KNOX

That was it.

I watched my nephew—the man I adored most in the world, take the woman I just realized was my mate, as his wife.

It was sorta Ironic, wasn't it?

Sage was now his wife—HIS

Something about that didn't make me feel good even one bit. No matter how much I had held it together then, it hadn't been easy, watching them together.

But what could I do?

There was nothing to be done. Aegon needed a wife, and there, he got one. I heaved another long sigh.

After all, this was my idea from the beginning and I did this because of my love for Aegon.

How could I refuse at the dying minute? How could I even have felt the urge to?

“The newlyweds may now take the dance floor.”

Aegon, with all pleasure. I could see it in his eyes as he took his wife by the hand while she got on her feet. And together, they started dancing—smiles on their faces.

A smile appeared on my face as well.

Inasmuch as I felt bad about this

SAGEThere was nothing new or a different feeling. Even though we shared the same night in the same room and on one bed. I turned to face the other side of the bed this morning, heaving a sigh of relief. Relief that I wasn't embarrassed at the end of the day. Unexpectedly, my mind drifted back to Eleanor. How she had wished for me to be disgraced and how it ended up being her. The thought of it alone brought a smile to my face, and I sat up on the bed, almost laughing at myself and alone. How was she? Crying? Hateful? Who could she even blame for her being unfortunate? Maybe if she had stayed back and let Knox take her, she would end up seeing that Aegon was a handsome man. But why were there rumors that he was ugly? I was still in my thoughts when a hand touched me. I flinched, looking at the other side of the bed where my husband lay. The sound of that was good in my ears, and I put on a smile especially for him. “Good morning. Did you have a good night's rest?” “How c

KNOX“Hello, Wolves,” I stopped in my tracks, organizing myself and walking again. “It is a pleasure to be in the midst of you all again on a morning like this.”“Long Live The Alpha,” they all got on their feet, bowing while I caught up with the last vacant seat. A seat that happened to be facing the woman I didn't want to see. But how could I have avoided this meeting? There was no way I could. Smiling, I looked around the table. “Where is your husband, Sage? Why isn't he here yet?” “Good morning, my Lord,” now was her turn to greet me. “It was said that the Prince left for the doctor's tent when I asked after him from the maid who brought me here.” What? No way. How could the maid have done that?! How many times was I supposed to explain to these people that our curse was meant to be a secret?Looking around the table, a deep sigh ran out of my mouth. “Why did he go to see the doctor? Did he say a word about it to you?” She shook her head, obviously confused. “I wasn't tol

KNOXBefore the end of the next hour, myself and the men were still seated in the dining hall. “Gentlemen,” I started. “There'll be no need for us to proceed to the meeting hall when we can just meet here. Don't you think the same?” No one talked and I continued. “Thank you. For honoring this meeting. It's a good thing to meet with you people once more. However, before we go ahead with what we want to do on this day, I need to speak with you all and it has to do with the curse.” A confused look greased the countenance of some of them, while some simply nodded. “The curse lingers amongst us in this pack, and no one outside this pack knows about it. Not even the family of Sage, the new wife in this Pack.” They nodded. I did the same, adjusting a little on the chair. “We must know that on no condition should this be mentioned when she is present,” I let out. “It's enough that we have to put her through all of these, and I also believe it's best if we don't speak about it.”“She'll

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   Thirteen: Haunting Past

SAGEIn a very dark space, I ran for my life like it was my last moment on the face of the earth. Running faster, and faster than I could ever imagine, my legs stopped when my eyes sighted a safe place. “No—” the word ran out as I struggled to hold myself back from breathing hard. “Come out of your hiding place already!” Someone. A man, at the top of his voice, shouted. “Come out already. You don't deserve to live in case you don't know. Where are you, Silver?!” I could hear his footsteps closer to my spot, and I spent the next moment thinking of something. Anything at all.Anything I could do to run out of this. There was none. Unfortunately for me, the tree branch I held as support all this while, fell to the ground—giving whoever it was that chased after me, a signal of where I was. When he reached for me, my eyes opened. “My goodness—” sitting up, I held my chest. What was that about? Looking around the room, I realized I was safe and my husband was next to me on the be

