Enigma

Lilian was furiously pouring the juice from the little minibar in the kitchen.

She hadn't been this furious in a while, Constanza was right, Rosa was a very annoying person.

She itched to pour the juice all over her smug face.

"Calm down Lily, you have done worse to others, haven't you?" she whispered to herself.

She put the glass of juice on a little tray and went back to the office to give it to Rosa. She knocked on the door lightly and it swung open.

She walked to the table and put the juice in front of Rosa.

"Enjoy." she told her.

"Thanks." Rosa said with a wide smile.

She picked the glass up and took a sip of the juice.

"Not quite the right temperature but I will manage it. I am sure you would get it next time." she told Lilian.

"Thanks for understanding." Lilian replied.

"You may leave." Alessandro told her.

"Thank you sir." Lilian said and turned around to leave.

Alessandro looked at Rosa who was still sipping her juice leisurely.

"Hurry up and finish it, you need to go back to work and I need to concentrate on my work as well." he told her.

Rosa pouted, "Are you chasing me away?" she asked.

"Of course not, it's just that I have a lot of work and with you here, I won't be able to concentrate. Besides, we will see each other at the pack meeting tonight."

"Alright, I will see you later, I guess." Rosa finished her drink quickly and stood up.

"Thanks Rosie" Alessandro said as he looked at her with a fond smile on his face.

Rosa went across the desk and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Bye Bestie." she told him.

"Bye, be careful!"

"I will."

Rosa left his office, on her way out, she stopped at Lilian's desk.

"see you later Lilian." she told her.

"See you." Lilian replied back.

Lilian watched as Rosa left. She sighed, it seemed like she was going to be seeing Rosa a bit more often than she would have preferred. She hoped that she would have the patience to deal with her.

Minutes later, the phone at her desk rang. She picked up the call, it was Alessandro.

"Come to my office." he said and hung up.

Lilian looked at the phone in confusion, did he have to be so abrupt?

She stood up and went to his office, she knocked lightly, the door opened and she entered inside.

"Sit down miss Howard" he told her as soon as she entered.

"Thank you sir." Lilian sat down.

"Now, your duties are as follows;

-You have to resume work early, prepare my coffee and arrange the necessary files and documents.

-You are to accompany me to business meetings

-You are to keep track of my schedule and plan my meetings accordingly.

-Under no circumstances whatsoever are you to reveal anything about me to outsiders.

That's all. Do you understand everything I have just said?" he asked her.

"Yes sir"

"And are you willing to comply with them?"

"Yes sir"

"You may go home now, I will be closing early today, I have a pack meeting to attend to. Giovanni will drive you home and pick you up tomorrow morning."

"There is no need for that sir, I can find my way home and come by myself tomorrow morning." Lilian objected.

"And how are you going to go home with all the shopping bags?" Alessandro asked her.

"I will take a cab."

"Miss Howard please just allow Giovanni to take you home and bring you to work."

"Okay sir, if you insist."

"I very much insist." Alessandro replied.

"OK sir, I will see you tomorrow. Have a pleasant evening sir."

"You too."

Lilian turned around and left the office. Alessandro relaxed in his seat, a curious expression on his face.

Lilian was an enigma. On the surface, she looked calm and peaceful. But he knew that underneath that peaceful veneer was a brewing storm.

He had seen her face back when Rosa was around, although she had looked calm and respectful. His observant eyes had caught the fury and rebelliousness in her eyes.

Alessandro was curious to know about her past and where she came from. Although he could easily get one on his guys to find out everything about her. He decided to be patient and wait for her to tell him herself.

Although Alessandro didn't know it at the moment, this was about to be one of his biggest mistakes.

Lilian took the elevator down, as she came down, she dialed Sue's number.

"Where are you?" she asked.

"I am still working." she replied.

"Oh! Mr Romano closed early and I am leaving now."

"Oh no! I really wanted to hang out with you today." Sue said sadly.

"How about this? When you are done, come over to the house for dinner and we can hang out after. Deal?"

"Deal." Sue replied happily.

"See you later."

"See you later."

Lilian hung up and walked to the garage where Giovanni was waiting with the car.

"Ready to go Lilian?" he asked.

"Yes please." she replied.

He opened the back door for her, instead of entering Lilian opened the front door and entered.

"Uh Lilian, don't you want to sit at the back?" Giovanni asked confused.

"I don't, it feels weird, I would rather sit in the front with you, that's not a problem, is it?" she answered him.

"No it isn't." he said amused, Lilian was a peculiar girl, he thought to himself.

He closed the door and went to the driver's side, he opened the door and entered the car.

He started the car and drove off after taking directions from Lilian.

Soon, they got to Lilian's house, he helped her carry the shopping bags inside.

"I will see you tomorrow morning." he told her.

"See you then." she replied.

"Who was that man?" her aunt asked.

"And did you go shopping?" her uncle added.

"What did you do to your hair?" her aunt added another question.

Lily sighed and went to the cot and carried Lavender. She then sat down and started answering their questions.
