Asher pov
I stood there, dumbfounded, my eyes scanning in every direction for the minutest trace of the mysterious figure; he had vanished into nowhere.
I shook my head, trying to put together what was happening. First were the revelations of what Sophia had been into-the stuff sent my head reeling-and then, all of a sudden, here is this figure who just materialized and then in almost a single instant, poof.
I looked down at the folder still clutched in my hand, the documents inside showing some real shockers about Sophia's actions. I knew I needed to confront her, but some part of me just wouldn't take action.
Maybe it was just some kind of setup. Maybe Sophia was totally innocent, and this phantom figure wanted me to think otherwise?
Shrugging off my doubts, I went up to my hotel room with my mind swimming in questions and doubts. The minute I stepped into that room, there sat Sophia upon the bed, more innocent than one human mind can fathom.
But I knew a thing or two about her innocent act. Beyond that innocent cover-up, something lay hidden. And I was right there to find out just that.
"Sophia, we have to talk," I said firmly and coolly to her.
She looked at me with her gaze upwards; the expression showed the slightest shade of curiosity: "What is this, asher?"
I had to take one deep breath in anticipation of a hot and perhaps uncontrollable clash. "I know what you have been doing, Sophia. I know about the money of the pack and how you use it for financing your very own empire."
But her face didn't change; I did catch something glinting in her eyes, though-guilt, perhaps, or fear.
Innocence dripped from her voice, as she asked. "What do you mean, asher?"
I wasn't buying that, and she knew what happened-she would pay for lying to me.
I stepped a step closer to her, my gaze set right into her eyes. "No game-playing with the amnesia trick for me, Sophia," I warned her now, since hardness laced every word. "I have proof, know about all of the secret accounts, the shell companies, wild spending-you stole from the pack for years. It's done, finished now." Sophia slitted her eyes as if spitting on me was nothing. "You'll never be able to prove it.".
I smiled-cold, calculated. "Oh, I think I will," I said, pulling out the folder and slapping it onto the bed beside her. "You see, I have documents, records, and testimony from someone who's been watching you from behind the scenes. You're not as slick as you thought you were, Sophia."
The face of Sophia had whitened; her eyes scoured the papers in the file. For a moment, she was taken aback and did not really know what she should do further.
Then her face contorted, and her eyes flared up with anger. "You'll never bring me down, asher," she snarled in a thick hoarse voice. "I have too many secrets, too many allies. You'll never be able to touch me."
I laughed. It was cold, mirthless. "We'll see about that," I said, reaching into my jacket for my phone and dialing a number. "You see, Sophia, I have been preparing for this moment for a very long time. And now it's time to take you down."
The words still hung in the air when the door to the hotel room burst open, a team of pack enforcers surging inside to surround Sophia and take her into custody.
Her eyes flashed to mine, spewing detestation and venom. "This isn't over, asher," she spat as enforcers hauled her off.
A cold, triumphant smile stretched across my face. "Oh, I think it is," I said, watching as Sophia was taken away, her empire crumbling around her.
I've got to find this out when I return to town. But my mind could not be stopped from spinning-there was one thing which set all things at rest: the concept of Aurora, finding her, talking over things.
I got out of my room onto hers. At her door, I stood composing my words. I was about to knock when the hotel attendees walked to me.
"Good day sir. What is wrong?" she asked, her mouth woven by a big smile.
"Oh, sorry. But I am looking for the lady who is in this room, Miss Aurora, right? I'm a friend, so don't worry," I told her with a smily forcing its presence.
"Okay, but sorry sir, she checked out of this hotel this morning," she also said, mimicking the act of smiling still.
"Oh, damn," the falling of the face was obvious, like somebody plunged a heavy hammer on my head.
"Oh, is something wrong?" she asked, sounding conciliatory.
"Oh, no, nothing. Thank you," was my reply with my quelled, tight smile on.
"Okay, if you need anything, just say it," she tried to make eye contact which I forbade her from having.
"Actually, I want. can you please give me her address? I think all of us mentioned it when booking the room," I said after taking a deep breath.
"Oh, actually, sir, I can't give that to you. Hotel policy, if you can understand, for the safety of our customers," she added this time, forcing a bright smile.
"I understand," I said, looking down in disappointment as I walked away.
My phone rang. I picked it up, and it was my personal assistant.
"Sir, our flight is ready back home. I shall send a car to the airport to pick you up back where I would meet," a low tone buzzed on the other side of my call.
I nodded, even though I knew she couldn't see me. "Okay, thank you; I'll be ready."
I hung up and took a deep breath, shaking off the disappointment of not being able to find Aurora. I needed to focus on how to get back home and the situation awaiting me with Sophia.
