SAGE

“Good morning, Sage. How was your night?”

I was still standing when he caught up with a couch in the space, smiling as he looked up at me. “Take a seat. Come on. I'm hoping that you had a good night's rest.”

“Yes, my lord,” I sounded, settling on the couch again. “Aella, the maid said you sent for me.”

Snapping his fingers, he looked in another direction. “Give me some time to be organized, Sage.” He mouthed, still looking in the other direction. “Get all the maids for me. And be fast about it.” Were his words to a guard who ran to his side at the snap of his fingers.

“Yes, my lord,” the guard mouthed and walked away.

Alpha Knox, once again, looked in my direction.

Silence ruled the room while I tried so hard to ignore his face. It was a hard feat but I tried my best, holding my breath at some point as I waited for the maids to show up.

But why?

Did something happen?

Did I do something?

One by one, women in maid's uniforms walked into the space. With smiles on their fac

ELEANOR I hated everything. Especially the fact that I could miss an opportunity as good as this. What the hell happened?!Ever since we got back from The Darkfangs Pack, I had kept to myself, avoiding activities I used to engage in even before the wedding came up. What would they have me do? Pretend everything was alright when it wasn't? I wanted a piece of that man. The handsome Prince. A man I never expected to be that handsome. As a matter of fact, I waited in the hall, looking forward to the very moment an ugly man would walk in. This way, I'd add more to the humiliation I had caused my half-sister. But no, Aegon was not only the Prince of The Darkfangs Pack, he was also handsome. He was handsome! How was that even possible?!Who set me up?! Why would rumors be claiming he was ugly when he wasn't? Sitting up on the bed as I had just woken up from my sleep, I couldn't help but think. This was another day to throw tantrums and avoid everyone in the pack. I want to be the w

ELEANOR Heading downstairs, my thoughts raced as I wondered what it could be that Father wanted. Was I about to be punished? Where were Alistair and Regan? Looking to my right and left, I looked forward, centering my thoughts on the reason I had been called by my parents. In a short while, I caught up with the Pack's living room. The Alpha and Luna were seated on the same couch, moping at me while I wondered what the matter could be. “Good morning, Father. Good morning, Mother,” with a bow, I greeted before walking closer. “Regan said you sent for me. And this is why I have come.” Father gave a nod. He looked at Mother before facing me. “Take a seat, Eleanor—” he urged. “One of your brothers came to speak with me about an hour ago and it has to do with you. He says you've not been eating well since we got back from The Darkfangs Pack. How true is that piece of information?” Didn't he know? Why was I surprised? He loves me more than he does Sage but didn't pay attention to

SAGEIn the large kitchen, I stood at the center—with Aella who was by my side and waiting for an instruction. Confused, I looked at her. “Am I supposed to cook something special? Or is it anything that comes to mind?” “Yes, Lady Sage.” “Yes, what? Aella.” “Anything at all,” she explained. “I'm here to attend to all of your needs. There's a CC camera installed everywhere in the house so the Alpha and the elders will check to know if it was you who made the meal or your maid. People have made this mistake a lot in the past and they end up getting punished.” I heaved a sigh. I knew that already. But what I didn't know was what to cook. My family didn't let me go near the kitchen all my life during my stay in the pack with them. How then was I supposed to know how to cook? I moped at the table and then looked around. “What do you think I should cook, Aella? I'm as confused as a mad woman. I don't know what I'm supposed to do.” She walked closer. “Maybe soup,” she sounded, a

KNOXI wasn't expecting that. “This is—” Looking up from the table where myself and some other men, including Aegon, were seated, I nodded. “Lady Sage, this is the best of all yams I've ever tasted. How did you come up with this recipe?” The look on her face went from worse to better. It looked like she was relieved to hear me say that. “I—” mouthing, she looked at the rest of the royals seated with me. They were all nodding, giving praises of her meal. “Thank you.”“You have nothing at all to worry about,” I assured. “This is more than enough proof that you'll take care of the Prince. You have done more than a good job if you ask me. Well done, Lady Sage.”Saying this, I looked across the table. “Does anyone of you have issues with the meal? You may speak to the woman already. ‘Cause I am done with speaking.” “How can we have something to say, my lord?” The man sitting right next to me asked. “If we must have something to say, then it'll be nothing more or less than the fact t

KNOX Initially, I was uninterested in what he had to say. For all that I knew, I no longer had a business with him until there was an issue regarding his daughter. “What is it about?” Again, I asked when silence ruled our dialogue. Didn't he say he had something to say, or did I not hear him correctly? “Alpha Arden. Are you there?” “Y—yes, Knox. I am here. I wanted us to talk but as you know, meetings like this cannot be held over the phone. We need to sit down and talk about it.”A sigh ran out of my mouth. A meeting like this was something I was avoiding. How could he want us to see him again? And there was no way I would let him come to my pack without organizing the wolves so he didn't suspect the curse. What was I supposed to do? “Are you there—?”“Yes, Alpha Arden,” I let out. “You should come over, then. I am currently unwell and cannot drive all day to come over to your Pack. I believe you should make it to this pack if it's that urgent or don't you think so?” “I kno

