Chapter Two

                    Implicative Dream

"Father Antoine" I called and Father Antoine lifted his head up from the Bible he's reading.

"What's it Susan?" He asked and I hesitated for a minute before I started talking about what's on my mind.

" You know, you said I should always tell you about my dreams" I started with a bit of nervousness.

" Yes it will help me deliver you from the demon faster. Do you have any dreams?" He asked and I immediately gained the courage that was fading away gradually back.

" Yes father, I had a dream last night" I reply

" How about it? Tell me about it"

" Father , I saw you having sex with madam Lily in my dream last night" I said and father Antoine eyes pops out of their sockets. He removes his glasses and stares at me with a mixed expression. I tried to read the expression on his face and couldn't get it right but it's either he's surprised or angry.

" Really....!?" He said and I don't even know if it's a question or exclamation but the look on his face looks totally different from the one he has been wearing three months ago or is it because the dream I had is about him and madam Lily? That I don't know.

" Yes father Antoine" I reply, not taking my eyes off him with the rosary hanging in my hand.

" For the first time, I see what your family has been complaining about. You're truly possessed by a demon." Father Antoine Antoine yelled furiously and jumped out of my chair. Why did he have to tell me so furiously that way? I was only doing what he asked me to do and carrying out his orders.

"Father!" I called jumping up from my chair.

He walked towards me like a tiger who just saw his prey and I shifted back until my back hit the wall.

" You little brat," he said, grabbing my hair and I cried out in pain. Why is he so angry with me? I only tell him nothing but the truth. It's a vision and I told him as expected of me, so what have I done wrong here.

" Father you're hurting me" I cried out hoping he would release his grip on my hair but no, instead he tightened his grip on my hair and hit my head on the wall and cried out so loud in pain.

" You're nothing but a bunch of idiots filled with demonic spirits," he said, dragging my head so hard.

" Let go of me! You're hurting me" I cried and he hit my head on the wall and I felt blood gushing out from different angles.

" Father you're hurting me, I only did what you asked me to do. Please let me go" I pleaded in tears as I felt my hair pulling out of my skull one after the other.

" Now listen to me, I'm stripping you of your respect. " He said with gritted teeth and I felt my strength leaving me gradually.

" What do you mean by that?" I asked, wincing in pain as I tried to free myself from his tight grip on my hair. Have you ever had your hair pulled? If yes you would understand the pain I'm going through right now but if you haven't, I suggest you get someone to do that for you.

" From now henceforth, you're nothing but a slave in this house" he said and I felt my heart leave my chest and hang in my throat.

' what a slave?' I asked myself silently with a heavy heart.

"Why ? Why are you doing this to me all of a sudden?" I couldn't help but ask, I don't really think I have done anything wrong by telling him about my dreams.

" I'm doing this because you are not different from the demonic spirit that possessed you. You're worse than the demonic spirit itself" he said, releasing his grip from my hair and I fell to the ground. I don't think I understand any of his words. How can I be worse than the demonic spirit everyone believes that possessed me. I really don't don't understand why I should be worse than the demon by telling him my dreams. Am I the one that told him to sleep with madam Lily in my dream? I really don't see any reason why I should become a slave for telling the father my dream.

Life is really cruel. If only you knew how people change quickly, you wouldn't have put all your hope in them. Then you will know the heart of man is wicked and not all that glitters are gold. If anyone tells me that Father Antoine, who has been nice to me all this while, will treat me this way, I will say it's a lie.

I sat on the floor with blood dripping down from my head and my face. I was expecting father Antoine to call for the ambulance or take me to the nearest medical centre but I was wrong, completely wrong. Father Antoine sat there in his seat and watched me bleed to death.

"From today henceforth, your freedom have been limited, you are a slave and you shall suffer till eternity. You shall feed from the doves leftovers and you shall drink from the mud. " He said, folding his sleeves that were stained with my blood and tears streamed down my cheeks.

" Father please" I begged

" Father please don't do this to me, please father! " I pleaded in tears as I creeped to where he's sitting and grabbed his leg under the chair.

" Don't touch me with your dirty hands " he smirked and pushed away my hands with his leg.

" Father please" I pleaded and he stood up and kicked me away with his foot as he walked out of his office. Just like that without any reason, without no offense I end up being a slave. Just because of a dream I had , I was ripped off the respect I had.

