‘You really gave him a showdown, girl. What are you planning on doing?’
I was in a cafe sharing a plate of chocolate cake with Vera while telling her everything that happened with Kyle, including the threats and his promise to show up with evidence.’
‘I am going to make things harder for him at D.K. Company. I own half of the company, and at the moment, the board of executives is on my side, while Kyle has just a few people on his side. I just need to make him lose some major deals, and maybe that will humble him. What do you think?’
Vera dropped her fork, looking up and saying, ‘I am with you. It’s obvious you gave him a lot of sleepless nights after California, and I am certain he’s still not over you, so if you give him something to worry about, maybe his arrogance will reduce a tad bit.’
I agreed. ‘Exactly. He’s so arrogant and still believes he could just order me around. I wish you were there to see how he was behaving, Vera! I also need security around my kids, in case he snoops around and tries any rubbish.’
‘I will inform my friend at the security firm and see if they can find something for you. Just take everything easy and relax, okay? Or do you want us to hit the spa tomorrow? It’s Saturday, and no one will be going to work, including your parents, so they can watch over your kids.’
‘Hmmm. I think that will be great. It’s been long since we hung out, and I desperately need to massage my bones. These past few weeks have been terrible!’
She nodded, typing into her phone, ‘Great. I just booked us spots at the spa. You will talk with your parents, right?’
I smiled, squeezing her hands a bit'.'Thank you, Vera. You’re the best. So, how’s your new catch?’
Vera had taken care of one of my cousins who came visiting from Luxembourg. They had been cool as birds, and their friendship was growing steadily into a love story. Although it was a long-distance relationship because my cousin Murphy had returned to Luxembourg, he had promised to relocate after he finished a project he was working on.
‘It’s going fine, babe!’ She squealed, taking out her phone. ‘He will be completing his project next week, and then he will be here in the United Kingdom during the weekend. I think Murphy could be the guy I might end up marrying, Tessa. He clicks all my boxes.’
I chuckled, ‘You and that checklist. I thought you thrashed after your last open relationship. Anyway, don’t answer that. I just want you to be happy and maybe finally forgive James. It’s been nine years of indirect malice, girl.’
She shrugged. ‘It’s not nine years, but five years since you relocated here. Also, I thought, I made myself clear that I have forgiven him, but we can’t be chummy, not now and not ever.’
‘But, Vera. He’s my brother, and I know James. He has completely changed from being a jerk and a bully back then. I am sure if you truly forgive him, the weight you carry on his behalf will be over. Trust me when I say that whatever grudge you have for him is unnecessary.’
‘Alright, senior sis. I will have a word with James, and maybe we will finally bury the grudge for good.’
‘Cool, thank you.’ I glanced at my wrist watch. ‘Oh dear, I have a meeting with my creative directors in twenty minutes. I will give you a call, okay?’
She smiled. ‘I will, thank you. Also, I forgot to mention that Ava might receive a divorce paper soon, and you know how she can be, so be prepared. We don’t want any stories at all.’
I nodded, taking the last sip of my champagne. If Ava had tried anything, she was going to receive twice as much of whatever she served. I wasn’t the one who destroyed her marriage, but she did that to herself. It was also obvious that her husband was not interested in keeping the marriage. The typical Kyle was still after kids, and Ava couldn’t give it to him. Meanwhile, he somehow believed his ex-wife belonged to him, and he would do everything to make her return. The chances of Ava ever getting Kyle back were slim.

The twins kept me up all night, and by daybreak, I was set up in the emergency room as the doctors checked them. Mysteriously, their health had gone from bad to worse.
I tried not to get worried, but the longer I waited and saw doctors stroll out of the emergency room, the more I thought about the worst that could happen to them. I stood up, prepared a cup of coffee, and returned to my seat. It was almost an hour when James showed up with my parents. I told them everything, and they reassured me that nothing bad would happen to the kids. The doctor came in after an hour.
I gasped, getting up. ‘What happened to my kids? Why did you take so long?’
The doctor led me to sit down while my parents and James watched us. ‘Those are my parents and brother, James. Anything you have to say, please go ahead.’
He nodded, apparently glad I understood his curious gaze.
‘Good evening, everyone. I will get straight to the point. The kids are alright currently but are dehydrated, Tessa. You know what could have caused that?’
I bit my lips. Of course, I knew. I had changed the kids timetable against Estella’s protest, and now that decision has landed my kids in the hospital.
I skipped the doctor’s question. ‘Are they okay now?’
He smiled a bit and said, "Yes, they are, but you need to change their diet plans.’
A few hours later, I stepped outside while thinking about the kids and their father. Kyle couldn’t know them right now. They were mine alone.
