SAGE

Such an attentive man.

Now that he talked to me in a way I wished to be spoken to, I felt more relaxed, smiling also while I thought about what was there that I needed answers to.

Was I really thinking when there was a million and one question I had to ask?

Especially when they were very obvious.

Once more, I adjusted on the couch.

“I wanted to know what my family members are coming here to do,” I let out. “I know I have no rights, but I am just worried and would love to know. Nothing more, my lord.”

He heaved a sigh.

It looked like a sigh of relief. Why was that? Did I ask the wrong question? Looking up to meet his gaze, I could see him smiling this time. “Is everything okay, my lord?”

“Yes, Sage. You have nothing at all to worry about.” He assured me with a nod.

“I just thought—nevermind. I have no idea what your Father is coming here to do. I must be honest with you. At some point, I believed you communicated with them about an issue or two you may be going through ov

ELEANOR I was taking a nap this afternoon when a hand knocked on the door of my room. “Eleanor!” One of my brothers shouted, startling me as I forced myself to sit up. “What are you doing at this time of the day?” He knocked again and I sat up, looking around the room before meeting my own gaze. At this point and against my wish, I was forced to stand on my feet and head towards the door. “What is it?”He walked in. As usual, Alistair didn't know what it meant to leave me to my privacy but I didn't mind. Not today. Not when it looked like he had a reason to be in my chamber. “What is it, Alistair? Do I owe you?” I asked again, settling into the comfy chair somewhere in the room not so far from the bed. “Of course, you don't,” he mouthed, relaxing on my bed. “I came to let you know that Father wants to see you. But you can't see him like this so you must take a bath or maybe wash your face before leaving this room.” My brow raised. What was he talking about? And what did he me

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   TWENTY-THREE: PREDICTIONS, AND REALITY

SAGEIt was the weekend in The Darkfangs Pack. Aella had come to wake me up this morning. Something unusual of her to do. “What?” Holding back my anger, I jumped out of bed. “Is everything okay with you this morning? And where is Aegon?” I turned back to look at the bed to see he was gone. Nowhere to be found. How much longer was I supposed to live with this? Then, it dawned on me. I moved into my room just last night. No one asked me to, but I chose to on my own. Maybe because I wanted some time to myself and nothing more. “Now that you recall, shall we bathe you?” Snapping out of my thoughts, I looked at the maid. “Yes, but why? Isn't it too early for this?” “No,” she shook her head. “It's Saturday morning, Lady Sage. This is the day when many of us would gather in the compound and engage in activities. On most occasions, the Alpha will be there to work with us. So you need to bathe.” The sound of the Alpha brought chills to my body. A smile even came alive on my coun

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   TWENTY-FOUR: EXCHANGE REQUEST

KNOX“My lord. They're here.” Who are they? “I have no idea what you speak about, Wolf. Who is here?” The man bowed again. “The family of Prince Aegon's wife. The Alpha came along with another lady. Alongside some men from his Pack. I believe them to be guards.” Then it hit me. How could I forget?!And to think that the Wolves were out of their rooms, doing tasks as usual. How did I forget? A sigh ran out of my mouth while I looked up to meet the guard's gaze. “Where are they?”“In the Pack's meeting hall,” he bowed. “They were led there by a maid since it's the usual place you meet with strangers. Especially because of—”“Shut up. I know.”I was still in my thoughts when a hand knocked on the door. Looking up, I didn't need to be told that it was Aegon. No one else knocked like him in the whole of the Pack. “Alpha Knox,” I could now hear him call. “I need to speak with you and this is pretty urgent.” “You may leave—” I said to the guard. “Come on in, Aegon. I'm available for

