My thoughts were running faster than my paws.

I didn’t know which angle to look at or what thoughts I should entertain. I knew Catherine was safe in our territory. We had never been attacked and challenged for many years, not counting the fake threat spearheaded by Luna Renee.

So I shouldn’t be worried. But I was.

After the many times Catherine suffered on her own without me, the last thing I wanted was for her to feel I could never protect her. Because the Goddess knew I would lay my life for the only female my heart was beating for.

And my wolf felt the same way.

Black howled to the moon, sending our prayers to Selene to keep our mate safe wherever she was and to let us find her.

We were almost at the meadows when the wind blew in our direction, and Catherine’s sweet smell reached my nostrils. We got our answer.

Tears trickled down my face as Black sped up in his running.

She was there. All we needed to know was if she was safe and unharmed.