SAGE“Good morning, Sage. How was your night?” I was still standing when he caught up with a couch in the space, smiling as he looked up at me. “Take a seat. Come on. I'm hoping that you had a good night's rest.” “Yes, my lord,” I sounded, settling on the couch again. “Aella, the maid said you sent for me.” Snapping his fingers, he looked in another direction. “Give me some time to be organized, Sage.” He mouthed, still looking in the other direction. “Get all the maids for me. And be fast about it.” Were his words to a guard who ran to his side at the snap of his fingers. “Yes, my lord,” the guard mouthed and walked away. Alpha Knox, once again, looked in my direction. Silence ruled the room while I tried so hard to ignore his face. It was a hard feat but I tried my best, holding my breath at some point as I waited for the maids to show up. But why? Did something happen? Did I do something? One by one, women in maid's uniforms walked into the space. With smiles on their fac

ELEANOR I hated everything. Especially the fact that I could miss an opportunity as good as this. What the hell happened?!Ever since we got back from The Darkfangs Pack, I had kept to myself, avoiding activities I used to engage in even before the wedding came up. What would they have me do? Pretend everything was alright when it wasn't? I wanted a piece of that man. The handsome Prince. A man I never expected to be that handsome. As a matter of fact, I waited in the hall, looking forward to the very moment an ugly man would walk in. This way, I'd add more to the humiliation I had caused my half-sister. But no, Aegon was not only the Prince of The Darkfangs Pack, he was also handsome. He was handsome! How was that even possible?!Who set me up?! Why would rumors be claiming he was ugly when he wasn't? Sitting up on the bed as I had just woken up from my sleep, I couldn't help but think. This was another day to throw tantrums and avoid everyone in the pack. I want to be the w

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   SIXTEEN: IF WISHES WERE HORSES

ELEANOR Heading downstairs, my thoughts raced as I wondered what it could be that Father wanted. Was I about to be punished? Where were Alistair and Regan? Looking to my right and left, I looked forward, centering my thoughts on the reason I had been called by my parents. In a short while, I caught up with the Pack's living room. The Alpha and Luna were seated on the same couch, moping at me while I wondered what the matter could be. “Good morning, Father. Good morning, Mother,” with a bow, I greeted before walking closer. “Regan said you sent for me. And this is why I have come.” Father gave a nod. He looked at Mother before facing me. “Take a seat, Eleanor—” he urged. “One of your brothers came to speak with me about an hour ago and it has to do with you. He says you've not been eating well since we got back from The Darkfangs Pack. How true is that piece of information?” Didn't he know? Why was I surprised? He loves me more than he does Sage but didn't pay attention to

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   SEVENTEEN: A TEST

SAGEIn the large kitchen, I stood at the center—with Aella who was by my side and waiting for an instruction. Confused, I looked at her. “Am I supposed to cook something special? Or is it anything that comes to mind?” “Yes, Lady Sage.” “Yes, what? Aella.” “Anything at all,” she explained. “I'm here to attend to all of your needs. There's a CC camera installed everywhere in the house so the Alpha and the elders will check to know if it was you who made the meal or your maid. People have made this mistake a lot in the past and they end up getting punished.” I heaved a sigh. I knew that already. But what I didn't know was what to cook. My family didn't let me go near the kitchen all my life during my stay in the pack with them. How then was I supposed to know how to cook? I moped at the table and then looked around. “What do you think I should cook, Aella? I'm as confused as a mad woman. I don't know what I'm supposed to do.” She walked closer. “Maybe soup,” she sounded, a

