Chapter 319

As soon as Noelle woke up in the morning, she called Quentin. He said he'd be there for her whole exam, but it didn't look like he could make it now. Nevertheless, she still held out a glimmer of hope.

"My exams are coming up soon, Quentin. Could you come along with me?" she asked, feeling a little nervous. Noelle really wanted him to be there for her. Plus, the traffic would be horrible that day, and she wasn't a very good driver. She hoped he could give her a ride.

Quentin glanced at the patient in the ICU, hooked up to all sorts of machines, and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Elle, but I can't go with you right now. I'll ask Martin to take you."

Disappointment surged within Noelle. She really wanted to tell him that she was his wife and that he should be here with her right now. Yet, she knew better than to compete with someone who was battling a terminal illness.