The thoughts about Aurora-just would not stop: was she, too, in on it with Sophia, or was that a genuine coincidence?
All these thoughts apart, I began to pack my luggage in order to leave for home. Right on time, at the right minute, came my assistant-sent car and whisked me to the airport.
A feeling of loss, that I was leaving something behind, overcame me as I boarded the plane. And in my head, the mystic presence of Aurora would not stop showing; it came to my mind if ever again I set my eyes on her.
The flight was rather smooth, uneventful, but within my mind, the presence of Sophia and Aurora, what was next in the schedule with the pack. Finally, we landed, and my assistant met me with a gloomy expression.
"Sir, we have a situation," she said, walking me in the general direction of my car. "Sophia's followers are rallying, and from all indications, it looks as if they are going to try something on against you."
I nodded grimly, my head racing with stratagems and counter moves. Time to get on top and protect my pack.
Asher povOn the way to my mansion, my assistant was informing me about what had taken place. Explaining it in detail, she said Sophia had been brooding in quietness, just to solidify her support among the ranks in members to bring me down.I growled with building growing anger: How could Sophia do this to our pack? Where does she place the interest of our people? The air grew thick with tension as I approached headquarters. Pack members were huddled together, speaking among themselves.I steeled myself for the coming fight and took a deep breath. I wasn't going to let Sophia's actions tear our pack apart.I got out of the car and began to walk towards headquarters with my assistant. The curious and hostile gazes turned to me as we entered the building.I tuned them out-mentally set my focus on what lay ahead of me. I needed to get in, speak with the pack, reassure them as to my position, reassure them that I remained pack leader and the commitment within remained strong. But before r

How can she lie to me and manipulate the elders?By this time, we were at Sophia's quarters. I pushed the door open and stepped in. She lay on the bed; white, almost weakened. But then I knew how great an actor she was; one way or another, anyone would yield for her. "Sophia," I rasped, sounding low and forbidding. "We gotta talk."She looked up at me, a weak smile on her face. "Asher," she whispered. "I'm so glad you're here. I have been feeling so unwell."I snarled; all my anger boiled then. "Don't play games with me, Sophia," I spat. "I know about your little scheme, the way you
Asher pov Just when I was deep in thought, my phone rang. Upon looking at my phone screen, it was my mother. "What does she want?" I murmured in frustration."Hello," her voice was heavy on the other side of the phone, as I picked up the call."Yes, Mother. I am with you," I said, followed by a deep breath."What is this I'm hearing, Sophia again?" she asked, sounding worried and curious. "One of the elders just called, and with what he was telling me, he said Sophia is pregnant. How is it possible?""I understand you, Mother," I said, shaking my head in disappointment. "Even I am also confused about it.""What is it you are confused about?" she asked, sounding angry. "Isn't she your luna? You suppose to know all about this.""Mother, Sophia is very difficult to understand," I said, scratching my head in confusion. Asher pov As the tension was beginning to get intense I waited patiently for Sophia's response, in order to know the next step of what to do. I watched the clock as minutes turned into hours, with every tick of the clock giving me a heartbeat, my curiosity increasing. Finally, the maid came back, and as my curiosity couldn't allow me to stand and watch her come to me, I walked up to her."Any news?" I asked, my eyes widened in curiosity."Yes, my alpha," the maid said, bowing her head. "She accepted without hesitation.""Without hesitation?" I asked, standing there in shock. "That means she didn't even argue?"The maid just nodded, still with her head down."Wow, this is new," I said. "Thank you, you can go."I nodded for her to take her leave. I watched her take leave, with my mind occupied with worries. Could Sophia be telling the truth? Could she be truly pregnant?I didn't go and meet her all through the night, as I slept in another quarters. It was the break of dawn, and I was a
Aurora’s POV. I walked out of the hospital with the paper in my hand. I had to walk towards a vacant seat which was designed for patients in the hospital to sit and receive fresh air. I sat slowly, as I opened the paper with trembling hands, and glanced through it. Slowly, the look on my face was replaced with that of shock. “What?” I thought as I glanced all over the paper for the umpteenth time. “I’m pregnant,” I thought with wide eyes, wondering why I became pregnant now. I became confused if it was possible to let my husband know or if I could hide it from him. “Asher wouldn’t be happy about this, I’m so sure about it,” I said to myself, still glancing at the paper before I slowly folded it back and returned it to the envelope. I decided to walk home slowly so I could also sort my thoughts. Staying in a marriage where I didn’t feel loved was enough to shatter my heart every day, but I still didn’t have the right to leave. Asher just hated me because the moon goddess fate
