SERENA

Jared moved swiftly and sent a kick to the face of Drogo. The kick connecting perfectly sent him on his back. Not giving him breathing space, he proceeded with the right combination of punches, and also using his right hand, he stabbed him multiple times over with the silver dagger.

Drogo, not willing to pack down, threw his weight on Jared, punching him in the face, once, twice, and up to seven times in a row. For a moment, I thought he had offed Jared, as Jared lay lifeless on the ground.

Drogo made his way to me, trying to pull my neck, but as though the moon goddess had my prayers, Jared silently got up and walked toward Drogo, sending the silver dagger finely into his shoulder. He punched him on the jaw, then sent another punch to his cheeks, and finally, he kicked the dagger further down into his shoulder. Drogo fell there, bleeding, but his hands seemed to move.

“Get up!” Jared said as he stretched his hand out again to help me. There was no time to ask questions; I di

~ SELENAI was pleased to see him. And question after question welled up in my mind, what was the reason Killian left me all by myself? Was he tired of me, or was I a burden to him? These thoughts kept crawling through my head as I was scared and afraid of being left all by myself. The trauma of seeing Clara shot in the head and almost getting killed too gave me sleepless nights. It kept replaying in my head, all of that kept giving me nightmares, and I didn't know what to do.I turned to the bed and saw Killian sleeping, he seemed peaceful in his sleep. Happy as I was to see him happy beside me, but I was going through a lot inside of me. Who would want to have me dead, could it be Katrina? Or who would it be, it seemed like I couldn't place a tag on what would become of my unborn babies. Killian had told me the circumstances that brought us together, but they didn't seem to end. Was I a cursed wolf or was I destined for trouble, maybe it was part of me all along.I decided that I w

~ SELENA Maybe he could take me seriously and train me. I wasn't sure Killian would let me train let alone get involved in a fight, he was too overprotective of me and that could make me an extra target if words went out to his enemies. You know, every Alpha had enemies and I wouldn't want to get caught in the web of an attack this way.I trained on my own for about four hours as I watched Jared train. I learned a lot in practicing his every move and it also was a form of exercise for me. My body felt good for this. The way I felt made me happy. It was refreshing.“I see you are training yourself and you're enjoying it. You seem to have never had fight training before, right?” Jared asked me.I searched my mind quickly and then gave him an answer, “Yes I've never had training before.” I responded. One good thing I noticed with the training was it brought flashes of something that felt like my past to me. I could see images of a trampled girl. She was constantly beaten with all ki

~ NADIAMy eyes welcomed the darkness as though it was part of my life now. Frankly speaking, it was just that I could still see the daylight but a bigger part of everything my eyes saw was darkness.I heard a creaking sound as I moved inside the closet I had hidden myself in. I adjusted myself again and then buried my head inside my thighs.I had shifted a little when I thought I heard something move but now I was back to it.Folded that way, hugging my knees, I had been crying for almost an hour.Bree had left, despite my pleas, and rolled on the floor. I saw Liam come out of the Hunter's room and when I asked him what the Hunter had said concerning my proposal, he patted me on the back and asked me to be strong. It would only be for a while."Hunter is just a little worked up." He said, "It'll come to an end soon. Just give him some time. You can do this."After about an hour of useless tears and even hiccups from the crying, I finally managed to carry myself back to my room. I cr

Jared's POV.I felt a cold frenzy as I strode with Alpha Killian, tension coiling like a tightly wound spring. We had been discussing the woman I wanted to be my mate when Killian's phone rang, shattering the jovial spirit of the moment. His reaction was immediate; he reached for the device with a sense of urgency that sent alarm bells ringing in my mind.Without explanation, Killian bolted from the room, leaving me and the rest of his guards staring after him in shock. “What was that?” I looked to the guards behind me for an explanation; maybe they knew something I didn't, but when they shook their heads, I figured we were all surprised. My instincts screamed at me to follow, to uncover the source of his distress, and I wasted no time in giving chase. As I made my way through the corridors and hallways, trying to catch up with Killian, I discovered that he wasn't there. My eyes were drowsy. I was tired, but that didn't stop me from finding him. I felt something bad was about to ha

