Asher and his men entered the pack house just right after dinner. Kihara almost slumped in relief at the sight of him. The next few days in the pack house was filled with meticulous arrangements. Asher tightened the security around the pack house, selecting scouts who would patrol the territories in shifts. Nobody was allowed to go anywhere without a capable escort, especially Kihara. Everyone seemed to be breathing in trepidation, their hearts unsettled and waiting for when trouble will come.It was silent for a while, but the silence did not last.It was near the weekend when it happened. The rain came without warning, sending the pack running back inside for shelter. They gathered by the fireplace. No one knew quite what to say, but the questions in their eyes was clear. “What happened?”No one could answer their questions better than their Alpha, so they all waited, patiently, but the extent of their patience thinned by the second.That night, Asher stood in the middle of his pack members and told them everything; the rogue wolf from the morning Kihara was nearly attacked, and every bit of information he was able to gather from Daryl and the patrol guys.“We’ve contacted the police,” Asher said. “And we hope they will be able to conduct their own investigations and fill the gaps we don’t know. Kihara woke up to an empty bed. This was becoming a normal since she’d been sharing her bed with Asher. He woke up earlier than she did so that he could join morning patrol. The mornings where always so important, Asher had said. If anything had happened in the woods in the cover of night, morning would uncover him. His Alpha nose could pick up the slowest of Scents, and his Alpha eyes could pick up even the tiniest of prints.The first time the rogue had been sighted, it was in the morning. And the second time he had acted, it had also been daylight. Most supernatural predators liked to hunt under the cover of darkness, but this one loved to do it in broad daylight. Kihara had been confused by this and so she’d asked.It was Lady Walter that answered on the table where they had breakfast. She said. “The sun rules the day and the moon rules the night. Kihara and Leila walked back to the pack house near evening. In Leila’s hands, three rabbits were held up by their scruff, dripping of blood were her knives had pierced them, very much dead. Kihara had tried once or twice to shoot a rabbit, but her gun hand still needed much training, and her heart like Leila had pointed out, needed toughening. Kihara’s stomach had held out for most of it, but she could not help feeling queasy. She’d eaten deer meat but she could not bare the thoughts of the rabbits flayed and cooked into rabbit stew.Leila passed the rabbits to the cook like She’d promised then went up to the room she shared with Brody to clean up. Kihara retired to her own room too.She was in the shower when Asher came in. So what do we do now?”“Now that we know who he is, we fish him out.” Asher said. “He’s got to be close by, somewhere in this town, there’s a man called Sebastian Thornton.”Asher gave Victor a look who promptly nodded. “I'm on it.” He said. He grabbed a toast bread from the table, took huge bites until the loaf had disappeared down his throat. “See you later folks. Time to do some hunting.” Then he walked out.The table cleared out briefly after that. Everyone seemed to have something to do, except Kihara. Even Leila had her training with her knives.The training sand wasn’t so occupied, most pack members had started to resume back to their daily works and the kids resumed school. Asher made sure they all took extra precaution and were especially safe. The kids were told to stick together in groups. The wolf dashed straight into the house unimpeded by the half opened doors. Only a few wolves had stayed behind, some to protect the pack house in their absence, some because they were unable to, too sick in the heart, or too old to join. Some of them expressed mild surprise at the Alpha pair coming back so early, but they questioned nothing, only bowing their heads slightly as both wolf and woman dashed up the stairs to the newly decorated Alpha and Luna bedroom. Kihara’s luggage and possessions had been brought up here and arranged meticulously to suit her preference.Asher lowered himself so that Kihara could slide down easily and land softly on the ground. Kihara stood, her muscles and tendons stiff and yet shaky with shock. She heard the sound of bones contorting as they snapped into place and knew that the wolf was shifting. Kihara’s honeymoon lasted three nights. Three good nights of no worries, three nights of forgetting that there was even anything to be worried about. It ended too quickly for her liking, but they needed to get back to their duties, and Kihara needed to start hers. The bodies they found in the woods had been buried properly. In the days Kihara and Asher remained completely indoors, the only time they opened their doors was to receive food, and in their absence, Victor had taken charge. He’d put off alerting human authorities about the bodies in the woods and for good reason. No human police would not believe that the work had been done by a pack of werewolves. It’d be like putting handcuffs on their own wrists and walking to the police station to be locked behind bars, not that any police bar or handcuff could hold a werewolf. Apart from burying the bodies, there were many other issues. The pack had grown hesitant of stepping outside pack house boundaries. Members who had human jobs