Beginning of slaveryThere are times when life looks so bleak, you can’t see the windows. This was exactly how I was feeling at this moment. It’s been three days; Three days of constant abuses and pain, with nothing to make me feel slightly better. Father Antione has become my nightmare, and every single day, I wonder what I had done wrong to deserve such hatred. It literally beats my imagination, and I’m really worried sick about it. My family had left me for dead, at the most delicate part of my life. I said dead because this was becoming a nightmare. I preferred my old life to this. “Susan!” Father Antione’s voice rang out. “Father!” I responded just as hard. I picked myself up from the dirt ground that had served as my room for months, and walked to the living room. Father Antione was one of the fathers that received visits in his house, as a way to cleanse people of their sins. And, today was no exception. Seated in the parlour were seven

Living father AnthonyThe next day, I was really looking glum. I got up by 7pm, and brushed my teeth using charcoal and water from the tap at the side of my house. I was really looking forward to getting out of here, and moving to the place I was set for. Though I didn’t know where I was going, but it felt so good to have a hope for the better life. I stepped into the house from the back, and entered the room I’d been allocated, only to jump out of my skin on seeing Father Antione’s back turned to me. He had never come in here all through my stay. So, what was he doing here? “Good day, sir,” I greeted as I stepped further into the room. He turned around to face me, his face strangely bereft of malice. I was so used to him looking at me with cold eyes, that seeing him without one was mildly unnerving. “I wanted to talk to you,” he said easily. I blinked twice at the formality of it all. It wasn’t in his books to be formal, at least, not

There are times I felt a glimpse of hope, and this was one of those times. I was finally leaving this place. And, maybe it wasn’t permanent because I would be back during the holidays, but it would surely give me some reprieve.
Without saying my goodbye, I stepped into the bus that would take me to my new world. A glance at Father Antione showed that he was red in the face. Was he expecting me to be all merry towards him? No, that’s never going to happen. If he wanted to save face in the public, he should have done the right thing. I looked forward, waiting anxiously for the bus to move. I didn’t want to think about anything. I wanted to have a new life, and I was going to have that.
A couple of people came into the bus. They would be dropping along the way, so it was nice. A chubby teenager sat beside me, picking his teeth and gassing without a care. I had the undeniably urge to change my seat, but I knew I wasn’t going to be allotted that pleasure, so I slumped into my seat.

I was safe. “Here it is,” he exclaimed. I walked closer to him, and watched his long finger tap a spot in the book. It took me awhile for me to note my name scribbled in messy handwriting across the the pages. “That’s my name,” I sad stupidly. He looked at me in amusement. “Of course, it’s your name. Come on, let’s take you to your room,” he said softly. I looked back at the door, as worry ate at me. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. Won’t the management get upset if I find my way to my room without completing any formalities. I don’t wish to take a risk,” I said calmly. Tyler snapped the book shut, and then walked towards my bag. A couple of seconds passed before he grabbed the bag off the ground. Someone repeatedly shook me by the shoulders. I sighed in response to it. I didn’t want any unnecessary stress at this point, but this person wouldn’t stop. I turned sideways in frustration. “Go away. I want to sleep,” I said dryly. “No sleep on the first day of school. Come on, get up!” The girl snapped. I quickly opened my eyes, as my heart raced. If I did something wrong, I could get punished. And… “Susan, breathe. It’s just me,” the voice sounded. My eyes flicked to the voice, and I watched as Bethany looked at me in panic. I swallowed hard. It was just Bethany. There was no-one trying to harm me here. I was safe. “I… You shouldn’t have done that. You scared me so much,” I said quietly. Bethany smiled at me sadly. “You scared me too. Is this your first time of staying away from home? There is nothing to worry about. I wouldn’t let anything happen to you, roomie. Plus, the students are harmless here. They would do nothing to you. We are a tight bunch,” she said with a smile.

CHAPTER EIGHTThere was something that I didn’t seem to understand. Tyler’s appearance made my friends to pull away from me without a backward glance, and that was slightly creepy. I couldn’t get why they would leave. I looked at Bethany, in hope to bring her attention to me, but she was looking away from me, and talking animatedly to Lily. It was mildly off-putting and I had to look back at Tyler to ease off the panic I felt. He was still looking at me with an unreadable intensity. “Hi,” I said softly. He leaned on the wall. “Hi.” No words passed between us, as we looked at each other. His hands lightly touched my bag, trailing it with his fingers, with his eyes fixed on my face. “I see, you’ve settled in nicely,” he said softly. His words seemed to have some double meaning that I couldn’t quite grasp. My cheeks warmed as I looked up at him.