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   TWENTY-FIVE: REJECTION

KNOXI could not believe my ears. Not for a moment. All I could do was gaze at Alpha Arden. What he said sounded like nonsense to me, and I was more than ready to refuse his offer. “Did you hear me, Alpha Knox?” He called, smiling as he continued to eat. “We have come to take our daughter and hand Eleanor to you instead. What do you think of that?” At least he asked. I looked up, smiling. “Well, I think that's an impossible request you have there, Alpha Arden. It's very impossible to give back a woman we have already taken. I'm sure you know that but still came ahead to try your luck. And at the same time, I'm more than sorry to disappoint you.” “I'm afraid this is for your good, Alpha Knox,” I could now see the disappointment on his countenance. Not just his, but that of his daughter as well. “We have come for a good cause and not the wrong one.” What did he mean? Was there something about Sage I needed to know? I looked at his other daughter who was waiting for me to speak

KNOXWe sat there, waiting for his arrival. At this point, I had run out of patience but I had to wait. Just wait for him to get here. And it seemed like it. When the hall gate opened, I sat up on my chair, more than ready to address the matter and dismiss these people. “My lord!” From a distance, he hailed. “Forgive me if I am late for this meeting.”“I was taking a bath when the guard came to call me. Good day, my lord.” Stopping in his tracks, he looked at our guests and then myself again. “I—”“Come on, Aegon,” I called. “You should take a seat. We might have something to talk about. Our guests asked for this and that is why you have been called.” He started walking once again, catching up with a seat not so far from me. I heaved a sigh, knowing fully well what was about to happen. I didn't need to ask before knowing he would reject the offer, especially when he'd said to me so many times that he loved the woman he was with. Why would he change his mind suddenly? How possibl

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   TWENTY-SEVEN: One Plot

ELEANOR Disappointment ran through my veins like blood. Anger could be seen on my countenance as well and one thing I wanted to do was rip off the hearts of those men. Why did they at some point think that they could make a mockery of us? Especially the Alpha who had it clearly written on his countenance like a birthmark. I settled down on the bed in the large room assigned to me. A sigh ran out of my mouth—more like a sigh of relief. This was the time for me to come up with something to do in order to be Aegon's wife. Did you see how he spoke to me back in that hall? None other way than the gentleman that he was. Instead of the usual anger that was plastered on my countenance, I had a smile on it instead. Aegon was such a handsome man. More than I would ever imagine. Back to the day of his wedding to that bitch I call a sister, he didn't look as fine as he currently did. Did that mean—No, I didn't want to think about the possibility. It should be the least of my busines

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   TWENTY-EIGHT: WORKS FOR ME

ELEANOR “I'll be right back,” the maid, who had fallen for the prank, turned around, forgetting to bow, and then rushed out in seconds, hitting the door hard. A smile came on my face. But it wasn't done yet. There was no guarantee that I would stay here and not leave. What was she going to do? What else besides passing the message to my Father who was waiting for me? Where was she going?!What was Father going to do?Sitting up on the bed, I heaved a sigh. I was tired of pretending already but what would these people have me do? Laying back, I looked at the door, pretending as I shook underneath the duvet once again. In a short while, the door opened. Instead of my Father just as I expected, the maid was running back into the room. “Alpha Arden will be here in a short while. But I wanted to know if there's something I can help you with while he is at it.” I opened my eyes slowly. “Wh—what did he say?” She shook her head. “He didn't say anything. But he is as shocked as I am

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   TWENTY-NINE: STAY

ELEANOR It was sweet. More than just sweet, in fact. All day, I stayed back in the massive room I was given, looking around and lying on the large bed. There was more than enough time on my watch, according to what I had seen. Daily, the Pack's doctor, Doctor Logan walked in and out of the room to check in on me and see how far the vitamins worked. Vitamins I seldom took. Again, there was a knock on the door today. As usual. It just depended on who exactly. “Who is it?” I looked at the door, gaining composure on the bed. “Who?” Snapping my fingers, I watched the door open and the guard who the Alpha had kept there for me, walking in with his head bowing. “My lady,” he called. “Doctor Logan is here to check in on you.” He explained while I nodded. “Shall I let him in?” “Yes, please. Let him in.” The door shut when he walked out. The next time it opened, it was the tall, handsome man in disguise of a doctor walking into the chamber. “Lady Eleanor!” He chattered. “A very g

