BLAIR’S POV My life may not be perfect yet and maybe it was never going to hit perfection, but at least it had love in it and in the end, I was willing to stake my life on the fact our love was going conquer all. We were preparing for the trip to Winchester, to witness Stacy’s wedding and I was living happy. The wedding was tomorrow and we were packing up. “I really hope I do not forget anything,” I said, fitting all my luggage in my bag, three hours before my flight. “Why are you worried?” Brian asked. “You can literally travel without a single thing and get everything you need. You know that, right?” he probed. I stared at him with raised brows. It was typical of Brian to remind me that he had more than enough to shut the state down, if I willed. “Is Sebastine coming?” I asked. “I don’t know,” Brian responded, “I did tell him we would be gone for a few days for Stacy’s wedding, but I never got any feedback from him,” he reported. “Right.” I responded, barely above a whispe
BLAIR’S POVLove, they say, is a choice and so was trust. So, here I was, trusting the man I love and on a trip to Winchester for Stacy’s wedding. We couldn’t find Sebastine anywhere and we were almost late for our flight, in fact, we barely made it on board. When we arrived, we alighted at the mansion and rested till the next day, which was Stacy’s wedding. I was a lot quieter and lived more in my thoughts than I was in reality. “You know you have to quit sulking right?” Brian said, walking into the room as I prepared. I responded with a weak smile off the side of my lips. “I’m ready.”Overall, the wedding went on beautifully well and Stacy and I finally had the long overdue discussion, after the wedding ceremony. “Brian is a good man,” she said, “But I have no doubt that he would be happy with you, because you are equally a gem, Blair,” “I am so sorry for all the hurt and pain I caused you. ““At a point, I was drowned in confusion.” I didn’t know whether or not I wanted B
BLAIR’S POV “Dear God!” I exclaimed, as the folder popped up open with series of the crimes that Jane was involved in and roles she played. It turned out, Jane was a lot more than we thought and when Steven discovered, he began to try to pin her down, making his own investigations. Some of the content were phone conversations with her accomplices and a few of Steven’s conversations with them via mail. Jane definitely had trusted eyes everywhere in Vegas, and every one who tried to betray her, communicating with Steven, who was emailing with an anonymous account, Jane always had a way of silencing the person. This was something I could not deny, especially seeing how she treated Kieran. “Down town is a location in Vegas,” Brian said, as we went through the files. “Perhaps her headquarters or something,” Stacy said. While they kept trying to decipher, I had my hands placed over my mouth and was still struggling with the disbelief. ‘There was no way this was happening.’ I though
BRIAN’S POV Sebastine was completely frozen to be hearing our discovery and now we had full team of five.Stacy thought that this was a case to be handled by ourselves and not handed to the police. “Trust me, I have dealt with high-level criminals like her, and people like her only go down to the grave.” Stacy said, as we sat down in our hotel room to discuss. Luckily, we had a free hotel room for Collins and Stacy, and even though it was not so much of a honeymoon anymore, I constantly hoped that the space was working for them. We didn’t arrive and run straight to Vegas, we had to strategize for a few days at Primm, and on the first night, it was a meeting with the team. “I couldn’t care any less if she made it out dead or alive,” Brian shared his few. Sebastine’s silence and the reserved look in his shared his obvious desire for her to be alive and I also just wanted to see her rot in jail and think her life choices over and over. I also would want closure and some answers, s
BLAIR’S POV We followed Ronald into the warehouse building, all our hearts seeking answers, the curiosity on our faces could not be hidden.“As much as you don’t want to hear this, she’s innocent of the crimes,” Ronald said, “Well, most of it.”“Not to say that she doesn’t have a couple of dark secrets herself, but there is someone else.” He said. “This does not make any sense.” Brian said, after critically thinking. “What you are trying to tell us, is that Mrs. Williams has a lookalike, roaming the streets of Vegas, who somehow happened to be some sort of crime lord?” Brian translated everything Ronald had been explaining. Ronald had gone over his explanation over and over again, three times now, but it was indeed a hard pill to swallow and believing it was just very difficult. “Whether it is a look alike, or a twin, no one knows for sure yet,” Ronald said. “Or it’s just her evil self, roaming the streets and executing her heart’s content.” Brian said, rolling his eyes to back
BLAIR’S POVJane was not showing no interest in speaking with us and it was already sun down. My father and Ashley started trying to reach her phone, three hours after her arrival and they hadn’t stopped since then. “I did not tell them anything about where I was going, of course they will be worried.” She said, as we continued to complain about their now incessant calls. “We would make no progress like this,” Brian said, “No, we won’t,” Brian said, “but we also can’t keep her here,” I said. “My father would be worried sick and you can’t tell how he’s going to react,” “She already spent days indoors and you saw how he took that. Her leaving home and walking out without a single word would stress him further and I am unwilling to have a heart attack on my hands.”Jane was already very weak, but she kept staring at us, allowing us to make fools of ourselves. “We have to let her go,” Stacy said. Brian was now more invested in this case than any of us. He had mentioned countless t
BLAIR’S POV “I find it hard to believe that you do not know this imposter.” Brian said, “Yea,” Collins supported. “If someone has been roaming around town in your face, for the decades now, isn’t that enough time to find whoever it is?” Collins asked. “Exactly my point,” Brian said, “I mean, you are Jane Williams, and as far as the state CID is concerned, you are one of their best,”“The finest of the finest,” Stacy chipped in, “Surely, if there was someone else, you would know, unless…” Stacy paused. We were all keen to hear what Stacy had to say, especially since she had higher experience in complicated matters as such. She looked very deep in thoughts for a while. “Stacy? Unless?” Brian urged her. “Unless, somehow, all of this benefit you.” Stacy said, Jane’s eyes widened a bit. We all saw a lot of sense in her analysis. “So, what’s in it for you?” I probed. Jane was quiet, while the rest of us just tried to think out what indeed was going on. “There are systems that b
BLAIR’S POV It was both creepy, but yet quite a relief that they were expecting us, as it kind of just set the mood. “Oh, she came with a party,” the other lady said. Roberts got out of the sofa and the lady followed. They were both covered under a duvet, at the time of our arrival. “Jane!” the woman called. “How have you been, sis,” she went to her with a hug. Jane did not reciprocate the energy and her confusion at that very moment, made me believe everything Jane was saying. She was obviously clueless on the lady before us.“Have a seat.” She gestured to us all. The woman was definitely sassier than Jane was, and in her presence, Jane was pretty very calm and modest. This was the first I was going to witness and it was out of this world to know that there was someone who’s mere presence alone humbled Jane so much. It was an executive lounge with a living room that had more than enough sofas to carry us all and since we were here for answers, we did not hesitate to seat. “I
