Chapter 70: The mate bond

Charlotte’s pov

My eyes landed on Alexa and Clara, what the hell is going on between them?

They both seem really happy, but I guess I should be glad they are getting along.

Alexa can really be hard to get along with since she has a thick skin.

“Is everything alright?” I asked her as we were heading out for a stroll, and she nodded.

“Everything is okay, and I figured out why you wanted to follow Clara around.

I think I will do it for two more days and see what I can find” she said.

I looked at her, I know very well that she didn’t want to do this at all.

But now she seems to eager to be doing it, what changed?

I know for certain that she would find someone like Clara boring.

She once went as far as to say to some girl we met in our many journeys that the girl was vanilla.

Hell, I think she only likes me because we are family, otherwise she wouldn’t even look my way.

I looked at her, she has grown so much ever since we met her.

From the little that we know demons don’t die, they are immortal like vampires.

And also, they can’t be killed, you can only take them back to hell.

Actually, I don’t think Alexa would have hated me anyways,

when we rescued her she didn’t want anyone but me.

Suddenly I am starting to read too much into everything after what Logan told me.

“Okay then, if you are sure that you’ve got this then I am glad” I said, and she nodded.

“I will deal with everything when I am done she will have her wolf back.

You should feel its power Charlotte, even though it is locked away its power is great” she said.

Another thing that she never does is praise someone else even if her life was on the line.

I don’t know what happened, but I like that my little sister is starting to trust someone.

I don’t know Clara much, but Logan trusts her so it’s only fair I do the same.

Plus, she was also willing to trust me even though she didn’t know me that well.

Its also only fair that I do the same, if she was a terrible person then Alexa wouldn’t have taken a liking to her.

I will try to do some reading on the seers.

Logan’s father found a few documents that could tell us a little more” I said, and she nodded and walked off.

Is it me or did she seem a little too excited as she was leaving me and going to Clara?

I went to the Alpha King’s office and found Logan already there waiting for me.

“These are the files I found, I will help you read them” he said, and I nodded.

I know a few information about them, just like everyone there are good seers and bad ones.

The good ones use their visions of the future to help people while the bad use it for their own selfish needs.

Let’s be honest I think there is always someone evil, there are evil witches, evil vampires, werewolves and even humans.

I guess one would go as far as to say that love and hate are always intertwined,

they are always nexus causal relationships that cannot be separated.

But I think everyone is capable of hate, even the people that love the most.

Hell, I think the more you love the more hate you are probably going to feel.

Hate is developed in order to protect the people you love, and there are just people who are just terrible beings no matter what.

I wonder if I was one of them, “here it shows that the seers didn’t help just everyone” I said looking at their files.

“Yes, this is weird, why these certain people?

Aren’t they for the royal family?” Logan asked showing me his file.

“In this file they were helping a beta, and also a gamma.

Aren’t they for the royal family only?

Like their secret weapon of a kind?” I asked and the Alpha King nodded.

“That is what I know, have never heard of them helping betas and gammas” he replied.

“And what were they helping them with?

Were these people searching for something or running away from it?” I asked looking at the file.

That’s when I got to the page of Ryder,

he was also one of them and we knew that already.

That’s when I noticed something,

most of these people had something in common with Ryder.

“I know why, some of them were you reincarnates if not all of them” I said, and Logan looked at me.

“My reincarnates like Ryder was?” he asked, and I nodded.

“May I ask why you think that?

Ryder was a member of the royal family so it makes sense he would be on that list.

It could be a coincidence” the Alpha King said, and I nodded.

“It could be, but my gut feeling is telling me that its not,

there is no way this is just a coincidence.

I just have a hunch about this” I said, and they all closed their files.

“Lets hear this theory” father and son said at the same time.

“I think not just a few of them but all of them were the reincarnates of you Logan.

Okay let me show you” I said and then wrote down the names.

“There are the ones that died without being mated, they never found their mate.

Do you notice something weird about all of them?” I asked and Logan nodded.

“They all died really old; they lived such a long life even for a werewolf.

We usually die In battle and not of old age, but they did” he said, and I nodded.

I wrote down the other names, “now what do you notice on this batch?” I asked them.

“They all died really young, and they were mated” Logan’s father said.

“Exactly, and on this list we have Reene and Ryder.

And do you remember what happened?

With Ryder having visions of seeing Reene?

Maybe he was remembering her from all these other past lives were they met” I explained.

“You are saying that I am just like you?

I wasn’t only reincarnated once but multiple times, and when I didn’t find you then I died alone of old age.

And when I did find you I died young?” he asked me, and I nodded.

“But there is also something really important,

a factor you haven’t considered.

I think this is what Reene figured out before she died and why she linked herself to Ryder’s soul” I said, and they both looked at me.

“What did she figure out?” Logan asked and I took a deep breathe before saying this.

“That the mate bond could be the answer to the curse.

Somehow us mating is the answer to breaking the spell” I said, and he looked at me.

“That would make sense, since considering that both of our souls are cursed” Logan said.

“And the mate bond is the merging of two souls to become one.

But wouldn’t that mean that Logan was present in your past life?

Wouldn’t that be definite proof?” his father asked me, and I nodded.

Now all we need to do is to ask the seer what she knows.

When it comes to generational curses or curses like this they tend to pass on the knowledge.

“Yes, and now we just need to ask the right questions. That’s if she didn’t come here to fight us” I said, and they nodded.

“Do you think she would come here to cause a ruckus?” Logan asked and I shook my head.

“I think people are unpredictable, especially if they were wronged” I answered, and he nodded.

“Lets go to the pack training, everyone will start getting suspicious since we are always in father’s office” Logan said, and I nodded.

“Not to forget that your brother will also act like a dickhead thinking you are trying to snatch his throne” Charlotte said.

“He is still my son you know, even though you are right about him being a dickhead” the Alpha King said.

He reminds me so much of my father,

now I just feel really relieved that we have somehow figured out this whole thing.

What has been weighing on my mind was how Logan and I were connect.

I wondered why would Reene do this to the man she loved.

Why would she tie him to her knowing fully well of her curse?

Now I know that because she knew it was the only way the two of them could ever be free.

Don’t worry Reene and Ryder.

I guarantee you that one day we will be free from this curse.
