Kyle King
The library door closed with a gentle click. I looked up, and Ava crossed the room, smiling slyly and wearing a see-through gown. I noticed she wore nothing. Was she trying to seduce me? I scoffed, tapping my slender fingers as she settled on the couch, facing and spreading her legs. She wore no pants either. If only she knew I wasn’t in for her slutty behaviour tonight, she would have thought twice before she entered here. ‘What do you want, Ava?’ I asked when it was evident she wasn’t going to say anything. She smiled, spreading her legs wider. ‘I just came to say hi since you have been avoiding me for three days.’ I shrugged, taking a lazy sip of my wine. ‘ I have my reasons for avoiding you, and I remember warning you to stay away from my library and room. You’re my mother’s guest and not mine. Now, I ask again: What do you want?’ She closed her legs, standing up. ‘Come on, Kyle. It’s just the two of us here. Mom won’t know you did anything with me. Don’t you miss all of this? I missed you, you know? All those lonely nights in that crazy cell made me do things to my body while thinking about you. ‘ She moved closer, but my deadly glare made her stop. ‘Ava, leave right now, or I will push you myself.’ ‘I have missed you, honestly. I miss us. Come on, Kyle. We can work things out. I will resume the treatments at the clinic, and we can continue our family plans.’ She moved closer. I rose. ‘Avaline, we are over, and I don’t date ex-convicts, especially those who kidnapped little children. Do you know those kids couldn’t sleep for nights because of what you did to them? You are a snake underneath the green grass, and all you do is suck people around you. I am not surprised your dad kicked you out of his business years ago. You almost ruined that man!’ If she felt insulted, she didn’t show it. She moved closer, rubbing my shoulders. ‘I know you want it, Kyle. I saw you analysing my shape and your’ I cut her off, dragging her hands off me. ‘We are over, Avaline. Now, leave immediately. I need to return to work.’ ‘Fine.’ She rolled her eyes. ‘No need to be cold and rough. I will leave now, but I will be back later, baby.’ She closed the door with a quiet bang. I shook my head, returning to the emails I was reading through before she came in, but I couldn’t focus because of a certain she-devil. I wish I hadn’t agreed to the dinner taking place in my house. A day had turned into three days, and soon, a week. Avaline wasn’t behaving like someone who wanted to leave very soon. I had to find a way to get her out of the house before she made me do things I would regret. Tessa. I couldn’t ruin the little chance I had with her. ‘Operation Get Avaline Out Of The House.’ I returned once again to the mail and was able to reply almost twenty minutes before I gave up for the day. I had proposals to write and a presentation to prepare for the Planet O executives. I also needed to fill in Xavier on the latest updates on my life’s activities and the new branch in the U.K.After speaking with Tessa, I felt better about my decision. Somehow, her approval made me feel so good about my plans. I checked the last conversation we had and smiled widely. I might be behaving like a teenage boy who was love struck, but I didn’t care.
Tessa and I were going to be reunited again soon. The door opened halfway. I was about to yell, thinking it was Avaline, but it was the chef. ‘Sir, your dinner is ready. Would you like to join your mom downstairs, or should I bring it up?’ I looked at the library—my safe space since Ava came. I was already getting bored eating here, and I missed watching football on my smart-screen television. I couldn’t run from the devil forever. ‘I will eat with the family. Who else is joining us?’ I asked, even though I knew the answer already. ‘Your mom and your sister, who just came a few minutes ago, ‘Oh, Katherine is here. Did her husband and son come too?’ The chef shook his head. ‘She came alone. I would let your mom know you would be joining her.’ I nodded, taking a long sip of my wine. The last time I saw Katherine was early last year. She had visited to check up on Mom and cry about her fifth attempt at getting pregnant. I had comforted her and mentioned that Seth was okay with one child, but she had been angry. This destroyed our relationship, and I gave up trying to repair it. Now, she was here, and I knew she was going to bring up what happened between us. I shrugged, standing up. Well, I was prepared for the heat. ‘I didn’t know you were planning on opening a new branch in the United Kingdom. Whose idea was it? Xavier?’ Katherine asked, sipping her wine. She hadn’t mentioned the fight, so I guess she had forgiven me. I replied. ‘It was a group’s idea, not just one person. How’s Seth? Is he in the country?’ She shrugged. ‘He is in Iceland. Business as usual. How’s Tessa? Mom told me you guys are together now. I chuckled, looking at Mom. ‘You heard wrong. We aren’t together yet, but very soon. Tessa has been so lovely, and the kids have been accommodating.’ ‘Kids who didn’t acknowledge you as their dad. I don’t know why you won’t file for joint custody if you are so sure they are yours.’ Mom commented, ignoring my cold stare. ‘I don’t want that woman as my daughter-in-law anymore, but Ava.’ I replied, steely. ‘I am not after your approval, Mum. Tessa and I are going to be together soon, and there’s nothing you can do about it. I'm in love with her, and you will respect my decision.’ She scoffed, returning her gaze to the food. ‘Katherine, when is Seth returning?’ They continued chatting while I focused on my food, saying nothing. They knew I was already angry and were doing everything not to increase it. Fair. Tessa was mine, and there was nothing anyone was going to do about it.Geneveive Tessa RobertThe twins' birthday were coming up soon, and my parents were making another grand plan. Bigger and better than last year’s own. Nicholas and Hope had agreed to have a simple party, and they didn’t want any clowns this year. Last year’s own had made Hope cry and Nicholas frightened. Up to date, they still disliked clowns. I almost blamed my parents for their fear, but it wasn't entirely their fault. The clown we hired gave up at the last minute, and James got one of his acquaintances to act as the clown, and the guy failed woefully. He couldn’t even make his balloons look beautiful.I had suggested we do a royalty-themed party since Nicholas always called himself King and Hope believed she was Cinderelli. I had gotten tired of correcting her that the Disney princess’s name was Cinderella, not what she called it, but she refused to listen. She is a stubborn five-year-old
