Geneveive Tessa Robert
I stared at the taxi and laughed. Ava did look pathetic and drenched. I wasn’t surprised she had jumped into the taxi without saying anything, even though I could feel the hate in her eyes. It wasn’t my fault Kyle was preparing to dump her; it was her fault. If she was looking for anyone to blame for the downfall of her marriage, she should blame herself.
I wondered what she was doing here, though. Probably to see Kyle. From her drenched appearance, it was obvious the guards hadn’t let her in and Kyle wasn’t around. If not, I was certain he wouldn’t be cruel enough to let his wife stay outside and get beaten. Anyway, it was their business. I came to check up on the progress of the third restaurant. According to the project plan, Kyle’s team was supposed to be rounding up this week if there were no more mistakes. Dad was still pissed that he had been tricked into signing a contract with Kyle King, but when I told him I had acquired part of the company, He decided to take it easy on the team, but not on Kyle. He wasn’t ready to forgive Kyle for the trick.
The elevator opened to the third floor, where the third restaurant was situated. It was the largest restaurant in the hotel, with a secular and classic vibe. Dad’s famous chef, Santiago, was in charge of the kitchen and staff. I noticed the team was almost done with the installation and wiring work. Finally. I took pictures of the place and sent them to Dad. He was currently in the hospital with Mom for her routine checkup.
I spoke to some of the team members and checked in on Santiago. It’s been five years since we last saw each other.
‘Hello, dear old friend. I have missed you and your signature meals!’ I said, smiling widely.
He chuckled, hugging me, ‘Tessa, it’s so good to see you. You didn’t bring my grandchildren?’
‘What grandchildren?’ I laughed. ‘You aren’t so old, Santiago. Anyway, they are with their uncle. Yoau should come over to my place during the weekend and meet them. What do you think?’
He nodded. ‘Of course, I would come. I would also bring some of my new Italian dishes and something for you too.’
I smiled and said, ‘Thank you, Santiago. I will tell James you will be coming around then. He will be so excited. Do you know how many times we wished you could have magically appeared here years ago? I really missed you and your wise words.’
He hugged me again. ‘I missed you too. I am glad everything turned out great for you in the end, though. You’re now one of the biggest CEOs in the country, and you have surpassed your husband in wealth, name, and fame. I hope you are proud of yourself, dear.’
I nodded. ‘Yes, I am. Thank you for everything, including the cooking lessons. The twins know more Italian dishes due to your tutoring.’
He waved it off. ‘That’s what families do. We help one another.’
One of the kitchen staff members called his attention to something, and I used that as my cue to leave. I promised to check up on him before I left the hotel. Truly, family helped one another.
Holding on to that saying, I met up with the hotel management, and we had a brief meeting. The receptionist reported Avaline’s incident, and I promised to check in with Kyle and inform him about the hotel's policies. I also offered an apology and promised Kyle would do the same. I also updated them on the restaurant's progress and assured them that the project would be completed this week.
After the meeting, I took the elevator to the ground-floor restaurant and settled down to enjoy lunch. Thankfully, it was Santiago’s special. I was about to order more Kabsa when I noticed Kyle walking towards me. Ugh. I wondered what he wanted.
The waiter took my order, and I focused on him. ‘What do you want, Kyle?’
He smiled, ‘Can I sit? I am not here to make trouble, I promise.’
‘Fine, you can join me. What’s up with you?’
‘I am good. My team told me you stopped by to check up on the progress. Is there any complaint?’
I shrugged, ‘No, there’s no complain except from testing. When are you running the tests on the tabs? Dad wants the project to be wrapped by this week.’
‘We will be done by tomorrow, and we will run the tests on Saturday. There will be less traffic and enough space to do our thing.’
‘Alright, I will let him know once I get home. What about Xavier? I didn’t see him with the team.’
He replied, ‘He is a bit under the weather, but he will be here tomorrow. Tessa, please, we need to talk.’
I shook my head and replied, ‘Your wife came here and threatened the staff. You know the policies, right? If you aren’t a guest or on an appointment, you can't wait in the reception. Why didn’t you not tell her?’
His smile sunk. ‘I am sorry about Avaline. I don’t know who told her about the hotel, and I definitely didn’t tell her to come here. I will make sure this doesn’t repeat itself.’
‘Please do and talk to her about her choice of clothing. I am sorry to say this, but I saw her a few hours ago, and what she wore wasn’t befitting for a wife. It was more like a hook-up girl's outfit.’
He swallowed, ‘Thank you, Tessa. Can we please talk later? I would like to have an honest conversation with you, please.’
I laughed, ‘Kyle, I thought I made myself clear? I am not interested in having any conversation with you, please.’
‘I know, but I have evidence that proves that I am the father of the twins. Tessa, please, don’t make this hard for us anymore.’
I looked up at him and thought about my mom. ‘Alright, you will have your conversation, but in the presence of my parents. Let them know the kind of man that you are.’
