CHAPTER THREE

"Mate"

I whisper as I stare at him in awe and joy. Its Chase, the guy I've been secretly having a crush on ever since I was a pup. My wolf is singing happily. Chase Star, the beta's son, we were classmates in high school and I always had this fantasy that we would be great as a couple...and its finally happening. No longer a fantasy, the moon goddess has decided to visit me by granting me my wish. I can already feel the bond growing, he is my mate. I feel like screaming right now, I'm so happy. I was smiling as I run towards him, I expected him to smile too much and throw his hands around me, but he just stood still, a grim expression on his handsome face. I felt a foreboding of fear, he was staring at me with anger, it was evident in his eyes. I was confused and scared.

"Ch...Chase what is it? Why aren't you saying anything?" I asked him uneasily.

He scoffs and steps a little bit closer and leans directly into my face, I can clearly see the hazel embers of his eyes but right now I'm not fascinated. I'm scared.

"Did you think I will accept an Omega like you, a useless piece of trash for a mate?" My heart stings at his brutal words. "You must be delusional."

"What do you mean Chase please don't do this"

"Do what" he shrugged his wide shoulders, "I'm only saying the truth I'm the Beta's son and as such I should have a perfect if not the best mate. But you....." He smirked at me, "....are as useless as they come."

I shake my head refusing to believe what he is saying as I grab his arm with tears in my eyes that are threatening to fall. He can't do this to me, not my mate, this isn't how I imagined it would be. 

"Please, I can be better I'm not weak at all. I can be strong for you" I know I'm being pathetic and desperate but I don't care, I can't let my mate slip away from my hands just like that.

"Then what are you and what can you become!" My sister's voice, Lucy rings out as she walks seducingly towards us, some of the unmated makes stare at her with lust. She gives me an evil smile and in front of me kisses Chase, my mate, and to my horror he is kissing her back as fierce, even moaning in pleasure, my eyes prick with tears but I can't turn away. I can feel the gaze of everyone on me, I don't know how to deal with shame. When they are through kissing, I calmly ask.

"How long has this been going on.?"

Chase drags Lucy and holds her possessively by the waist,that should be me.

"Oh, a year now and seeing as we both don't have a mate, I think its time we do the needful don't you think" Chase says to Lucy.

Thats when I snap. "No way, take your hands off him." I push her but Chase holds onto her more tighter. 

"You can't do this to me Lucy, I've been nothing but respectful to you but he is mine, my mate. I'm sure your mate is out there somewhere waiting for you so why do you want to take what is mine away from me, is it to torture me? If it is, you have succeeded but I won't allow it." 

I'm breathing hard, tears sting my cheeks, everywhere is quiet and they are both staring at me in surprise, yeah, I didn't think I had it in me either.

"And who are you to stop them?" 

I turn sharply and watch as I and Chase's parents walk towards us. My wolf is whimpering even more because she knows this is getting worse. I keep my head low not raising it as they reach us. Of course, they pretend I'm not there.

"My son, I am happy you are making a good choice. I agree to this union" Beta Mason booms out.

"Besides who else is more suitable for the Alpha's only daughter" I bite my lips and hold in tears as I listen to my mother. Then my father speaks.

"Chase, I give you permission to take Lucy, my daughter as your mate, you both deserve each other"

"Thank you Alpha"

"Oh thanks dad"

"Its okay, anything for my family. Why don't you bother accept each other."

"Sure we want to but I have to do something first" Chase says slyly, I know he is grinning. My heart is beating faster as I fear what he is about to say. 

"I have to reject her first"

No! I gasp in horror. No no no, please the goddess can't let this happen to me , what have I done wrong to deserve all these pain. I raise my head up as I rush to Chase, begging.

"Please Chase don't do this to me, please I'm begging you"

Then someone slaps me, the slap is so hard that I fall to the ground and my ears ring.

"Who are you to call his name without respect of fear, how dare you Omega." I whimper in pain and from the pressure of his voice.

"I'm sorry Beta, I'm sorry" I gasp out as I painfully stand up without taking my head up. Then Chase steps forward and stands in from if me.

"I Chase Star, son of Beta Mason, Beta to Alpha Maxine Blackclaw, hereby reject you Avery Omega, of Blackclaw pack as my mate".

I fall to the ground again, whimpering in pain as my heart is struck with intense pain. Its like my heart is being torn in pieces all over again like three years ago, just worse.

"Oh please accept your rejection and stop whimpering Omega" Lucy sneers at me. 

I didn't want to accept the rejection but I thought to myself, he already has a chosen mate supported by everyone, including my family. What was the user of holding on to him when he didn't want me. It was apparently that I was a disgrace as a person and as a mate and I won't be able to receive the love which I love for. I take a deep breath as I stand up and stare into his eyes with my tear filled eyes.

"I, Avery Omega, Omega of Blackclaw pack hereby accepts your rejection, Chase Star, son of Beta Mason, beta to Alpha Maxine of Blackclaw pack" as soon as I said these words, I heard the sound of something breaking distinctly in my ears. I crumpled to the floor in pain, while weeding silently as I heard them accept each other. I feel like something in me has broken, something very connected to me.