Kyle King‘I told you not to let anyone in except those on the visitor list. Can’t you take simple instructions?’ I asked, staring coldly at Sharon, the new assistant my new-found buddy, Jones at Planet O, had hired. ISharon stammered, ‘I am sorry, sir, but she claimed to be your girlfriend, and before I could stop her, she was in already.’The object of my anger—Ava—laughed, showing her straight, long legs. ‘Calm down, Kyle. She didn’t do anything wrong by allowing me in. I am your girlfriend after all.’I glared darkly at her and refocused my attention on Sharon. ‘Next time she comes in here, you will lose your job. Leave.’She muttered an apology underneath her breath and scrambled out of the office. I would also have a discussion with the security team about Ava. She had been stalking me everywhere since I forced my mom to
Kyle KingI tried to open my eyes, but the pain surging from my head made me close them immediately. There were voices. A familiar one I hadn’t heard in awhile. No. It couldn’t be her. I was probably dreaming, or the blows to my head had done more damage to my brain. I tried to stay awake to listen to the voices, but I slowly lost consciousness.I felt a calm hand on my wrist and slowly opened my eyes. The room was bright, and I squinted to adjust my eyes to the light. There was a face looking expectantly at me. Mom. No, not Mom. She was truly here, and I wasn’t dreaming. Tessa.‘Finally, you decided to wake up. We thought you were enjoying the unconscious stage.’ Tessa said, smiling.I tried to get up, but the pain at my side made me rethink my decision. ‘You’re really here. I thought I was dreaming.’She smiled, holding my hands. ‘Xavier showed up at my office and told me what happened
Geneveive Tessa RobertMy parents had been against me travelling to Nashville with the kids to see Kyle, but I had to stand on my ground and make them understand that I needed to be there in his darkest moments. He was also the father of my children, and it was necessary that I be by his side.Mom had been angry, but she was able to convince Dad to let me go. However, I had to go with one of Dad’s security men. An ex-Navy officer. Mr. Hover. He had an intimidating air around him, and his blank face made people think twice before approaching him. I agreed because he was different with the kids, and they liked him.He also provided extra security because I knew coming to Nashville wasn’t the best idea due to my status, and I added my family’s too.I stared at Kyle as he slept. He looked like an angel, with his dark hair, brown eyes, and chiselled face chiselled in a charming way. I always suspected God took extra time creat
Kyle KingThe cops scribbled in their notes as I retold the incident from the beginning to the end. They stopped me at certain points to get specific details on the environment, and I almost got pissed when they asked about the shadow’s clothing. The attacker had come fast; how could I have gotten what he wore?‘Do you have any suspects on your list? You are the city’s biggest CEO at the moment, and we are certain you would have gotten a lot of threats.’ One of the cops asked. His face reminded me of Homer Simpson.I shook my head. ‘Yeah, the threats are usual things in the business world but are mostly threats. Empty threats. My competitors wouldn’t dare pull a fast one on me because they know it will be bad for them.’
Geneveive Tessa RobertI downed the second glass of red wine and sighed for the fifth time. I should have rejected Xavier’s invitation to the grand opening and just stayed home with the kids. I sent a text to Estella to know if they were asleep. I stared at my screen, waiting for her response, while my mind roamed and focused on a particular curly, dark-haired, gorgeous man. These days, my thoughts are always about him.He must be asleep by now. We had talked earlier today before the cops came. He seemed better, but the doctor hadn’t cleared him to leave until the weekend. He wasn’t pleased. No one would be happy staying in the hospital for one month and one week. He hated not doing anything or being vulnerable. I comforted him, and he relaxed a bit. He couldn’t wait to be out and take over his CEO role. He didn’t say it though, but I could see in his eyes each passing day as Xavier told him eve
Kyle King‘I can't believe I am out of that place finally! I almost lost my mind staying in that room and watching those boring comedy shows.’ I said, entering the house.Dr. Clark had lived up to his promise and cleared me to leave the hospital. I was expected to come in for biweekly check-ups due to the blows to my head. There was no serious damage, according to him, but he was afraid that I might have a relapse. I hoped none of that happened.Xavier grinned. ‘But you had beautiful nurses fighting to take care of you. Too bad, your mom’s scowl pursued them away.’I laughed, remembering a funny drama that happened between my mom and one of the young nurses. Mom had caught her taking a selfie with me while I was asleep. Mom had to warn them off and instruct Dr. Clark to allow only the older nurses. If only she knew they were desperate like the young ones.‘Let’s not talk about that episode, Xavier. The older nurses almost made me regret my gorgeousness. It’s not easy being this handso
Geneveive Tessa RobertKyle’s home reminded me of our memories. Every step I took reminded me of a particular event we shared. I paused in the doorway, looking at the photos on the wall. They were the pictures of the kids, Kyle and me, at the Christmas dinner at my parents home. I didn’t know he collected a copy from James. Nice surprise.I walked into the living room. The interiors had changed, and I noticed a few of Dahila’s touches. She had a thing for plastic and real flowers. I ran my hands through the rich texture of the couches and settled on one. Kyle was still living the CEO’s life. He walked in with the kids. ‘What do you think?’I smiled, glancing at the walls. ‘You need my expertise on your interior choices. Also, I am impressed with the photos.’He let go of the kids and settled near me. ‘I will employ your services soon, and about the photos, I wanted to surprise you. Do you like it?’I nodded, glancing at the kids. They were engrossed with the cartoon show playing on t
