BRIAN'S POV The exhaustion in Blair was pretty very obvious and I didn't bother to wake her up. Before the first ray of sun hit the surface, I ran to the car and was on my way to Winchester. I had spent all night, trying over and over again to reach out to Stacy, but neither her number, nor Collins’ was connecting and I found the word ‘peace,’ very far from my abode. The two hours drive to Winchester, had to be the longest I had had in all my life. I drove straight to the office and found the gates heavily locked with chains and a gigantic padlock. “What's the meaning of this?” I started yelling at the top of my voice. “Is anybody here? What is happening?” I continued yelling. It was the morning of a weekday and even if it wasn't, I expected guards and security personnels here at the gate. I didn't rant for long, before I figured it was not helping, so I rushed back home. To my greatest surprise, I found the gates of my mansion, equally heavily locked, but this time, wrapped
BRIAN’S POV “The Police are after you,” Stacy said. “Yes, Stacy. I can see that.” I replied, with a little aggression. “But why?” I sat for a minute. “The queen reported missing gold bars worth about fifty billion dollars, Brian” Collins said, “According to her reports, you are the only person she trusted with the location of the gold bars, in the period you spent with her “ he continued. “What?!” I yelled. “This is ridiculous!” Stacy and Collins watched me throw tantrums and then stared at themselves. “Would you happen to have anything to do with that?” Stacy asked an even more ridiculous question. “What?” “Are you joking right now?” Collins and Stacy had their reservations in their eyes. “I cannot believe you both!” I yelled. Collins took a deep breath, “but Brian, the Queen isn't going to cook up lies against you “ he said. “Shut up, Collins!” I yelled. “The nerve of you both.” I said. “How could you? I trusted you both to have my back.” “But we do, Brian,” Stacy sa
BLAIR'S POV “Brian?” “Brian!” I got out of bed and searched everywhere around the house for him, but did not find him anywhere. I left the room and hurried downstairs, but only found Ashley, taking care of father. It was obvious that sooner than later, we were going to need a male nurse, who could be carrying my father around. Watching Ashley take care of my father, filled my eyes with tears. The house was both a blessing and a curse for her. It had quickly snatched the joy and the chances of progress, which it gave her. Ashley could not see school through and had to pause her education, just to take care of dad. Even though I did not understand the complete stress of having to take care of my father, I understood the pain of leaving school, to tend to home worries and I really thought that Ashley deserved better. She had proven loyalty and love to my father and had stuck with him through the most unpleasant and trying situations, even when no one else was there. I wiped my
BLAIR’S POV I have been forced into a moment of deep thought and lamentations.‘Was all of this trouble going to ever end? when?’We had literally gone from trouble after trouble, from chaos into more chaos and now I was overwhelmed with it all. I did not want to continue. I wish I did not have to, but you felt too late to quit. On one hand, it was relieving to know that Brian was not dead. On the other hand, I was bepuzzled. ‘What in goodness’ name was going on?’I needed answers that it didn't seem I would be getting anytime soon, and now I had to process fear, doubt and anger and an immense worry. Luckily, no one knew that we had not moved very far from home. Matter of fact, Jane assumed the weird returned to Winchester or another state of choice. So, it was easy to stay out of trouble as long as we stayed out of sight, or so I thought. I just sat still in my father's company, lost in thoughts, when Ashley returned to report. “Blair, we have nothing in the house, absolutely
BRIAN'S POV It took quite a long conversation, but I finally walked Blair throughout all I knew so far. Neither of us was finding this development a welcomed one, but at the time, we decided to accept it as one of the obstacles to the love we had to deal with.“Remember, Blair, whatever happens, remain in the house.” I sounded a warning. “It's safe there. No one knows you are there.” Blair was crying uncontrollably, while we spoke and she barely said any words. “I love you.” I ended and hung up. “She's here,” Stacy announced. My desperation had pushed me to taking desperate measures. Jennice thought that my disguise to visit her was terrible and asked me to leave. She said she was going to drop by and she did the very next day. I watched her walked towards me and took a seat directly opposite me. “Even in the face of death, you're still out here staking it all for love.” Jennice said, rolling her eyes. “A good evening to you too, Jennice,” I responded in sarcasm. “I didn't t
BLAIR'S POV One day ran into days and into longer periods of absence and our communication gradually became more and more sparse. Brian was trapped in Winchester and since they assumed that he was dead, he had to resolve it before coming into light. My father had also not stopped tryung to indicate the presence of a file and even though he could not say so much, or anything at all, it was evident that he had something to say, especially about the company which was now in Jane’s name. Jane had began living her CEO life over the company, firing all the staff and living the company's gates shut, for a while. It was now, two weeks later, that she was reopening the gates, bigger and better. I watched her from a distance and we tried to stay out of her sight. Ashley went out and got some food stuff, as often as she could with her money, and we had to manage our resources to take us longer, so she didn't run into the wrong crowd on any of her outings. I got really tired it this lifes
BLAIR'S POV I hadn't gone for any files at all, but had to come up with something, after everything Jane said. My mind kept revolving around the state of Brian’s company.‘Was the company in trouble?’ ‘If it was, why didn't Brian say anything to me?’ ‘Was that why he ran away to Winchester?’‘Was all of this just a scheme to keep me away from the problem?’ ‘If Brian was innocent, why did he have to be in hiding?’ ‘Perhaps, he took the gold because the company was suffering and he didn't want to tell me.’ ‘Or was this all just a lie?’ I hoped. My thoughts were going in a million different directions and I wasn't sure what to think or say anymore. I snuck right back into my room, with a bag of my father's files, a very big, heavy bag and fell freely into the bed, landing on my back. It was the middle of the night, when I got a call from an unknown caller I.D. “Blair,” I immediately recognized the voice. He was of course, the only one to call my father's phone as the way of co
BLAIR’S POV My joy was boundless and I squeezed Sebastine in a hug, after I opened the door and found him with Blair. I didn't care how he found me, I was just glad that he did. “Glad to finally have comforting company, Sebastine.” I said, from a pure heart and with no disregard to Ashley. Ashley had been more than supportive over the period and I had come to love her so much, but sometimes, it was unbearable, just us and having to deal with a lot of crazy things that neither of us were equipped for. Despite her high Intelligence Quotient and how sweet and kind she was, it was evident that this was an overwhelming life that we had and it was worse than living in a garage and having to worry only about the things that we need to eat. “Blair,” Sebastine called softly, “what is going on?” He probed. “Brian asked that I come here as immediately as I could.” “He's afraid you'll hurt yourself.” Sebastine said, after taking a seat.“Hurt myself?” I chuckled, leaving Sebastine in shock
