The wolves were undisturbed by her judgment, of course. In our world, the death of an enemy was little more than triumph. But I knew what that meant to her—how dark she must have gone in her mind to have made that decision, and I ached for her.

I rushed after her—she was plowing through the wolves towards the door, her gait rolling because her body ached so badly. But her jaw set with determination.

I grabbed her hand as I caught up with her, and sent a rush of love in the bond.

‘Don’t second guess yourself. You were right.’

‘I don’t care. Death is never a good answer, Cazz.’

‘No, never