SAGE Keenly, I watched him. I was in search of that look. The same one I had expected from Aegon. There was a look on his face. But it wasn't a look of disappointment. It was the kind that expressed shock and pity. “I'm so sorry.” What for?I looked away. “I'm just saying, my lord.”“I know,” he let out, walking briefly before stopping in his tracks. “But you shouldn't have a thing to worry about. The last time I checked, you're family more than she is and as a matter of fact, we would protect the both of you. From each other if possible. Do you understand?”He was the one who wasn't understanding. Was it so hard to understand that my sister—that bitch who I have no relationship whatsoever with, is a snake? How hard was it? I looked at the poor Alpha, recalling that the Prince had talked about him taking drugs a certain time when I was newly brought into the Pack. “Are you sick, my lord?” Shock on his countenance, he looked at me. “How do you mean? Do I look sick to you, Sag

KNOXNo one needed to tell me that the wife of my nephew was angry that I would do something like that. I, myself, wasn't expecting such a thing from myself but what would she have me do? Chase the woman away or rather, make it obvious that we wanted her out of the pack. During the day, I discussed with Doctor Logan who tried his best to convince me to get married. “Did my nephew talk you into talking to me about marriage, Logan? How many more times before you finally give up?” Sipping from the bottle, I looked at him again. “No amount of advice will make me change my mind. As a matter of fact, not even the Moon Goddess will make me change my mind. Don't you understand?” “My lord—”“No, Logan—” cutting him short, I got on my feet. “Why not tell me what the test results say? I need to know if my death is soon. This way, I shall lecture the young man on what to do when I am gone.”“The test results says the same thing.” I turned to face him, shutting my closet door. “No differenc

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   THIRTY-EIGHT: AGAINST HER EXPECTATIONS

SAGE Today was one of those days when it was mandatory that the royal family gather at the dining hall to eat. Waking up with a slight headache, I questioned myself on why I didn't sleep early the previous night. My gaze now drifted to the door when a hand knocked on it. That was Aella—I didn't need to ask. “Come on in already—” I cried. “The door is opened.” In a moment, it was pushed open. “Good morning, my Lady,” with a bow, she greeted. “It is a pleasant surprise to see your door open for the first time while you sleep. Is there a reason for that?”“Get me off this bed and don't ask silly questions.”“Oh, my lady,” she walked closer. “I should have known you forgot to do the locking and that's why your door is unlocked. What shall I do for you?” “Aella!” Holding back my laughter, I let her help me up. “They'll be waiting at the dining hall by now in case you've forgotten. Why not concentrate on dressing me up rather than gossiping about why I forgot to lock my door?” “Apol

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   THIRTY-SEVEN: CONFESSION

SAGEThat wasn't so shocking to hear. What did I expect from a man as strong as Knox and the rest of his members? Of course, they have to have ended lives long before my existence in the pack—and maybe the world in general. Now was my turn to speak, with a nod that I gave, I sat up, and fed Aegon with a spoonful of the meal. “I have heard more than enough tales about the Alpha, and I'm certain that this strength applies to you.” He chuckled. “What?” I fed him again. “Nothing, my lady. It's just—” He trailed off, taking it up once more. “I am a strong man. In the history and existence of this pack, I don't think that there's been a weak man. I am a strong man but my uncle doesn't want me involved in things like that. According to him, I may resume fighting as soon as I mount his throne as the next Alpha.” That was a relief. From the onset of my life, I had wanted a strong man for my husband, but I didn't want him with so much blood on his hands and that's just what I discovered

