The Demon's Claim - Intro
The following chapters are the short story The Demon's Claim. In this short story, we will see events from Pamela Batista and Malcolm Dawson's points of view. This means we'll see what happened that even Hana and the stooges didn't witness.
Pamela Batista: There are two things I've wanted to find. The first is that humans aren't alone in the universe. Second, a chunk just for me. Malcolm Dawson checks all the boxes on my chunk list. I didn't realize he would also be the link to intelligent life beyond the human race. If I weren't thrilled by this revelation, I would be terrified to learn demons, angels, vampires, and werewolves are real.
Malcolm Dawson: As a cambion, hybrid demon, Aidan McCabe was the only pureblood to treat me like I belonged. And while I am always willing to help him, involving Pam in whatever he and his friends are doing is going too far. She's different from other girls, and I won't let him put her in danger.

It’s my senior year. This is going to be my best year at Yale. I got named rugby captain and vice president at DKE. I’m more excited about being captain because I know I earned it alone. When I’d given up a chance to hook up with Malcolm to check on her, she’d been vague, saying a guy named Aidan had been hitting on her, and while, at first, she was flattered, she quickly stopped being and left. She’d apologized and said she owed me for making me feel I had to choose a night of fun with Malcolm or checking on her. Then I found out days later that the guy was, in fact, my archeology teacher, Professor McHottie, I mean McCabe. I couldn’t fathom how anyone could suddenly not be flattered at him flirting. I felt bad when I invited Pam to the party and even eagerly extended the invitation to her roommate, Hana. It’s not that I didn’t want Pam to come. Take that as dirty as you want. It felt underhanded to ensure she would bring Hana so Aidan could attempt to fix whatever went wrong that night at the club and every time he’d seen her since. He hadn’t explained anything to me. I only knew Hana had been dodging him for weeks. I admit that’s truly impressive. In all the years I’ve known Aidan, I’ve never seen a woman go out of her way to avoid him.
