Chapter 1

Skylar POV

I layed on the soft bed,it felt comfortable, and felt the soft light from the window and the warm breeze that blew the curtain

I slowly open my eyes i blinked my eye to stabilize my vision

I looked around trying to familiarize myself with my environment.

I had no idea where I was and how i got here. I drew my brows close in confusion.

'Where am I?' I thought. It took me a lot of energy to stand up, and i fell back immediately, groaning as pain shot through my body. I felt sore all over, and numb too; It felt as though i'd been ran over by a car.

"Thank God you're awake!" a feminine voice said, heavy with relief. I, with great difficulty, turned sideways to look in the direction of the voice and i saw a lady in scrubs, presumably a nurse. She walked briskly out of the room and seconds later, she returned with a doctor.

"Was there any form of stimulation before she regained consciousness?" The doctor asked

“None. She hasn't said a word. I'd say locked in syndrome but there's been head movements. She looks like she's in a minimally conscious state”the nurse responded

“Fair enough. Considering the circumstances surrounding her admission, she's at risk for post-traumatic amnesia. Let's get her prepped for an MRI.”

The doctor and the nurse talked as if i was not present in the room. Their words and figures kept fading in and out and I closed my eyes and breathed out heavily

Leon POV

I was working endlessly on my desk. I was so immersed in my work that i didn't hear the knock on my door .

"Boss" my secretary called from outside my office but i ignored him

"Boss" my secretary yelled loudly this time and I paused, my hands hovering over my keyboard keys. I raised my brows in annoyance, clearly ready to murder my secretary if it was nothing serious.

"Come in" i finally said after a while, my secretary came in, hurriedly, paused to catch his breath, and said,

"She's awake!"

"Skylarr??" I asked in disbelief

He nodded in response and smiled, clearly happy for me.he must felt genuinely happy and grateful for me, even though that woman still hated me but at least she's awake now,i can finally rest,i can finally have rest of mind.

I didn't react for long,I was deep in thought and finally stood up in haste after a while

I took my jacket and dashed out as if I'm been pursued.

But my secretary who knows why couldn't help but smile "she will be the death of him" he gushed and ran after me.

I pretended not to hear him.

Skylar POV

"What is this?"

"A cat"

"This?"

"A dog"

"What about this?"

"It's a pen"

After a series of questions, I felt tired and annoyed. Why am I being asked such useless questions? Do i look like that stupid ??

"What about your name"

"My name is…” I trailed off

I blinked and tried again “My name is....my name...”

I creased my brows. How comes i don't remember my own name, i thought hard and hard but stopped when my head started to hurt.

"I don't know" i said finally, my reply surprising me.

"I see" the doctor nodded and continued with the questioning.

"Do you remember how you got here??"

"No idea" i replied

The doctor noddded wordlessly and took down notes.

"Nurse Fiona, let's run the necessary tests." He said standing up and looking down at me reassuringly “You'll be alright.” and he walked out with the nurse.

Moments later, I was transferred to a wheelchair and wheeled out of the room.

"Sister!" i heard someone cry suddenly in excitement as we turned a corner in the hospital premises.

I stiffened when I realized she was referring to me.

'What sister?'

'Do I have a sister?'

"Sister" a strange beautiful lady pulled me into her arms before i could react. She cried for a while, while i was trying to comprehend what just happened.

'Who's she?' I thought feeling a bit pissed off at how she brawled. I couldn't help but think she was pretending but i kept still and i did not react to her bawling.

After wailing for a while, she finally let go of me.

"I'm happy you are now awake" she said to me

"I feel really happy I thought we'd lost you. Turns out…"

"Who are you??" I asked speaking for the first time.

My voice came out hoarse and indifferent.

"You don't remember me?" She asked pointing at herself, she widened her eyes in surprise her eyes glittered with disbelief

she shaked her head to indicate she doesn't believe me.

'What wrong with her,tch I'm getting irked already' I thought with a frown

She can't help but turn to the nurse when I wasn't replying

"She doesn't seem to recognize me"

"Yes. We are running some tests. She might have lost her memory."

The nurse replied and she nodded in understanding, she looked at me, gently pat my hair, gazing softly at me like I'm the most important thing in her life.

I couldn't help but shiver.I don't know why her gaze scares me as if there's something about her but why can't I remember?

"We'll go ahead, then. If you'll excuse us.”

The nurse said, breaking the silence.

"Oh sure. I will be waiting"

"Thanks, excuse me" the nurse replied and pulled the wheelchair away, if i turned around in time i would have seen the sharp glint on the strange lady's face.

James POV

"She's awake," someone from the other side of the phone said

"Gosh this brat she doesn't want to die huh? Do I have to kill her again?"