Kyle King‘Go ahead and get all your evidence, but trust me, you will lose the battle.’ Tessa’s words repeated themselves in my head as I walked into Rpbert’s hotel. Throughout the week, I couldn’t stop thinking about our conversation and, most especially, how she spoke to me. I also noticed that she was avoided throughout the meetings with her dad and her mom. Even when I addressed her, she barely answered me. I guess I was still the unforgiven ex-husband.I strolled into the working space and joined my team. Xavier was supervising some of the team members, and I could read his cold expression. My team members were giving him a hard time. I contemplated joining him, but no, it would be better to let him be. This wasn’t his first t
Geneveive Tessa Robert‘Come on, Mum. I thought you said you were going to watch the kids this weekend. It’s not fair. You promised after failing last weekend. I can’t postpone the spa treatment. Vera worked hard for us to get the spot.’ I said, not hiding my displeasure. It was almost time for a spa session, and Mom had called at the dying minute to change her mind. According to her, there was a meeting with friends, and she couldn’t reschedule it because she was the one hosting it.‘I am sorry, dear. What about Estella and James? They can watch over the twins, right?’I sighed. ‘Estella travelled to Nashville three days ago to see her family, and James is out of town. I told you about their weekend plans when you asked the last time, and you agreed to watch over the kids. What do I do now?’‘Take them with you, then. It’s Latte&rsq
Kyle King‘Are you certain she said those things?’ I asked, not believing that Xavier had been right all along.Xavier nodded. ‘Yeah, she said all those things, but she didn’t affirm my logic, though. Even though I believe my logic is right’I replied, ‘It’s okay. I was able to pull some strings from the head hospital where Tessa delivered the babies. They affirm that my name was placed as the father of the kids, but the only way I can truly confirm they are mine is through a DNA test, and you know Tessa would never allow that.’‘No, there’s no need for a DNA test, Kyle. We already have all the confirmation we want, but the main thing now is getting Tessa to for
Geneveive Tessa RobertI was in the middle of writing a proposal letter to a friend of a prospective client when I remembered that today was when Vera was to meet Murphy and his parents at their family house in Bristol. I sent a quick text to her. Don’t be nervous, babe. Just be yourself and remember what I told you.She replied immediately, I am still regretting the outfit I wore, even though Murphy has whispered several times into my ears that I look lovely.I shook my head as I replied. Vera could exaggerate at times. According to the picture you sent, I think you look gorgeous, girl, and Murphy is right about you looking lovely.Alright, his parents are nice and receptive. I will tell you about everything once I return home!I dropped my phone, smiling widely. I had met Murphy’s parents. His father was Dad’s stepbro
Avaline KingI wish I hadn’t listened to Dahila, but now it was too late to start regretting it. Even though she meant well, I still felt that I should have stayed home and waited for Kyle to return home. He wasn’t pleased to see me; I could tell by his attitude towards him. It was strange how Kyle had transformed into a cold human within a few weeks. I remember pointing it out to him, and guess how that ended? He blamed me for everything. Fine, I know I messed up, but it's not new. CEO wives cheated on their husbands occasionally, and their marriages didn’t crash. Why was my own different?I slowly stood up from the bed and walked into the bathroom to cool my brain. An hour later, I was out, but I was still angry, frustrated, and lonely. Kyle had
Geneveive Tessa RobertI stared at the taxi and laughed. Ava did look pathetic and drenched. I wasn’t surprised she had jumped into the taxi without saying anything, even though I could feel the hate in her eyes. It wasn’t my fault Kyle was preparing to dump her; it was her fault. If she was looking for anyone to blame for the downfall of her marriage, she should blame herself.I wondered what she was doing here, though. Probably to see Kyle. From her drenched appearance, it was obvious the guards hadn’t let her in and Kyle wasn’t around. If not, I was certain he wouldn’t be cruel enough to let his wife stay outside and get beaten. Anyway, it was their business. I came to check up on the progress of the third restaurant. According to the project plan, Kyle’s team was supposed to be rounding up this week if there were no more mistakes. Dad was still pissed that he had be
Kyle King‘What’s wrong with you, Ava? Why does everything always have to be about you? I warned you not to come here, but you disobeyed me. I warned you not to come to the hotel, and again, you disobeyed me. You even had the audacity to wear a skimpy dress! Ava, honestly, I am tired, and this has to end.’Ava stood up, clenching her fists. ‘You aren’t going to end anything, Kyle. You love me, and I love you too. I made a mistake, and I apologised for it. Can’t you forgive me?’I shook my head. ‘I have forgiven you, but I am sorry; we can’t be together anymore. I'm in love with someone else.’‘You are in love with Tessa?’ She asked, shock written on
Avaline KingI watched Kyle step out of the Roberts Villa and drive off. I couldn’t believe my eyes. So, he couldn’t wait to get me out of his life before he started visiting the bed of Tessa! He didn’t even have one iota of shame. I slammed my hands on the driver’s seat and yelled at the driver to follow him. I was going to confront him, then report him again to Dahila.I wasn’t going to sign the documents, but my threat? I was going to fulfill it and teach Kyle a lesson he won’t forget. He couldn’t leave me for that ugly woman! Right now, I didn’t care that she was the mother of his kids; all I saw was a potential threat to everything I had worked for in my life, including my marriage.
