Chapter 1 - Pamela

I knew that coming to Yale would be different than if I’d stayed in Georgia to attend the University of Georgia. I’m still a Bulldog since they both have it as their mascot. I chose Yale because of its archeology program, history, and the opportunity to live somewhere far from my family. Not that anyone but my parents and maybe Beth care in the slightest that I’m almost a thousand miles away.

If I’d gone to the University of Georgia, I would’ve had something more than dad’s DNA in common with my oldest four siblings. That’s not a reason to pass up this chance. Attending the same school they did wouldn’t suddenly make us close. I’m their sister.

Correction: I’m their half-sister, as they are always quick to point out if we’re at a family event and someone calls me their sister. Yeah, that used to hurt when I was little. All I wanted was for them to like me back then. Break my heart enough times it becomes immune and unfeeling towards you.