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   THIRTY-SIX: STAY WITH ME

SAGEI looked at Aella who looked at me. The spoon hung in her hand, causing me to almost laugh but nothing was funny. Not when she told me about the rules of this pack. “Hi, Aegon—”“What is going on here?” Aegon, who was more interested in what was happening, walked into the room with the same questioning gaze plastered on his countenance. “Don't you know the rules any longer, Aella?” “I do,” she dropped the spoon. “My lady insisted that I join her, so I did. I'm sorry, Prince Aegon.” Aegon looked at me. “Did you ask her to join you?”“Yes,” I dropped my spoon as well. “She's not going to be here with me if I don't ask her to. And she tried refusing but I didn't let it happen because I needed company also. I'm sorry, Prince Aegon.” He nodded. “You can continue your eating.”Aella shook her head. “Go on, Aella. I have already asked you.” She took a seat again, of course after bowing to the Prince and maybe me. “Thank you.” The new week came in a hurry. With a smile on my c

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   THIRTY-FIVE: CONFRONTATION

SAGE She burst out laughing, leaving me wondering what exactly I said that was funny. Or was this her coping mechanism? I moped at Eleanor, not for a moment taking my gaze off her. “You have yet to answer my question.” “What question?” She walked closer. Prideful. “Are you here to ask if it's the same man who rejected me right in front of Father I have come to take? Or do you have something else to ask me?” Now stopping right in my face. No fear. No respect. Did this bitch forget that this Pack was now my home and I had a say on whether she would stay or not? Moping at a small girl who I happened to be taller than, I couldn't help, but smile. “Sister—” “Yes!” Now I cut her short, my tone increasing. “I'm asking you that same question. What did you say you have come to take? A man you own, is it not? And now that I ask if it's the same man who rejected you right in the presence of your family and my new family, why do you choose not to answer? Or have you go

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS    THIRTY-FOUR: A LITTLE CONFRONTATION

SAGEIt was another weekend—a day to finally walk out of my chamber whether or not I wanted to. Moping at my figure in the royal mirror, I wondered if it was right to refuse to leave my chamber on this day. Maybe I could tell Aella about how tired I was or maybe sick. No, I shook my head in refusal. Why should I be scared? For all that I knew, it was Eleanor who should be scared of me and not the other way around. Leaving the mirror area completely, I walked back to the bed where I took a seat. Moments later, I was lying on it with thoughts of what the time could be and this was the point where I got to start preparing. Why was Aella not here yet? Standing on my feet, I reached the closet where I took out my towel. In moments, I was reaching for the bathroom. I didn't want to be bathed by the lady so it was better I did it myself before she would make it to the chamber with arguments of how it's her duty and not mine. After a long while in the bathroom, I walked out with water

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   THIRTY-THREE: ANGER

ELEANOR I watched him leave my side, his large back swinging from side to side while Anger had become my name. How could he refuse me a simple favor? Why was this man being difficult? Again, the wolves made a noise and cheered their Alpha when he reached the spot. The Alpha himself smiled, waving back at them, and for once, looked in my direction before finally leaving my sight. Fuck him! After being all nice to him, I get this in return. How could he do a thing like this to me? I was still moping at him even though he wasn't there, clearly angry that he would even walk out on me. Where was such a thing done? When I realized I was frowning too much, I changed it to a smile and picked up the large bowl from the ground where it was. Just then, a male wolf made to pass by me but I stopped him before he would get to wherever it was he was headed to. “Can I have a word with you?” He bowed. “Yes, my lady. What can I do for you?” I then looked around me. “Where can I keep this bowl o

ELEANOR Unable to stay back in my room all day, I took my bath and got ready to leave this space. With a smile on my countenance and pride in my heart, I reached the entrance of the room. It was late in the evening and the last time I checked, this was the time I took a walk back in The Moonclaw Pack—alone or with one of my brothers. Smiling, I waved at anybody I could. “Good evening, Lady Eleanor—” many maids referred to me this way and I loved it. For all that I knew and cared about, I was going to keep it this way for a long time and it'll be none other way—than staying back in this Pack for as long as I could. Catching up with the Pack's largest living room—the one connecting the living room and the outer part of the Pack, I stopped to admire the settings. There were just so many places I hadn't been to since I came into this pack. How many more haven't I seen yet? Catching up with the entrance, I turned around to look at the space, changing my mind and walking out final
