It’s Saturday in the afternoon and the sky is cloudy and it’s raining heavily and Mirabelle is already lost in thought thinking about how to continue her education because she has to drop out in school because her stepdad did not want her to be ahead of his children and he had to stop her from going to school, she stood in the kitchen washing the dishes because she has has been the one doing all the chores in the house and she heard a voice of her stepdad yelling her name “ Mirabelle! Mirabelle! Mirabelle!” Her stepdad called her three times by her name as he yells and Mirabelle quickly drop the dishes she was washing and she quickly cleans her tears and she ran to him to answer.

“ Dad! You called for me” she says and her step dad yells at her.

“ I am not your dad and I can never be your dad, I have told you to step calling me dad” he says and he yells at her and her step brother Martins cough as he lay down in the couch because he is hill.

“ You are still my dad! I can’t call you by your name” she says and her step dad hit her on the face hard and tears fell from her eyes and her step sister Rita smiled when I her dad hit Mirabelle.

“ You should go to your mum’s shop and you should tell her to give you some money so you can get medicine for Martins now, you should go now” he says and he yells at her and Mirabelle was still standing and Rita yells at her.

“ What are you still waiting for?” Rita ask and Mirabelle was still shedding tears and it’s raining heavily outside.

“ Can I go later? It’s raining heavy outside” she says and her stepdad yells at her again and tears continuing role out of her eyes and she left, she stood at the doorstep staring at heavy rain and she has no choice than to enter the rain and go to her mum’s shop or else her stepdad with punish her for it and on her way to her mum’s shop with the heavy rain falling on her on her rough hair and her oversized faded skirt and t- shirt she was wearing she flashed black on how she lost her dad when she was five years old and how her stepdad has been treating her for so many years even her step sister hate her so much and stepdad has never like her, only her mum and her step brother who cares about her and she cleans her tears walks to her mum’s shop to get some money to buy some médecine for her Martins. Her mum sell at the roadside to fend for the family and her stepdad is a useless man and he is not ready to search for a job since he lost his job many years ago and Mirabelle in tears already lost in thought and she was walking in the middle of the road and a car was coming from the behind and was about to hit her and Mirabelle gets shocked and she stood in the middle of the road with tears in her eyes and the person in the car is Ray Bintang and he is Billionaire and get down from the car in anger in the rain and he wonders what a young pretty lady like her is doing in this heavy rain and her cloth is wet already and he walks closer to her.

“ Are you alright?” He ask and Mirabelle face her head down.

“ Why are you walking in the middle of road? And why are in this heavy rain” He ask in anger and Mirabelle raise her head up.

“ I am sorry sir” she says and Ray notice that she is crying.

“ Are you ok?” He ask.

“ Yes, I am fine” she says.

“ No, you don’t seems fine. Can I help you?” He ask.

“ No, thank you sir. I got to go now” she says and Ray tries to stop her and Mirabelle did not answer and Ray get back to his car and his phone rings and he stare at the caller’s ID and his is dad calling and he pick up the call.

“ Dad! I am on way back to city of Lagos, I need to attend to a meeting, I am sorry I will not able to stay to see the land you want to process” he says.

“ So if I didn’t call, you will not bother to inform me” his dad says.

“ I am sorry dad but it’s urgent” he says.

“ Fine, then. I will also be leaving to the city by tomorrow” his dad says.

“ Alright dad, see you tomorrow” he says and he ends the call and he remembered about Mirabelle and then he drove off.

Mirabelle got to the spot her mum always sell at the road side and the rain has already stop and her mum saw her and she wonders why she is enters the heavy rain coming to her place.

“ Dear! What are you doing here and why are your cloth wet?” Her mum ask.

“ Forget about it mum” she says.

“ Why would you tell me to forget about it? What are you doing here?” Her mum ask.

“ Dad! I mean your husband sent me to come here and collect some money from you” she says.

“ Why can’t you wait till the rain stop before you come?” Her mum ask.

“ Mum! You are asking so many questions like you do not know your husband so well more than I do, you know how he always treat me, he ask me to come to your place in the heavy rain without even caring about my health, I wonder when all this will stop mum, I can’t further my education just because of he, I am fed up mum, I wonder why you remarry to that wicked man, only you and Martins cares about me and Rita she hate me so much like we are not sisters from the mother” she says and tears fall from her mum’s eyes.

“ I regret marrying this man, only if I knew that he fooled me by helping you and I years back just to get married to me, I won’t have accepted” her mum says and Mirabelle cries and she step her mum from crying.

“ It’s fine mum, it’s not your fault mum” she says and she clean her tears.

“ By the way, why did he ask you to come here?” Her mum ask.

“ He said ask me to collect some money from you to buy drugs for Martins” she says and her mum wonders what is wrong with Martins.

“ What is wrong with Martins? Is he fine?” Her mum ask.

“ Yes mum! He is fine, it’s just that he has been coughing so hard since you left for road side sales” she says and her mum brings out some money from purse and she hand over to her.

“ Take this and take it to your father, you should go fast before he start yelling at you again” her mum says.

“ Sure mum” she says and Mirabelle left.
