Chapter Sixteen

Sophie

I kept ambling back and forth in my room, as it became harder to breathe. The Shapeshifter demon was close, keeping an eye on me likewise everyothee person, and for all I knew he could be anyone and that only made me suspicious of everyone.

Each guard I passed, my heart will immediately pick up pace 'could he be the one'. Even when I was served breakfast, I panicked and refused to eat it until the maid had tasted it, I knew she found it really strange, but I couldn't blame her, I had already made a mistake and couldn't make another, what I needed to do now most of all things was to be cautious, because even the least bit of carelessness could ruined me.

Tired of drowning in my thoughts, I ambled out of my room stealing glances around the palace. It had beautiful designs of gold wings on the yellow wall, that looked almost like a wolf, I didn't have the seal to examine or study it, not when my heart was close to being set on fire.

Ambling around the first floor, I decide to take a bold step to the second floor, it was good if I familarised myself with the house since I would be stocked here for a while. My heart kept beating frantically as I ascended the stairs to the second floor, turning back every second to make sure I wasn't followed.

The first thing my eyes caught sight of wasa library stocked with books on our shelves. Books were everything to me, they were like oxygen, and a way of travelling without even moving your feet. Sprinted to the door, I pulled it opened, not expecting it to open but it did, causing my heart to swell in joy.

Ambling to the shelf, my eyes darted round the various books covers, fictions were my favorite books to read because the best thing about reading was to be able to escape from your life, to be able to read hundreds or even thousands of other lives. Non fiction doesn't have that power, it doesn't change you the way fiction does.

To me, if you aren't affected some how even if it is the slightest change you aren't reading the right book. I would love to think that every novel I have read has become a part of me and created who I am in a sense.

Suddenly my eyes fell on a cover, that had a half naked girl cloaked in a red garment, and a write up that read; A comprehensive guide on how to seduce any man. From the title it.obviously wasn't a romance book, yet my wolf Myra felt thrilled to read it, again another reason I read was to ease curiosity. I didn't plan on seducing anyone but the cover and title were both intriguing, I couldn't help but wonder what would be it's content, especially as it was in the romance category, like wise my inquisitive part, so I pulled out the large book, stumbled back, to say the book was big would be an understatement, I would rather settle for weighty, overwhelming, massive.

For now this should be enough to escape my constant thoughts of not being cautious or how the Shapeshifter demon was watching me, so I ambled my way to the door, as I descended the stairs, and strode back to my room.

Just then, my eyes flicked to the bottle of Evelyn scent which I had stolen, I was fast running out of it, and I needed to visit any big supermarket so I could buy more, it was a plain scent of books and wood, the kind that make you think of old libraries, and well worn in furnitures as well, which could easily be found in any super market. It was very necessary I bought one, before mine ran out and my true identity gets exposed. That was something I could never afford to happen.

'I missed going for runs Sophie, let's go for a run'. Myra whined, as I shook my head, now wasn't the time for it, especially as the Shapeshifter demon was in this pack, it was very necessary I traded with caution, and if at all I was leaving the palace, then it would simply be because I wish to purchase more of Evelyn scent.

Sighing I decide to give Aurora a call, after ensuring my location was turned of, that was how cautious I was now.

"Sophie, were have you been. You left me worried". Her loud, and excited yet sad voice broke out from the other line.

I couldn't tell her I had married Reece, I didn't trust her. I didn't trust anyone.

"Sophie". She yelled. "You left because my mom was always mean and strict towards you, isn't it".

When I don't sat anything she continues. "Listen Sophie you need to come back, I missed seeing you around. Besides Alpha Reece hasn't come in search of you to prosecute you, I guess he has forgiven you". She murmured, as I nodded, before remembering I'm on a call and she can't see me, but only here my voice.

"I will be back soon okay, there's nothing to worry about, and also it you or aunt Laura, need anything to not hesitate to ask me".

"Okay Sophie. I love you and be safe". She murmured, a smile breaking through her voice, as my heart swelled, knowing someone out they still cared for me, and without another word I cut the call, deleting the call log and flinging the phone to my bed, as I lied flat on back, tired, yet strong.
