Chapter 58: Joke

Logan’s pov

“I am almost done cleansing your aura, just a little bit more. From now on you need to be careful what you eat” I heard Charlotte say to my father.

“I will try my best” my father said which made her glare at him.

“Don’t you dare try but do it, do you know how hard it is cleaning someone’s aura? Don’t try just do it, do you understand?” she asked him.

“Yes ma’am, I heard you loud and clear” my father said making both Alexa and I smile.

“Good, you will be all good.

You are not back to yourself, but I suggest that for now only eat what I make for you.

Its better to be safe than sorry, I will bring you food myself.

Until we lure this person out we can’t compromise your safety” she added, and my father just nodded.

Who knew that the Alpha King would be so obedient.

“Come on Charlotte, go easy on my father will you?” I asked her and her eyes landed on me.

What did I do?

Why is she looking at me like that?

“I am not just talking to him but to all of you. Be really careful, if they came after your father who knows who they will come after next? So, you also be careful” she said which made me smile.

I am seeing a new side to her now, back in the city she pushed us away any chance she got.

I never thought that I would see this side of her before.

The caring side, the side where she obviously let people in and also seems free.

I guess she really didn’t like keeping secrets which is why she didn’t seem free before.

But now that my father knows her story and the truth about our relationship she seems free enough to be herself.

 That is what I want, I want Charlotte to be Charlotte.

I want her to smile without thinking about the world out there that’s full of people hunting her down.

“I will go and prepare some food, just stay here, and don’t move.

You can’t risk having people around you, and even if you do make sure to not get angry” she said leaving the room.

“Why can’t we get angry?” I asked Alexa who was playing a game on her phone the whole time.

“Because your aura might slip through.

Since both your aura are not masked you cant afford to be angry.

We need them to think you are weak for now, and then you can unleash all your wolfy aura” she replied.

“I will go and help her cook” Alexa said getting up and leaving me with just my father.

“If you don’t get that girl to fall in love with you I will kick your ass” my father said making me chuckle.

“All I want now is to protect her and nothing more. If she falls in love with me in the process then good” I said, and he nodded.

“You also have competition so turn up your charm my boy” he said, and I nodded.

Well Sebastian isn’t here so I am not that worried about him right now.

Anyways Charlotte is my mate, there is no way he is going to win her just because they fell in love back in the past.

Hell, even I fell in love with her in the past as well so on that grounds we are sort of even.

I want to protect her first.

I want to make sure that she will be able to roam this world free.

I don’t want her to be hunted down or to die young like she did in her other lives.

Charlotte will live even if I have to die for that to happen.

I will make sure that no matter what she lives.

Charlotte is not someone who Is meant to die in my eyes.

I will protect her, even if it triggers my curse even further and I die young.

In this life I will make sure to remove this curse that plagues her no matter what.

That way even if she doesn’t live a normal life in this life then she will be able to do so in her next life.

“Father I heard that packs used to have their own seers back then. Do we have one?” I asked him and he nodded.

“Yes but she hates us, you see your grandmother wronged her family a long time ago and they moved to another pack” my father said.

“I don’t understand, how is it that they are seers and also werewolves?” I asked him and he smiled.

“How did you even know about that? Not many people your age know about the seers.

Its been more than 40 years since they moved away from our pack” he said.

“It’s just something I stumbled on while doing research. Please answer me” I said, and he nodded.

“You see werewolves that can see the future are werewolves blessed with sight.

They are blessed by the moon goddess and used to be the ones to tell us who will be the next Alpha King” he said and then sighed.

“When I was young the seer of our pack back then came here and told my father about the future she saw. He really didn’t like it all, accused her of treason and killed her.

Her remaining family members were demoted to omegas from their very high status” he said but then stopped.

“You don’t know where they are now?” I asked him and he shook his head.

“The first thing I did when I became Alpha King was look for them. I wanted to somehow rectify my father’s mistakes but found no traces” he said and then opened a drawer.

“Until recently, the recent seer reached out asking for my audience” he said and showed me an envelope with a letter inside.

A letter, who sends a letter in this day and age?

I opened it and understood why they sent a letter.

“She doesn’t want you to tell anyone who she is, and she would like to stay here for a few days? Why is that?” I asked him.

Not that I have anything against her, but she could have everything against us.

Her family was demoted and probably hates my family for what was done to them.

But I also really want to ask her a few questions, maybe she will be able to tell me what happened with Ryder.

Maybe she will be able to tell me how on earth was Ryder able to see Reene in his dreams before he even knew her.

Was their mate bond that strong?

I doubt that’s the answer when you consider that the curse also has a role to play in what happened.

Maybe she could have the answers to all my questions, and we could also work hand in hand to bury all these grudges.

“Tell her to calm, it’s time to make up for what grandfather did.

Let’s see what it is that she wants” I told him, and he nodded.

Soon Alexa bought food for my father, and I went downstairs to eat with everyone.

“Why did she cook? We have people to do that you know” Sasha said the moment she saw my mate wearing an apron.

“Well, I wanted to, Logan likes my cooking. Right honey?” Charlotte said looking at me with a smirk.

I think she has gathered that Sasha likes me and is just trying to rattle her cage a bit.

“I absolutely love it. Come on, let’s eat, sit next to me” I said patting a chair next to me.

She smiled at then sat down as we started eating.

“I really can’t get enough” I said eating and she winked at me.

“Wow this is actually amazing, one would think that you are actually a chef” Dean said.

“It’s not that great” Justice said, and I saw Charlotte smiling.

“Then stop licking your fingers then” she said, and I watched as Justice realized that he really was licking his fingers.

“Urgh I am out of here” Sasha said and got up leaving the room.

My father came downstairs to put away his dishes, Sasha’s father stood up and looked at him straight in the eyes.

“Is something wrong Knight?” my father asked Sasha and Dean’s father who looked around the room.

After looking around the room for some time he looked at my father straight in the eyes again and then smirked.

“Yes, I realized something. You are not fit enough to be Alpha King; I think that it’s about time that Logan replaced you. He is the obvious choice so you should step down” he said to my father.

Charlotte looked at me, I know we were waiting for this but my heart breaks for my father.

He grew up with Mr Knight, hell he is like an uncle to me as well.

And was he doing it all for me?

“Get straight to the point Knight, what is it that you want? Are you challenging me?” my father asked.

Someone tell me this is a horribly written joke, it’s a joke right?
