My heart broke seeing Colton in a devasted state. He looked defeated and lost as he sat across me with his cup of tea, his eyes were staring blankly at the plain wall in front of him. His daughter was taken away. I could feel his pain. I went through the same phase when Chase was abducted.

The air in the living room was getting heavier with tension. I couldn't take it anymore so I decided to break it.

"Colton, nothing is going to happen to Mia. Please don't stress yourself or how will you fight them. I know they have an upper hand on us but we can't loose our hopes this easily. We'd find them soon." I tried to divert his mind but all the efforts seemed to go in vein as tears rolled down from his eyes and fell on his lap.

He was crying for his daughter and it forced me to reevaluate my perspective about him as a father. Undoubtedly, he proved himself an ideal father figure for Mia who isn't his blood.

The truth came like a big shock to me when Colton told me. Evanca is a
