other."You only have 5 min in there," said one of the guards seated by the corner of the gate.Heena nodded her head in affirmation, and she took a few steps forward to proceed into gaining access to the main building."Where did you think you were going?" A thick voice asked from behind.Heena was terrified by the question and she lost her balance in a split second, she almost reached for the ground, but the empty chair beside her helped her to be on her toes. She was still in a daze. A single question made all her limbs weak, she was standing in the midst of the guards and Leah, however, she was seeing a different thing in her mind."Young lady, I don't mean to frighten you away, wait right here for my return," the thick voice guard said to H
They drove for about one hour from the court to their house not a single word was heard from one another. It was an abrupt silence, and Trisi was driven with resentment. If not for the fact that the road was less busy, another headline would have surfaced in the news. Immediately they got to the house, it was a busy day for them, they all went to their room, they were all acting up like they had lost a dear one to untimely death. Yes! Prison is not a home to dwell in for anyone, but as long as there is life, there is always hope.Heena spent thirty minutes in her room before she rushed out of the house without a word as others were in their room respectfully. She called Leah on the phone to meet her up somewhere far from her house. In less than thirty minutes Leah showed up."Hey! What's wrong?" Leah asked"Nothing, I needed someone to escort me to the prison," Heena answered back."Oh my! You scared me on the phone with the way you sounded," Leah confessed."Sorry about that, I was
Despite all the shreds of evidence presented in the court, Heena and Shawn still believed that their dad was innocent. Their dad gives more attention to moral values than anything else. How could such a person be found wanting for an illicit act? This is a question that is worth asking.Ro'Sau was led out of the courtroom by a few guards, heading to the bus that will take him and other criminals to the prison.Heena ran as fast as she could to her dad. She was crying and shouting "dad! I know you are innocent. We will fight this till the end." Her cry almost made her dad tear up, as the man that he is, he had to control his emotions. Shawn also walked up to his dad and hugged him tightly. The guards understood so they gave them time to say goodbye to each other. Avie stand aloof, she doesn't know if she should cry or scream, but she did wear a sad look. Trisi went to see her husband briefly before he was taken away."Please look after the family well for me," Ro'Sau confessed to Tris