Aurora’s POV. I wiped my eyes, as I stood up slowly, walking out of her presence. I headed to the kitchen so I could find somewhere to fix myself in, but there were a good number of maids busy in the kitchen, so I sought within myself to check the hall. “I could help with the decorations,” I thought, and quickly walked to the hall. There weren’t a lot of people there, so I quickly went to assist the servants in decorating the hall. A servant was with a ribbon, and I took the ribbon so I could design it just the way she was doing hers, but was beyond shocked when the servant shoved me. I glared at the lady to know if she did it by mistake, but I was taken aback when she mocked me. She said, “I always wonder why our competent Alpha brought a mute like you as our Luna, and I’ve always tried my best to avoid you. I just don’t know why you keep showing your face in our business,” A servant said, and I knew deep down that I wasn’t going to take that one. I straightened my posture an
Aurora’s POV. I stared at myself in the mirror, and a light smile crept on my lips as the rays of the morning sun shone directly on my face. I was preparing to go to work at the cafe as usual as I hummed a song and walked out of my room heading out of the mansion. I walked to the cafe which wasn’t far from where the mansion was and met Nora, cleaning with a bright smile on her face. I smiled to myself as I thought, “Such a nice boss,” “Hey welcome Aurora,” She called out the moment she saw me with a bright smile that I returned with a nod. I stood in one corner with my gaze on Nora as I admired her. Nora was such a beautiful lady, that at times, I was often mesmerized by her appearance. I kept on admiring her with a smile on my face as I remembered things Nora had done for me. She has constantly supported me, even when I had no one. She was like the big sister I never had, as she always shielded me from unnecessary troubles. She is the only one who cares about me and I reall
AURORA’S POV. I batted an eyelid open slowly when I began to take cognizance of my surroundings. I looked around, and before I knew it, the unique smell of the hospital rushed past my nostrils and I instantly knew where I was. My head banged slightly, and I tried to sit up hoping I could remember what had happened to me and why I was lying in the hospital bed. “Oh, you’re awake,” I heard the familiar voice of Nora, and I quickly looked in the direction the voice came from to see Nora rushing towards me. “Are you okay?”“I was worried sick about you.”“Are you feeling pains anywhere?”She bombarded me with questions and a light smile crept on my lips. It felt nice to see that someone cared about me. I slowly shook my head, and she sucked her teeth before looking around like she was in search of something and quickly went to her bag to bring out a notepad. “Tell me what happened,” She said, as she stretched forth the notepad to me, wearing a sad smile. “What happened? How did e

Asher povMorning light crept inside the room, the passion of the previous night still fresh. I woke with a pounding headache-the remnants of the hangover still there. Lying beside me was Sophia, and a sly smile grew on her lips."Good morning, my alpha," she whispered, very low and seductive.I rubbed my temples, trying to ease the pain. "What was last night all about?" I asked, my voice filled with confusion and curiosity.Sophia took a deep breath before responding. "I'm the luna, and I know what my alpha needs at any given time."I raised an eyebrow, incredulous. "Sophia, I know that, but your behavior last night was unlike you. You didn't use protection or your pregnancy prevention pills. What's your game in all of this?"Sophia's smile never wavered. "Don't start this morning, asher. I know you enjoyed the passion, and I did too. Let's not spoil the moment. And if you're not satisfied, we have plenty of time this morning."I caught her hand, which was reaching to touch my chest.

She was out to have it with me over something, and from the look in her eyes, it was not going to be pretty. "Sophia, what is wrong?" I tried to stall. But she would have none of that. "Don't play dumb with me, asher," she said in a low, even tone. "I know all about your little infatuation with Aurora."Saying that, my guiltiness surged into my feelings, but I did the best to hold myself poised. Asher pov I stood there with a pen, waiting for her to write. She could not talk, since she was mute, but her notepad served as her way to communicate. But it stayed shut, and her pen was tight in her grip."Come on, write something," I said, looking at the notepad. "Tell me if you agree."Yet she just stood still, not moving, as the wind softly rustled the leaves."Alright, I'll wait," I said, reaching for her hands, which she pulled away.Taking a deep breath, she turned and walked off, her head lowered. I was left with many thoughts racing in my mind. After she had walked some way, she glanced back at me, her face showing irritation. The event started, and a speaker went up to the front. "Good evening, everyone. She grew her company from nothing to one of the best in the field. Ladies and gentlemen, please

I stood there for some minutes, then gained some courage to go talk to her."At least, what is the worst that might happen? And again, I just want to apologize about what happened earlier with Sophia. Even if the two of them are feeling so proud to apologize to each other, it's the best I could do after all, because of me, they both quarreled earlier," as I said to myself. As I walked towards her, I could still sense some kind of fear in me."Good day, Aurora," I greeted with a deep breath. she nooded as she looked so confused and kind of angry."No!
