Rion's POVAll my feelings of grief and loss, the emptiness; it all condensed into something more feral, malicious. Anger. Hatred.Everything was going perfectly between Ziarre and I. We loved each other and we were happy together. We were going to live a long, fulfilling life together but that monster suddenly showed up and stole Ziarre away from me. He cut her life short just in the blink of an eye and all for his stupid ignorance and twisted sense of justice. It all felt cruel, wickedly so. I don't care how he's related to Ziarre, he killed her and I'm going to make him pay dearly for that. He didn't consider her family so why should I? I'm going to take my time destroying him piece by piece so horrifically that death will seem like the easy way out. This is a promise I'm making to my lost love. I might have failed to be with her during her last moments but I won't fail to get justice for her.I stand up abruptly and wipe my tears, storming down the hallway, the dungeon my only des
Rion's POV Today, he will know true pain.“So the coward finally returns. You look like a wreck, did that bitch finally die? I hope she did or else I'll have to find a way out of here and finish the job.” He jeers and that only adds insult to injury. The more he mocks Ziarre's death, the less guilt I'll feel for what I'm about to do because he deserves it all.I walk over to him unhurriedly, taking calculated steps that only seem to escalate his nervousness. His mask is beginning to crack little by little. This foolish child is only pretending to be brave. He knows danger when he sees it and I must certainly reek of it.“Do you really think bringing me here will do anything? That any of this will affect me?” His laugh is strained, forced.I finally stop next to him, towering over him while he winces softly.“Take off the handcuffs and leave us.” I command the guard and he does as he's told, leaving only I, Nolan and the brat in the room.“Nolan, if you're going to stay you'd better n
Rion’s POVAs Jinu's cries continued to echo around the dungeon, I turned to Nolan.“Get me the drug.” “But…..”“Get me the drug.” I ordered again, stressing the words this time.Nolan sighed and got up, leaving the room only to return a few minutes later with a syringe.“Be careful with it, an overdose could cause hallucinations or worse….. It could mess him up forever. That's why we only use it in extreme cases.” Nolan warned and handed it over to me.It's almost comical how he's showing concern for this brat when he tortures people almost every other day. It's annoying.Jinu finally raised his head, his face stained with tears and his eyes red. There was pure fear in his face as he saw the syringe in my hand.“What….. What are you going to do with that?” He stuttered out, fresh tears pouring down.“Oh, this? Nothing much.” I said as I jammed the needle into his leg, injecting the entire contents into his bloodstream. He groaned and hissed while I handed the used needle to Nolan so
Rion's POV “Please….. please have mercy on me. I can't— I can't take it anymore. I've realized my mistake, just please don't hurt me anymore. You can keep me locked up for as long as you want but please stop this. It hurts so bad, I can't take it. Please, I'm begging you.” He pleads pathetically, crying nonstop. If I had a heart, perhaps I would have felt something. Maybe I could have grasped the concept of mercy and forgiveness but you see, my heart is dead.My dear mate took it along with her. I'm as hollow as can be, an empty shell.I lean down towards him and wipe his tears. His eyes widen with a mixture of fear and surprise and he jolts away instinctively. But when I reach out to wipe his tears again, he leans in, letting me touch him, seeking comfort. To think I haven't even started the torture and the pain has him already seeking alleviation. He sniffs, long lashes wet with tears and face red. I nose his neck and he releases a surprised gasp but doesn't pull away. It's strang
Jaselyn's POVHave you ever been so overcome with emotion that you lose sight of your surroundings and everything else? That's what happened after I witnessed Ziarre's death. I was so crushed I couldn't even articulate it. I hadn't known her for very long but still, she was like the sister I never had so her death hit me so hard. Harder than I could have ever prepared for.So when Rion's heavy footsteps departed, I wasn't in the state of mind to wonder what it would result in. Zane just held me like I needed, letting me cry as much as I wanted until I ran out of tears and could just sniff, breathing heavily. The pain in my heart hadn't lessened but somehow, I felt like I could actually think now, that I could function just a bit.I pulled away from Zane and wiped my tears. He looked perturbed and his eyes held a deep sadness. He's known Ziarre far longer than me and though they've never seemed particularly close, I know that he holds great respect for her.Plus the fact that she's th
Jaselyn's POV A guard stood by and seemed to be keeping watch. His eyes widened when they laid on Zane and he bowed.“Alpha, I didn't know you were coming.” He offered.“Stand aside, I want to go in.” The guard instantly raised his head, his features panic stricken.“But….. But Alpha, the Beta said not to……” The guard didn't even get the chance to finish before Zane silenced him with a growl.“How dare you question my authority? Will you take my Beta's orders over mine?” He demanded in a domineering voice which had the guard shaking.“I'm sorry, Alpha. I— I didn't mean it like that, please forgive my impudence.” The guard apologized profusely and moved out of the way, keeping his head bowed.I moved forward and pushed the door open with all my strength, rushing in.The sight before me was horrific. There was blood copiously pouring down a wound in Jinu's neck. His face was swollen and tear stained, his eyes bloodshot. Blood stained his lips and seeped down his chin. He was held down
Jaselyn's POV “Jaselyn!” It was Zane's voice. Hurried footsteps came my way as I gripped my head, trying to steady my vision. One hand settled on my shoulder and the other on my chin, propping it up so my eyes could meet Zane's.“You're hurt.” He stated the obvious angrily.“No, I'm fine. It's just a little scratch.” I tried to pacify him. The last thing I want now is a fight.“You say that but you're bleeding. This has gone way too far.” Zane gritted and helped me stand up before turning his attention to Rion who just gazed at us with dark eyes.“Do you see what you've done? Are you satisfied now?!” He yelled at Rion, who didn't even blink, keeping a passive expression.“She got in my way after I warned her not to.” He stated simply.“That's enough out of you!” Zane screamed as he attacked Rion, grabbing him by the collar. Rion did not back down, grabbing Zane aggressively as well, the both of them growling at each other.“Apologize to Jaselyn now!” Zane demanded.“Why should I? Sh
Jaselyn's POVIt's been about a week since Ziarre's passing and it's been tough, a lot has happened. The whole discussion about Zane's divorce with Isla that had been going on before Ziarre was attacked, had to be suspended and pushed forward because the entire Pack was in mourning and Alpha Ezra had to respect that whether he liked it or not.Zane apologized to the guests that had stayed behind after the commotion and revealed the sad news to them. They all shared their condolences and left. After my encounter with Isla during the time when I suspected that she was responsible for Ziarre's condition, she decided to stay away from me and that's something I'm deeply grateful for. Dealing with Ziarre's death has been hard and fighting with Isla over petty things is the last thing I want to do.Before Alpha Ezra and his entourage left, he told Zane that he would be returning in a week's time so that Isla's future in the Pack would finally be decided.Ziarre's funeral is in three days an