Kyle King‘What’s wrong with you, Ava? Why does everything always have to be about you? I warned you not to come here, but you disobeyed me. I warned you not to come to the hotel, and again, you disobeyed me. You even had the audacity to wear a skimpy dress! Ava, honestly, I am tired, and this has to end.’Ava stood up, clenching her fists. ‘You aren’t going to end anything, Kyle. You love me, and I love you too. I made a mistake, and I apologised for it. Can’t you forgive me?’I shook my head. ‘I have forgiven you, but I am sorry; we can’t be together anymore. I'm in love with someone else.’‘You are in love with Tessa?’ She asked, shock written on
Avaline KingI watched Kyle step out of the Roberts Villa and drive off. I couldn’t believe my eyes. So, he couldn’t wait to get me out of his life before he started visiting the bed of Tessa! He didn’t even have one iota of shame. I slammed my hands on the driver’s seat and yelled at the driver to follow him. I was going to confront him, then report him again to Dahila.I wasn’t going to sign the documents, but my threat? I was going to fulfill it and teach Kyle a lesson he won’t forget. He couldn’t leave me for that ugly woman! Right now, I didn’t care that she was the mother of his kids; all I saw was a potential threat to everything I had worked for in my life, including my marriage.
Geneveve Tessa KingI read the text that Kyle sent again. It was more like a warning than a concern. His mom was in town, and he wanted me to be careful. Careful about what? I wasn’t afraid of his mom, and I hadn't even done anything to her, so why should I be careful? Except she wanted to harm my kids. I forwarded the message to James. He would know what to do with it.Also, it might be Kyle’s way of telling me to prepare for an epic battle. After yesterday’s conversation, I knew he wasn’t going to stop until he had his chance with me and the kids.Kyle King.I replayed the conversation I had with mom after Kyle left. She had questioned my feelings for Kyle and wanted to know if I sti
Avaline KingI smiled, enjoying the horrific look on Tessa’s face. ‘You should learn to answer your elders respectfully. Now, where were we?’Tessa shook her head. ‘You shouldn’t have done that, Ava. Those project plans took your cousin and me weeks to create. I hope you have a good reason when she questions you about this.’‘You will redo them because Muna is one of your biggest clients. Anyway, she will believe her blood more than you. I will just tell her you were angry about her suggestions and decided to trash them. That should do it, right?’Dahila agreed, ‘Yes, that’s smart. Now, back to the reason why we are here: Tessa, I heard a rumour, and I need to confirm it before I take further action. Those kids are with you. Is Kyle their father?’Tessa smiled, adjusting her red hair. I could tell she wasn’t afraid of us, but she was relaxed, which wasn’t the expression I expected from her.‘I don’t owe you or Avaline any answer about my personal life. If this is why you and her showe
Kyle KingI ignored the bottle that Xavier dropped beside me and continued ranting about Avaline and my mom. Luckily, Xavier got the message and allowed me to curse and lament about the fall of my marriage with Avalline. I also told him everything that happened at Tessa’s house and my next plan.‘I thought you were going to say, ‘It’s over, man. Let’s get our things and return to our beloved country.’ and not this. Well, you never listen to me, so I am not surprised.' Xavier repiled, adding more ice cubes to his beer.I glanced at him and said, ‘I had to see her, Kyle. She finally agreed to let me see her, even though the terms of the meeting were against me. Right now, I don’t think I will be returning to the States on Saturday. No. I have to finish this race.’Xavier laughed. ‘I don’t get you, man, but whatever. If you want to continue this thing with Tessa, I will advise you to do something about Avaline. She’s scaring me, to be honest, and I don't think I will love to stay in the
Avaline KingI wanted to make my last day in the United Kingdom a memorable one, so all night while everyone slept, I stayed up and browsed various places I could visit, but one place caught my interest. It was a book club that was holding a fashion-themed session. I used to be a lover of books years ago before I focused my creativity on getting fashion gigs for the family and myself. However, my love for books didn’t die. No. I kept them close to my heart, and upon entering the King's family, I knew I had made the right decision because I discovered Kyle was a lover of books too. Although I never revived my interest, some days when I was bored, I strolled into his library and picked up captivating titles and scanned through them. I registered for the book club and read through their events. They had a lot of activities, and everything was packed with glamour, spiciness, and uniqueness. I couldn’t help but wonder if they would be open to new members. Okay, visiting members. An hour
Genevieve Tessa Roberts I was fidgeting. I heaved a deep sigh and pulled the hem of my dress to cover my knees. Taking a glance at the wristwatch strapped to my wrist, I noted with great angst that it's been over twenty minutes since the Doctor walked out of the room on an excuse to get back to me soon. Sighing again, I rubbed my palms together before picking up my phone to check if I had any missed calls or anything of the sort but nothing stood out to me. I started to put my phone away when the door opened and I stopped and turned toward the woman that had walked in. Sitting up in my seat, my eyes followed Doctor Brown’s movement till she finally settled back in her seat which was right in front of me, separated by a huge desk that had a bunch of stuff I wasn't interested in on it. “Sorry for the long wait, Mrs. King. Here is the test result.” She smiled softly before handing me the results. I hesitated for a second, my heart leaping with what I didn't know as I eyed the unse
Genevieve Tessa Roberts My body stopped moving but my fingers didn't. I stood there, eyes wide with disbelief and apparent shock as I listened to my husband, Kyle go on and on about a lot of things I was too shocked to decipher. He was talking to Xavier, his childhood best friend who had always been in our lives. I had no idea what to say to that or what to think. My heart must have died on the spot because I suddenly found it hard to breathe. Grasping the fabric of my coat, I willed myself to take in deep sharp breaths but it was extremely hard. All I felt was pain. Excruciating pain that rendered me numb. “But, do you really think that you need to do that? Maybe you should take more tests or consider another option. IVF? Surrogacy?” Xavier was talking, asking the mother fucker I called my husband. “IVF, we have already done and concluded. Nothing's worked out. My mother would have my head at the thought of surrogacy. You know how uptight she is and how she wouldn't bend to the sc