I said to the person on the other end of the phone, i sat on his desk in my study

"Should I just finish her off?" The one on the other end asked

"No let her be, let's see how this goes, you know Leon had his eyes on us, stay low for a while," i said and hung up. Before i dropped my cell phone, my wife barged in.

"James did I just hear you say Skylar is awake?"

"Yes you heard that right, she's awake again"

"That brat! She doesn't want to die right, how many times do we have to kill her? God, I hate her!!"

My wife barked with hatred.

"It ok, let's just go with the flow, she's still in the palm of my hand" I replied a lazy smile playing on my lips.

"I wish she could just die already! shit! She's been giving me sleepless nights for a while now."

"Forget about Skylar, come here"

I said and pulled her to me, she fell on my lap and blushed.

"James, what are you trying….."

Her voice trailed off, as i claimed her lips. Leon POV

I ran to the reception breathing heavily "Skylar James" i said to the receptionist.

"Just a minute," she said and checked the files "she's in the examination room right now but her room number is….."

I ran off before she finished

I barged into the room and met Skylar sister whom i can't recall her name. She jumped up in fear,paled and calmed down when she realized it was me.

"Leon it's you," she said with a sweet smile

I only nodded in reply,as I was not interested in talking to her. She always try to chat with me whenever we met i snubbed her most of the time but she doesn't seem to get my message.

"She's in the examination room" she said even before I asked.

"Stella, what are you doing here?" I asked raising my brow not sure if that her name

"It's Stacy" she corrected with tears threatening to fall.I frowned and can't help but wonder why she's always close to tears anytime we meet.

"And I am Skylar's sister so I need to be here" she completed

"I see" i replied and my secretary barged in before i could sit

"Boss" he stood panting for a while. he leaned on the door for support and finally talked after catching his breath.

"Where's she?"

"In the examination room"

"Oh! " he shut up and we all stood in silence, i moved to the bed and sat down waiting for her

An hour seemed like an eternity.

The door opened and we all looked to see who it was.

The nurse wheeled her in and closed the door

The nurse was surprised to see new visitors.

I quickly move towards her.

"Skylar" i called with excitement

She looked up at me blankly and frowned.

She stared hard as if trying to remember who I was.

My heart sank,and I started sweating immediately.

'Is she pretending?' I thought.

"Skylar it's Leon"

Her frown deepened

"Skylar"

"Who are you?"

Her voice came out raspy. I felt pain in my heart and it starting beating rapidly my palm starting sweating and my head felt heavy,I balled my fists to calm myself down.

'It's ok Leon. She's just pretending, she's done this before' I assured but that don't reduce my worry a bit instead it worsen

I looked from my secretary to Skylar,

He nodded to encourage me,I took a deep breath close my eyes and reopened it.

She looked at me like I was crazy.

'Yes i'm crazy about you, you just don't know' I thought and my mouth felt bitter

"Can't you remember me?"

I asked again to be sure.

"I can't" she replied without hesitation and emotion whatsoever

"She's got retrograde amnesia, so she might have a hard time recognizing you" The nurse came to my rescue.

I took a breath I didn't know I was holding I thought she was intentionally denying me turns out….

I couldn't hold in any longer .

So i went closer and pull her into my arms

She stiffened but who cares! I held her tighter.

"What...what are you doing?"

"Hugging you" i replied, she struggled to release herself but i held her tighter

"Let me go"

"Nooo" I refused and held her like my life depended on it.

"Who do you think you are? Let me go, you have no right to…."

"Is it wrong for a husband to hug his wife?" I said and felt her stiffen. I smiled.

She stopped struggling

"What do you mean??"

"About what??"

"About being my husband"

"Yes, is it wrong for me to hug my wife?"

"You mean we are married?"

"Yes we are"

"What did you...like we are married!" She whispered and managed to break free from me

She watched as i nodded my head

She stared at me in shock

"Unbelievable huh?" I asked with a smirk

"Are you kidding me?!" she added a but louder before she could stop herself

"Ain't kidding you" I replied,she stared from me to the nurse, to her sister then my secretary unable to hide her shock.

"You're all lying" she yelled out and before I could wrap my head what she was trying to do

She suddenly stood up from her wheelchair shocking us all.

"You are not supposed to stand up the drip is connected with your wheelchair" the nurse yelled in panic

My heart tightened as I saw Skylar groan,she gasped and I knew she's in pain.

She groaned louder and held her head and started crying the drip already disconnected

She suddenly screamed.

"Aaaaahhh!" And I swear my heart stopped for a while.

She went down and I quickly caught her before she hit the floor.

"Skylar!!" I yelled out in worry
