CHAPTER 12

Ashford turned her around to stare at the sales lady. "We are taking both." He leaned in to whisper in Luna's ear. "Do you want another?"

She shook her head. "I like these two better."

Ashford pulled out a gold coin and set it down for the lady. "Here is the payment."

The woman stared at him with astonishment in her eyes. "The gold can buy everything in my store, I don't have the change for it."

Ashford scoffed. "Then you can have it, I have no silver with me."

Luna had no idea what was used for payment, it was the first time she was out and buying something from the market. She remembered she had always told her father what he should get for her and he would get it. Now she had the chance to buy whatever she wanted.