SAGEYet, another week. Another day, even. This was the day when we were to be gathered again at the dining hall and I didn't want to be there. Aella, as usual, barged into the room. “Good morning, my Lady,” smiling, she reached the bedside. “It is time.” Mouthing, she looked at Aegon who rolled over to the other side of the bed. “Good morning, Prince Aegon. Is there something I can do for you?” The man shook his head. “Nothing at all, young lady. As a matter of fact, you don't owe me but the woman who I am married to.” He reached my side and kissed me, letting go and then looking at Aella, the maid, who bowed. “I'll take a bath first, then be out before my lady. She needs some time to come awake, or can you not see that?” “Yes, my lord.” Relaxing some more on the bed, I knew this chamber was better than the other one. At least, I don't get to bathe now unlike it used to be in that chamber. “Did you have a good night, Aella?” There was something different. Something I could

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   FORTY-FIVE: UNEXPECTED ACCEPTANCE

ELEANOR For the first time in a very long time, the master idea I was waiting for popped into my head. Smiling, I paced the grounds of the chamber I owned in this pack, thinking of the right way to go about it. Then, another idea on how exactly to go about it came rushing into my head just as I wanted it. Hours later, I had come back from a hospital I had noticed on the night I took a long walk—with the item I needed for the cause of my next mission, right in my hand. But I was certain to hide it at the right spot which was underneath my outfit. What next? I asked myself, taking the item out of its hiding place. My legs led me to the closet and I put it in there for now, waiting for the right time when I would strike. It had to be at night and not during the day just as it was. A knock on the door cut short my thoughts. Looking around the room just to be certain that there's nothing that can implicate me on the surface of the bed and even on the ground, I snapped my fingers—

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   FORTY-FOUR: A MOMENT WITH THE ALPHA

KNOXIn the comfort of my chamber, I waited for the arrival of my nephew. I hadn't heard from him for two days and this wasn't his fault, but rather myself who had asked the guard to not let anyone in—in the meantime. I was having the rest of my life and from the look of things, I had had more than enough and had become ready to take in visitors—Aegon especially, into my chamber. Snapping my fingers once again, I watched the door to my chamber push open, and the guard at the door walked into the space. “My lord,” he said with a bow. “Is there something I can do for you?” Bowing again, he asked. “Yes—” I nodded, looking around the space before meeting his gaze. “I need to ask. Did you speak to my nephew about coming to see me? I know I asked you to do that a while ago, but I need to be sure that we're on the same page.” He bowed. “Yes, my lord. I have done that.” “Good,” I nodded, thinking of the next errand to send him on. “Would you be kind enough to arrive at the kitchen and l

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   FORTY-THREE: FEAR

SAGEEven though I had walked out with no hopes of listening to her any longer, I did not stop thinking for a moment about what she said. There were glints of truth that I could see in her eyes, unlike the other times when she did nothing else but lie. Does that mean she was telling the truth? I stopped in my tracks, shaking my head. Did that mean that I was truly thrown out of the hospital by a woman who should not have let me go in the first place? My legs began to walk again, and I stopped once more in my tracks. Indeed, I found myself in the wild one day, and discovered I was a Silver wolf when most people came for me, and after speaking to Silver for the first time in my love. Was it Mother who sent them after me as soon as she dumped me? Why wasn't I even killed? These and many more questions were running around in my head even when I had started to walk again. I wish that I had come with Aella. Eleanor would not have the chance to say this nonsense to me in the presence

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   FORTY-TWO: TALK MORE

SAGE“When did I become important to you that you'll need to check up on me? I don't rate you. You don't rate me. Why then do you pretend to care about me?” “Oh, you know that I don't rate you,” she scoffed. “I only wanted to talk to you about something. I cannot recall the last time we engaged in a real conversation and that's all I'm trying to do right now. I know you want it.”Such a pathetic human. What was she thinking? “I need to take a tray of food from the kitchen, Eleanor. Gone are the days when you thought I had your time. Now, I don't, in case it's very hard for you to see.” Turning around once more, I walked away. She sounded like she had something important to talk about. But there was me who didn't have any interest in it. Walking to the door of the kitchen in a short while, I peeped into the space before walking in. Everyone who did one or two things stopped. “My lady,” as if it was planned, they all echoed. “Where is your maid? You shouldn't be here for any rea

