Chapter Twenty

I awoke to the gentle embrace of dawn, the first rays of sunlight weaving through the curtains of the room. As I sat up, a furrowed brow revealed the thoughts that occupied my mind.

I was mindful of the slumbering world around me, I glanced at Mandy beside me, her form peaceful in the morning light.

A momentary tenderness softened my features as I leaned down and gently pressed a kiss to her forehead. I whispered, "Hope you slept well.”

With a last gazed at her, I silently slipped away, leaving Mandy to the embrace of dreams.

I was about to have some free from the fridge in my room but was interrupted by the warrior who mindlinked me. “Alpha Cain, we have urgent news. Last night, there was an intruder attempting to break into the underground cells.”
