CHAPTER 40: GO GET HER!

Oliver's POV

The bodies were falling from the towers and from the horses that bounded prematurely. Blood spilled in the dirt and shadowed the fortress walls. As our shields went up, so did the spears and arrows that shot in our direction before being taken out by the warriors we left at the perimeter.

"Stay at my side!" I ordered Jamela. "Go get her!" She demanded of me before I was attacked at the side. "GO!" Jamela demanded before throwing off the rogue that thought he bested me.

I trudged through the crowd fighting off massive rogues with red eyes and a stench that reeked of the dead. Alexis was nowhere in sight.

"This way!" Jamela said leading the way. "Her scent," I said finally catching on. "Mate!" My wolf whimpered at the smell of her blood.

She's undoubtedly hurt. The scent took us in the direction of the kitchen.

"THERE!" Jamela shouted through our mate link.
