CHAPTER SEVEN

THIRD PERSON P.O.V

"Damn it. I've never seen them in this number before." 

Lucien growled as he surveyed the the wolves. There were about twenty maybe even more wolf shifters ahead of them, all snarling with their fangs. Not that he felt intimidated but this was not the time for this, he wanted to go home and get some alone time. And this here was tampering his plans. The wolves were twice larger than normal wolves and all of them directed their gaze at him or to be specific something behind him. 

"They keep trying to head for the car" the man who has reported to Lucien spoke behind him.

"I think I know what they want but I don't know why." 

Damien grunted, his voice was gruff and laced with anger. He knew they were targeting Avery. Lucien almost turned back to glance at the car but he didn't. It wasn't his job to do so....not anymore. 

"Lets get this done, I want clean kills. When we are done burn down the bodies." He commanded.

"Yes Alpha."

"Yes"

They both answered him.

Lucien took a deep breath and immediately his body warped and twisted. In a matter of seconds, a tall creature with jet black fur resembling a wolf but stood on its hind legs was in his place. Lucien's wolf was a Lycan, the highest of all wolf shifters. Behind him two wolves were standing were Damien and the other man were standing. Damuen's wolf was black streaked with with at the head and tail and considerable bigger than the other normal wolves, he wasn't a Lycan like his brother. 

Lucien's eyes had turned red and they flashed with bloodlust. He reared his head up to the sky and gave a loud roar that shook and echoed everywhere. His roar was so strong that some of the rogue wolves stumbled and whimpered.

"Attack!" Lucien ordered, his voice came out guttural.

Immediately, Damien howled and dashed towards the rogues, his men followed in town. Lucien already had his target, the leader of the rogue who happened to be waiting for him also. The rogue leader stalked towards him, bigger than normal wolves with dirty gray fur, sharp fangs that dropped with saliva and a crazy look on his face. It growled at Lucien in challenge. Lucien growled deep in his throat in answer. In a flash, the rogue wolf sprung towards Lucien, its claws open and headed for his throat. But Lucien was ready for it and swiped his sharper claws against its stomach. The wolf felt to the ground writhing in pain as its internal organs sprawled out in disarray. Lucien stalked towards it, even in pain and on the verge of death, the wolf kept trying to get up. To end its suffering, Lucien used his claws and took off its head completely. He discarded the head and shifted back to human, his clothes had been torn when he had shifted so he headed for the car which usually stored extra clothes. His men were done with the other rogues and were in the midst of dressing. 

"How did it go?" Damien asked as he handed him a pair of pants and a shirt.

"Nothing much, too weak to give me a challenge." He shrugged as he dressed.

Damien was quiet, Lucien glanced at him and sighed.

"What"

"They were here for something".

"Are you saying what I'm thinking?" He started to walk away from the others, Damien followed him.

"No, not that. I'm thinking they want Avery."

"She is not my mate, I don't see any importance in getting her." He deadpanned.

Damien grunted with exasperation as he ran his fingers through his hair.

"They want her because she was meant to be your mate, I'm sure they believe they can still get to you through her"

Lucien was silent as he stared off into the distance, his face was grim, his lips pressed into a tight line. How did they even find out she was his mate, he sighed with frustration.

"This was why I didn't want an Omega as a mate, she is too weak. I can't be ruling over my people while worrying over her." 

"So what do you intend to do?"

The smoke from the burning bodies permeated the air and headed towards the blue sky.

"You need to send her back, our world is too dangerous for her"

Damien frowned and opened his mouth to answer but then a scream was heard.

"Avery!" Lucien whispered.

"It came from the forest, let's go" Damien shouted as he sprayed into a run. Lucien said nothing but ran at full speed surpassing his brother and his men, they couldn't even see his shadow.

She screamed again, his heart raced as he sprinted towards her direction. His heart was beating furiously, his breathing had become static as he wheezed passed trees and shrugs. He finally stopped when he caught her scent. 

"Avery!" He yelled.

"H..he..help" 

The voice was tiny and weak but he heard it clearly, he rushed passed some huge logs and some shrubs. To his relief, Avery was standing in the middle of a clearing, sunlight tricked their way through the huge tree leaves and bathed her body but her face was dead white in terror as she stood facing something he couldn't see.

"Avery?" He called out tentatively as he walked towards her, he finally stood in front of her and gasped in horror. She was holding the decapitated head of a rogue wolf, her hands too were stained with blood. Her eyes were blank as they stared into space not recogning anything around her.

"Avery what happened?"

Her eyes finally blinked with recognition, her lips trembled as she spoke.

"H..he tried to kill me...but it saved me"

"It?" He questioned, to his horror, she dropped the head and fell onto his body, her body was heavy and unmoving.

"Avery!"

Damien rushed towards him, his eyes frantic and worried as his chest heaved up and down in rapid motions.

"What happened to her?"

"She'll be fine, she just fainted"

"What the fuck!" Damien exclaimed as he saw the bloodied horrifying head at Avery's feet.

"Shit! What's that?"

"Did she kill that!"

"No way, she is too weak."

"Then who did?"

The confused words if Lucien's men rang out in the forest, he stared at them quietly while his brother still stared at the gory head, Avery still laid limp in his arms.

"Silence" he roared. They immediately quietened down as they stared at him.

"I don't know what happened here, but if we want to find out, at least let's get out of here first and wait for her to wake up. Is that clear?"

"Yes Alpha"

They began leaving, he wrapped his hands tighter around her as he moved, taking care to make sure he didn't trip of hurt her.

"I don't know what happened but I'm glad you are safe." he softly whispered as he took in her scent.