SAGE It was another night. Another night to share the room with my husband. A man who lay next to me on the large bed. My eyes were opened and sleep was far from me, hence my reason for sitting up. Aegon shifted a little, facing the other side of the bed. It was what I wanted. A moment to myself, but this wasn't enough. Standing on my feet, I snatched the towel from the closet and rushed to the bathroom for a shower. It was late at night and at the same time, I didn't mind. Not when I needed this to calm my nerves in the first instance. Soon enough, I relaxed in the tub, changing my mind as I chose to use the shower instead. After a long while in the bathroom, I felt better. But not in the way I wanted to feel. For some time, I moped at my husband who didn't move but lay like a log of wood on the bed. Now that I thought about it, I couldn't help but wonder what the issue with him could be. And why he doesn't seem to notice when I made a move on the bed. For all that I knew a

Was I really thinking when there was a million and one question I had to ask? Especially when they were very obvious. Once more, I adjusted on the couch. “I wanted to know what my family members are coming here to do,” I let out. “I know I have no rights, but I am just worried and would love to know. Nothing more, my lord.” He heaved a sigh. It looked like a sigh of relief. Why was that? Did I ask the wrong question? Looking up to meet his gaze, I could see him smiling this time. “Is everything okay, my lord?” “Yes, Sage. You have nothing at all to worry about.” He assured me with a nod. “I just thought—nevermind. I have no idea what your Father is coming here to do. I must be honest with you. At some point, I believed you communicated with them about an issue or two you may be going through ov

ELEANOR I was taking a nap this afternoon when a hand knocked on the door of my room. “Eleanor!” One of my brothers shouted, startling me as I forced myself to sit up. “What are you doing at this time of the day?” He knocked again and I sat up, looking around the room before meeting my own gaze. At this point and against my wish, I was forced to stand on my feet and head towards the door. “What is it?”He walked in. As usual, Alistair didn't know what it meant to leave me to my privacy but I didn't mind. Not today. Not when it looked like he had a reason to be in my chamber. “What is it, Alistair? Do I owe you?” I asked again, settling into the comfy chair somewhere in the room not so far from the bed. “Of course, you don't,” he mouthed, relaxing on my bed. “I came to let you know that Father wants to see you. But you can't see him like this so you must take a bath or maybe wash your face before leaving this room.” My brow raised. What was he talking about? And what did he me

KNOXIn the comfort of my chamber, I waited for the arrival of my nephew. I hadn't heard from him for two days and this wasn't his fault, but rather myself who had asked the guard to not let anyone in—in the meantime. I was having the rest of my life and from the look of things, I had had more than enough and had become ready to take in visitors—Aegon especially, into my chamber. Snapping my fingers once again, I watched the door to my chamber push open, and the guard at the door walked into the space. “My lord,” he said with a bow. “Is there something I can do for you?” Bowing again, he asked. “Yes—” I nodded, looking around the space before meeting his gaze. “I need to ask. Did you speak to my nephew about coming to see me? I know I asked you to do that a while ago, but I need to be sure that we're on the same page.” He bowed. “Yes, my lord. I have done that.” “Good,” I nodded, thinking of the next errand to send him on. “Would you be kind enough to arrive at the kitchen and l

SAGEEven though I had walked out with no hopes of listening to her any longer, I did not stop thinking for a moment about what she said. There were glints of truth that I could see in her eyes, unlike the other times when she did nothing else but lie. Does that mean she was telling the truth? I stopped in my tracks, shaking my head. Did that mean that I was truly thrown out of the hospital by a woman who should not have let me go in the first place? My legs began to walk again, and I stopped once more in my tracks. Indeed, I found myself in the wild one day, and discovered I was a Silver wolf when most people came for me, and after speaking to Silver for the first time in my love. Was it Mother who sent them after me as soon as she dumped me? Why wasn't I even killed? These and many more questions were running around in my head even when I had started to walk again. I wish that I had come with Aella. Eleanor would not have the chance to say this nonsense to me in the presence

SAGE“When did I become important to you that you'll need to check up on me? I don't rate you. You don't rate me. Why then do you pretend to care about me?” “Oh, you know that I don't rate you,” she scoffed. “I only wanted to talk to you about something. I cannot recall the last time we engaged in a real conversation and that's all I'm trying to do right now. I know you want it.”Such a pathetic human. What was she thinking? “I need to take a tray of food from the kitchen, Eleanor. Gone are the days when you thought I had your time. Now, I don't, in case it's very hard for you to see.” Turning around once more, I walked away. She sounded like she had something important to talk about. But there was me who didn't have any interest in it. Walking to the door of the kitchen in a short while, I peeped into the space before walking in. Everyone who did one or two things stopped. “My lady,” as if it was planned, they all echoed. “Where is your maid? You shouldn't be here for any rea