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   FORTY-ONE: TALK

SAGEOf all the things to hear him say, I didn't expect this. Not for a fleeting moment did I expect that, which caused me to look up so that I could see his face and be certain that this wasn't a set-up. “Aegon,” looking away, I looked at him once more. “Did I hear you correctly?” Smiling to cover up what I could feel inside of me, I asked again. “What did you say, my lord?” He adjusted on the bed once more, a worried look clouding his expression. “Forgive me, my lady. But don't you think we should make babies? Did you think that you would stay away from me for the rest of your life in this room?” “No, I didn't think that,” it was more of a genuine smile than a fake one. “You know fully well how willing I am to carry your child, or don't you? The truth remains that I wasn't expecting you to ask for it too soon.” He nodded. Standing on his feet also. “I understand and I am sorry if it came out too soon. But since we got married, we have yet to do what a husband and wife should d

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   FORTY: TALK TO THE PRINCE

SAGE Keenly, I watched him. I was in search of that look. The same one I had expected from Aegon. There was a look on his face. But it wasn't a look of disappointment. It was the kind that expressed shock and pity. “I'm so sorry.” What for?I looked away. “I'm just saying, my lord.”“I know,” he let out, walking briefly before stopping in his tracks. “But you shouldn't have a thing to worry about. The last time I checked, you're family more than she is and as a matter of fact, we would protect the both of you. From each other if possible. Do you understand?”He was the one who wasn't understanding. Was it so hard to understand that my sister—that bitch who I have no relationship whatsoever with, is a snake? How hard was it? I looked at the poor Alpha, recalling that the Prince had talked about him taking drugs a certain time when I was newly brought into the Pack. “Are you sick, my lord?” Shock on his countenance, he looked at me. “How do you mean? Do I look sick to you, Sag

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   THIRTY-NINE: TALK TO THE ALPHA.

KNOXNo one needed to tell me that the wife of my nephew was angry that I would do something like that. I, myself, wasn't expecting such a thing from myself but what would she have me do? Chase the woman away or rather, make it obvious that we wanted her out of the pack. During the day, I discussed with Doctor Logan who tried his best to convince me to get married. “Did my nephew talk you into talking to me about marriage, Logan? How many more times before you finally give up?” Sipping from the bottle, I looked at him again. “No amount of advice will make me change my mind. As a matter of fact, not even the Moon Goddess will make me change my mind. Don't you understand?” “My lord—”“No, Logan—” cutting him short, I got on my feet. “Why not tell me what the test results say? I need to know if my death is soon. This way, I shall lecture the young man on what to do when I am gone.”“The test results says the same thing.” I turned to face him, shutting my closet door. “No differenc

  • THE SILVER HEAD LUNA; WHEN HER WOLF HOWLS   THIRTY-EIGHT: AGAINST HER EXPECTATIONS

SAGE Today was one of those days when it was mandatory that the royal family gather at the dining hall to eat. Waking up with a slight headache, I questioned myself on why I didn't sleep early the previous night. My gaze now drifted to the door when a hand knocked on it. That was Aella—I didn't need to ask. “Come on in already—” I cried. “The door is opened.” In a moment, it was pushed open. “Good morning, my Lady,” with a bow, she greeted. “It is a pleasant surprise to see your door open for the first time while you sleep. Is there a reason for that?”“Get me off this bed and don't ask silly questions.”“Oh, my lady,” she walked closer. “I should have known you forgot to do the locking and that's why your door is unlocked. What shall I do for you?” “Aella!” Holding back my laughter, I let her help me up. “They'll be waiting at the dining hall by now in case you've forgotten. Why not concentrate on dressing me up rather than gossiping about why I forgot to lock my door?” “Apol
