“Children, this is Carol and she's come to play with us today.” The woman introduces.
They come closer and all seem to be fascinated by Carol’s beauty, marveling at her gorgeous curly hair and pretty green eyes.
“Hi! I’m Tommy. Do you wanna be friends?” A boy with freckles asks, grinning widely.
Carol looks at me, unsure, and I step in. “Yes, Carol would love to be your friend.
She can’t speak so she won't be able to answer your questions but she's very nice and she loves to play just like you.”
Another girl with pigtails reaches out to touch Carol’s hair. “Wow, your hair is so pretty! I’m Lily. Do you want to play with us, Carol?”
Carol’s eyes light up, and she signs her name. The children look confused, so I explain, “She’s saying her name is Carol. Can you all say ‘Hi, Carol’?”
