My head was swimming as I attempted a quick power instruction with Jesse through the link while also mingling with men and one by one pairing them off with our females. Most stayed in the lounge to drink and talk first, but I eyed our guards, making certain no female entered a room or alcove without a male nearby who could hear through the doors and could assist if she was overwhelmed or endangered.

I was sweating though. I’d tried two more times to touch the Governor with the weaves, and failed twice. I tried to play it down to Jesse, keeping her attention on the others that were growing loose from alcohol or drugs and were easily manipulated. But any man could be a threat, and the substances made them less predictable. There was no solace, even when they followed my instructions without any resistance.
