A mistake

"Why are you shocked? The pack needs a Luna and you also need a mate or are you planning to remain single forever?" one of the members asked Jax.

"No, no of course not." Jax replied.

"Well you don't need to worry, we will get you one."

"I... I don't think that is necessary. I am capable of getting a mate on my own." Jax replied.

"Really? Are you going to get another homicidal mate again?"

Dean was furious and Jax had to hold his arm to restrain him.

"Don't bother yourself Jax, just continue being a good Alpha. We will get you a good supportive Luna."

"Thank you for your help." Jax managed to say.

"You are welcome." the member replied with a condescending smile on his face.

The werewolf council members left whispering and laughing mockingly among themselves.

"I hate them so much." Dean said angrily.

"I hate them too." Jax said.

"So why are you still tolerating them? let's give them a piece of our mind."

"Dean, our pack is still weak, we don't have any allies. We can't afford to annoy the council. Just have a little patience."

"Fine, I will. So do you want to eat dinner with I and Trina?"

"I am not really hungry" he told Dean.

"But Alpha..." Dean started to protest.

"Dean, you should be going. Trina is waiting for you." Jax said and walked away.

Dean looked at him as he walked away and sighed in defeat before going to meet his mate Trina for dinner.

THE CITY OF NEW LANTERNS

"I can't wait for tonight." Sue, Lilian's friend and her co worker said as they finished up that day.

"Why, what's happening?" Lilian asked.

"We are getting paid today and I can't wait to go out for dinner and give myself a treat."

"Oh! We are getting paid today?" it had completely skipped Lilian's mind that she would be getting her first payment today.

"Yes we are, you have to join me for dinner today, I am sure Lavender can wait a little longer." Sue said with a pout because Lilian was fond of refusing her offers to hang out.

"Yes, I will go out with you. But we have to go home first so I can feed him. Deal?"

"deal." Sue replied happily.

They finished their work and were about to head home when their phones dinged with the notification of the payment alert of their salaries.

Sue checked her phone and did a happy dance. Lilian on the other hand checked her phone and frowned in confusion.

Sue looked at her and stopped dancing.

"Why are you frowning? What is the matter?" she asked Lily.

"My salary is 13,000$ right?" she asked Sue.

"Yes, that is my salary too." Sue replied.

Lilan showed her, the alert she had gotten and Sue gasped in shock.

"You received 1,300,000?" she asked.

"Yes and I don't know why"

"What do you want to do?"

"I will be heading to HR. This could take a while, do you want to wait for me?" Lilian asked.

"is that even a question, of course I will wait for you." Sue told her. The two of them headed to the HR together.

When they got there, Sue waited outside in the corridor while Lilian headed inside.

She entered the office and saw her supervisor talking to someone.

"Uhm, excuse me sir." she said politely.

They both turned around to look at her and Lilian almost gasped in shock at how handsome the man her supervisor was talking to looked.

He looked like he had walked out from one of those cheesy romance novels she used to read as a teenager. She wondered who he was, since her supervisor addressed him with respect.

"Yes, how may I help you?" her supervisor asked impatiently.

"I just received my payment alert some minutes ago and I noticed there was a mistake." Lilian reported.

"Why? What was the mistake." the supervisor asked.

"My salary is 13,000$ and i got 1,300,000 instead" she said.

Lilan gave him the phone to see for himself.

"What the hell? Who made such a mistake." her supervisor said in shock.

"May I?" the handsome stranger asked the supervisor as he gestured to the phone.

"Here you go sir." the supervisor gave him the phone.

He looked at the phone and glanced at Lilian.

"What is your name?" he asked.

"Lilian Howard."

"Why did you make a complaint? Anyone else would have run away with the money." he asked.

"Well, I am not like that and I think it would be dishonest to run away with the money. Besides, I am pretty sure the company has enough resources to track me down in such a situation."

"That's true." the supervisor said.

"Well let's head to the accounting department." the stranger said.

"Excuse me sir, but who are you?" Lilian couldn't help but ask seeing how he was taking charge of the matter.

"Miss Howard, he is the CEO of this company" the supervisor told her.

"Huh?"

"Miss Howard, I am Alessandro Romano." the stranger introduced himself.

Lilian looked at him amazed. She had often being told about the good looks of the CEO, he and his twin brother Ricciardo ran the company.

Lilian had been busy with Lavender and her work and she couldn't be bothered to investigate the matter further so she had no idea how he really looked like.

Now as she looked at him, she could see that the rumors were really true and he was handsome as everyone said.

"I am pleased to meet you sir." Lilian answered.

"Let's head over to the accounting department." the supervisor said.

They got to the accounting department and the staff in charge of the payment was shocked to discover his mistake and kept apologizing to Alessandro and thanking Lilian.

The matter was resolved, Lilian paid back the extra money and was free to go.

As she was about to go, Alessandro stopped her.

"Miss Howard, thanks again for this."

"I simply did what was best sir." she replied.

"Have a pleasant evening."

"You too sir."

Lilian left the room after this.

"What department does she work with?" Alessandro asked the supervisor.

"The cleaning department sir."

"Have her transferred to me tomorrow." he ordered and walked off.