SELENAI couldn’t believe the speed at which I saw Killian run into the room. I lay on Alpha Killian's bed, dressed in nothing but bum shorts and a sports bra. I couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation coursing through my veins. It was a risk to wear such attire in my condition, but I was willing to endure the discomfort if it meant impressing Killian, who was gradually capturing my heart. I had spent the day alone and thinking about him.And so, as I waited for him to return, my mind buzzed with a heady mix of excitement and nervousness, my heart racing in anticipation of his reaction. I wanted to surprise him, to see the look of desire and admiration in his eyes when he saw me, to know that I had succeeded in capturing his attention as he had captured mine. And then, suddenly, he was there, bursting through the door with a look of shock etched upon his features. I watched as his expression shifted from disbelief to confusion to a look that was in tune with surprise. His e

~ NADIAI was distraught with the treatment I had received from him. My trip back home was a somber one, the weight of Alpha Hunter's words lingering in the air like a heavy fog.He was meant to say those words to some other girl because he had a woman like me in his life, not telling me to leave and calling it good news. How would I handle this child alone? He simply didn't want us in his life but was willing to be a father from a distance. What a pathetic offering.I was hurt. I was so hurt that I had nothing else to say as I could only sit still while they returned me to my home.Bound and escorted by his men, I was frozen, a sense of betrayal and resentment festered within me. We hit a bump near my house and then I was jolted back to reality.“We're here.” They announced. As soon as we reached the familiar confines of my home, their bindings fell away, releasing me from their grasp.“Thank you so much." I managed to say, not even realizing what I was thanking them for. ~ SELENAToday was the best day of my life.I awoke to the soft warmth of Killian's embrace, his arms wrapped around me in a protective cocoon. His lips brushed against my forehead, leaving a trail of feather-light kisses as I stirred from my slumber. It was certain I had dreamt about us in my dreams, the way I felt was something out of a Mexican telenovela. I felt loved—truly loved. At first, I was startled and disoriented by the unexpected intimacy of his touch. But as the fog of sleep lifted from my mind, I found myself returning to reality and the reassuring presence of Killian beside me."Are you alright?" he whispered, his voice soft and gentle against my ear. I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest as I struggled to find my voice. Killian's concern was evident in the furrow of his brow and in the tender way he brushed a stray lock of hair from my face. Before I could respond, there was a knock at the door, interrupting the fragile moment between us. ~ KILLIANI was sitting on the balcony when one of the guards brought in a parcel he had received on behalf of the pack.I looked at the package and asked him to open it. I needed to be careful. You never know who might have another target on me. Laura was being hunted inside my pack because she was my mate. I had set up an investigative team to begin looking into past occurrences. I would find the culprit and deal with them mercilessly.“Open it, let me see what’s inside of it,” I told the guard. I was skeptical about opening it myself. My detractors might be targeting me. Just in case there might be a bomb in it, one of these replaceable guards should take the hit. That’s why he’s a guard in the first place. He opened the package, and it contained a sealed white envelope. I looked at him and asked if there was anything else in there. He looked, and there was another note from Alpha King Gregory.I asked that he read it, and I saw that I had been recognized as one of the Alphas who