Not for a fleeting moment did I expect that, which caused me to look up so that I could see his face and be certain that this wasn't a set-up. “Aegon,” looking away, I looked at him once more. “Did I hear you correctly?” Smiling to cover up what I could feel inside of me, I asked again. “What did you say, my lord?” He adjusted on the bed once more, a worried look clouding his expression. “Forgive me, my lady. But don't you think we should make babies? Did you think that you would stay away from me for the rest of your life in this room?” “No, I didn't think that,” it was more of a genuine smile than a fake one. “You know fully well how willing I am to carry your child, or don't you? The truth remains that I wasn't expecting you to ask for it too soon.” He nodded. Standing on his feet also. “I understand and I am sorry if it came out too soon. SAGE Keenly, I watched him. I was in search of that look. The same one I had expected from Aegon. There was a look on his face. But it wasn't a look of disappointment. It was the kind that expressed shock and pity. “I'm so sorry.” What for?I looked away. “I'm just saying, my lord.”“I know,” he let out, walking briefly before stopping in his tracks. “But you shouldn't have a thing to worry about. The last time I checked, you're family more than she is and as a matter of fact, we would protect the both of you. From each other if possible. Do you understand?”He was the one who wasn't understanding. Was it so hard to understand that my sister—that bitch who I have no relationship whatsoever with, is a snake? How hard was it? I looked at the poor Alpha, recalling that the Prince had talked about him taking drugs a certain time when I was newly brought into the Pack. “Are you sick, my lord?” Shock on his countenance, he looked at me. “How do you mean? KNOXNo one needed to tell me that the wife of my nephew was angry that I would do something like that. I, myself, wasn't expecting such a thing from myself but what would she have me do? Chase the woman away or rather, make it obvious that we wanted her out of the pack. During the day, I discussed with Doctor Logan who tried his best to convince me to get married. “Did my nephew talk you into talking to me about marriage, Logan? How many more times before you finally give up?” Sipping from the bottle, I looked at him again. “No amount of advice will make me change my mind. As a matter of fact, not even the Moon Goddess will make me change my mind. Don't you understand?” “My lord—”“No, Logan—” cutting him short, I got on my feet. “Why not tell me what the test results say? I need to know if my death is soon. This way, I shall lecture the young man on what to do when I am gone.”“The test results says the same thing.” I turned to face him, shutting my closet door. “No differenc

SAGE Today was one of those days when it was mandatory that the royal family gather at the dining hall to eat. Waking up with a slight headache, I questioned myself on why I didn't sleep early the previous night. My gaze now drifted to the door when a hand knocked on it. That was Aella—I didn't need to ask. “Come on in already—” I cried. “The door is opened.” In a moment, it was pushed open. “Good morning, my Lady,” with a bow, she greeted. “It is a pleasant surprise to see your door open for the first time while you sleep. Is there a reason for that?”“Get me off this bed and don't ask silly questions.”“Oh, my lady,” she walked closer. “I should have known you forgot to do the locking and that's why your door is unlocked. What shall I do for you?” “Aella!” Holding back my laughter, I let her help me up. “They'll be waiting at the dining hall by now in case you've forgotten. Why not concentrate on dressing me up rather than gossiping about why I forgot to lock my door?” “Apol

SAGEThat wasn't so shocking to hear. What did I expect from a man as strong as Knox and the rest of his members? Of course, they have to have ended lives long before my existence in the pack—and maybe the world in general. Now was my turn to speak, with a nod that I gave, I sat up, and fed Aegon with a spoonful of the meal. “I have heard more than enough tales about the Alpha, and I'm certain that this strength applies to you.” He chuckled. “What?” I fed him again. “Nothing, my lady. It's just—” He trailed off, taking it up once more. “I am a strong man. In the history and existence of this pack, I don't think that there's been a weak man. I am a strong man but my uncle doesn't want me involved in things like that. According to him, I may resume fighting as soon as I mount his throne as the next Alpha.” That was a relief. From the onset of my life, I had wanted a strong man for my husband, but I didn't want him with so much blood on his hands and that's just what I discovered

I'm sorry, Prince Aegon.” Aegon looked at me. “Did you ask her to join you?”“Yes,” I dropped my spoon as well. “She's not going to be here with me if I don't ask her to. And she tried refusing but I didn't let it happen because I needed company also. I'm sorry, Prince Aegon.” He nodded. “You can continue your eating.”Aella shook her head. “Go on, Aella. I have already asked you.” She took a seat again, of course after bowing to the Prince and maybe me. “Thank you.” The new week came in a hurry. With a smile on my c