~HUNTER My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when I heard the doctor’s report about Olivia’s condition.“She was poisoned?!”I’d been sure she was just having one of her usual asthma attacks, not this!“Yes, Alpha. We discovered the juice she drank was poisoned.”What? Who brings poison to a kid’s party?Confused, I turned to Alpha Newton, who had been with me in the doctor’s office. Nadia was at Olivia’s bedside, sobbing uncontrollably.“Don’t you know anything about this?” I demanded, glaring at him, but he stayed silent. “If you’d let Olivia stay under my roof, this wouldn’t have happened,” I snapped.Newton narrowed his eyes at me, his expression challenging. “Even if Olivia makes it through this, you won’t be keeping her!”I growled in response. We locked eyes, our anger palpable, until the doctor interrupted. “Can we continue now?”“What’s the plan to fix her condition?” I asked urgently.“Miss Olivia’s blood is contaminated by the poison she ingested. Besides, I’ve been missing you all holiday, so I figured this was the perfect chance to see you,” Megan replied, her smile growing as they walked into the grand living room where the party was in full swing.“Same here! I tried calling you, but you wouldn’t pick up!” Olivia said with a frown.“My mom confiscated my phone. I don’t know why, but she seems to be against our friendship,” Megan mused.Olivia's frown deepened. “Why would she be against it? Did I do something wrong?”Megan shrugged. “I don’t think so, but I’m not sure. If I had told her I was coming here, she wouldn’t have let me.”“You sneaked out?” Olivia gasped.“I told you I’d do anything to be here, didn’t I? So, here we are!”“You’re so brave, Megan. I've been panicking, worried about where she might have gone, especially with the kids and my baby. She hasn't been answering my calls or replying to any of my texts. I suspect she might have changed her number so I can't trace her location.Even with Liliana's relentless help, we're still short of clues about where she might be. I've also been to all the properties she owns, but none of the caretakers have seen her.She probably thinks I'd harm her if I found out where she is. She knew I'd look for her at her properties, so she played it safe by not going there.I wanted Laura all these years, and when I finally had her, I lost her in the blink of an eye.I wish I could turn back time and right my wrongs. At the very least, I wouldn't have scared her with that damn gun!SighThe guilt of my actions is eating me alive as the days go by, and I fear I might become even more devastated if I

I locked eyes with Katrina, then turned back to him, my gaze narrowing dangerously. Could he have been working with Katrina all this time to kill Laura? In a flash, I caught him as he tried to bolt from the room, grabbing him by the neck. I yanked the gun from his pocket and slammed him against the wall. He collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily, blood trickling down his face.As Katrina stepped closer, trying to calm me down, I aimed the gun at her, a silent warning to stay back.“How long have you been working with her?” I demanded from Lionel. He swallowed hard, his voice trembling. “Since you left for your last business trip. Forgive me, Alpha!”Anger darkened my eyes. This had been going on for so long, and I never knew!“What else did she pay you to do besides poisoning Laura?”From the corner of my eye, I saw Katrina shaking her head at him, signaling him to stay quiet as he glanced her way.His face turned pale as I cocked the gun. “What else?” “She paid me to plant a mo

Keeping a straight face, I asked, "What evidence did you find?"She closed the distance between us, suddenly leering at me as she slowly ran her hand up my arm.Sensing her intentions, I swatted her hand away, my jaw tightening with anger. "Is this what you called me for?"She let out a bitter chuckle. "So, it’s come to the point where I can't even touch you?""Stop acting dumb. That was more than just a touch," I snapped, glaring at her. "We've been over this. I have a mate now, and you know what happens if I choose to cheat."I don't desire her anymore. ~THIRD POV.Fifteen-year-old Killian hid behind the trunk of a tree, his blue eyes wide open, tears filling them as he helplessly watched his father being surrounded by a pack of wolves. As he stood there, fidgeting, Killian wondered what was wrong with his father. His father had never been too weak to fight back. To say the least, Killian always saw his father as undefeated."The strongest man alive," Killian had teased his father a moment earlier while he taught him how to hunt. ~KILLIANI glanced at my wristwatch for the umpteenth time, my eyebrows knitting together in concern. Laura still hadn't returned from the washroom. Just as I was about to go look for her, she was announced as the winner of the category. Since she wasn’t in the hall, I went up on stage to accept the award on her behalf, but my thoughts were elsewhere. I quickly rounded up the speech, almost too abruptly, and handed the award to Droost as I stepped down from the podium."I'll be right back," I told him, my tone hurried. My mind raced with all the negative possibilities as I made my way to the restroom area.Keeping my composure, I walked down the corridor leading to the washrooms and knocked on the first door. "Laura?" I called out. There was silence, and just as I was about to move to the next door, it opened. I stepped inside quickly, feeling relieved at the sight of her. But my relief faded as I noticed her slightly teary eyes."Are you okay?" I asked, my worry evident. She nodded.
