First, thank you for giving this book a chance. Telling this story was a fast, wild and crazy ride for me, and I can only hope that Lisa and Kayden will be characters that stay with you for a long time. I enjoyed writing this book, but I would love to know if you enjoyed reading it. Your reviews and votes are highly appreciated.
Second, during my marathon of writing this book, I curated a special playlist just for this book, and just for you.PLAYLIST:About Love - MarinaAnyone - Justin BieberLove me like you do - Ellie GouldingOnly Everything - Quinn LewisShelter - FINNEASWolves - Selena Gomez ft MarshmelloWar of Hearts - RuelleLost Without you - Freya RidingsTime after Time - Sam SmithWe are in this Together Now - Loving CaliberI hope you enjoy the songs in this playlist just as much as I enjoyed listening to them as I wrote this book.Once again, thank you.(✷‿✷)"I am going to whip your ass Lisa!" Kayden shouts, nudging me with his arm. His fingers are punching hard and fast on the buttons of his PS console, trying to knock me out of the game.I scoff. "We will see about that."My fingers move faster on my buttons, playing hard not to be defeated by Kayden. I am never one to back down from a challenge, and Kayden knows this, hence the reason why he is still nudging me with his arm and trying to distract me. His cologne is not helping matters, and I curse myself for even thinking about how sexy his cologne smells."Boom!" Kayden shouts, throwing his console to the rug and jumping up to his feet. It is just a split second, but I feel my heart stop when 'GAME OVER' shows on the screen, broadcasting my defeat.Oh fuck me! Not again! Why can't I just get my shit together whenever I am around Kayden?!Kayden sticks out his tongue at me, whining his muscled waist in that sexy way that just reminds me of a fucking hot stripper. Gosh! The V-line of hi
Lisa's back is faced to me. I catch the familiar scent of her brown hair, and for a moment, I forget how to breathe. Her hair always smells like fresh spring water with a mix of vanilla. Right now, it is tied up in a messy bun. My eyes follow the free strands of her hair as they cascade down to her neck. The skin of her neck is so fair and smooth. A black dotted birth mark sits pretty on the right side of her neck, tempting me so bad to kiss her there. And to kiss her on every other part of her body.I want to kiss her on the lips, and tell her that I love her. But I know Lisa. She will walk out of my house, and she will never speak to me in the same way again."Kayden?"Her voice trails into my thoughts like a melody. And also like a warning.'This is the voice of the woman you can't have. So keep your feelings to yourself Kayden.'I cough, partly to clear the annoying voice in my head, and partly to tell Lisa that I heard her call my name. I bring out the diamond necklace from the bo
Kayden's black BMW drives into a resort, and true to my ever unmistakable guts, I sharply inhale the scent of fresh air and moist breeze. There must be water nearby. My thoughts are confirmed when Kayden turns his car off and I hear the distant crashing of water waves. We alight from the car, and Kayden throws his key to the valet, who catches it."Steve, please take good care of my car.""Okay sir." The fair Steve replies, wearing a bright smile over his chubby face. I can't seem to be able to shake off the feeling that he is just a high school grad who got lucky with getting a valet job in a luxury resort like this.Anyway, his smile is so bright. And so cute.Kayden and I begin to walk towards the door entrance of the resort, and I start to feel worried that Sandra has not even sent me a text or even called me since this morning. We talked just fine yesterday, but why is she suddenly MIA today?Today, of all days? Today that is my birthday?I know her fashion design job is taking q
I am surprised to find Ethan standing beside Kayden, his dark brown eyes scrutinizing Sandra and me. He coughs loudly again, as if to tell us for certain that he was the one that coughed before.I roll my eyes. "Ethan, relax. It is not like I am trying to steal your girlfriend or something."He simply smiles, showing off his sparkling white teeth. "Lisa, even if you wanted to, it won't be possible, because she is already mine.""Awww." Sandra blushes, and I roll my eyes again when the both of them lean towards each other. I know what is coming, so I look away.I hear the smooching of their lips, and for some funny reason, I start to feel goosebumps all over my skin. Their raspy sounds also feels like I am listening to some intimate moans echoing right from a porn video. This should be normal. I mean, Ethan and Sandra kiss around Kayden and I all the time, but right now, with Kayden's body just about two meters away from my goosebumped skin, I find myself begging in my heart of hearts
Sandra and Ethan are kissing and giggling, obviously lost in their own world. I avert my eyes from them and stare out at the distant figure of the woman I love, watching as the wind whips through her long hair and her strapless floral dress.God she is beautiful. She is just so beautiful. My heart tugs with guilt. I know something was wrong immediately she said she wanted to go see the beach. I mean nothing is wrong with her wanting to see the beach. It is just that, the way she said it feels like something is bothering her, and I am kind of feeling bad that I am still seated here while she is over there, thinking about only God-knows-what."Hey guys, uhm, I will be right back." I announce to the kissing duo, standing up from my chair. They just hum in response, quite busy with their lips and hands on each other. God, help me. I feel so oppressed by them.I grab my phone and a bottle of water from the table before I leave. The air smells more fresh and feels more moist to the skin as
My fingers run through my hair as I settle down on one of the bar stools. I rest my elbows on the countertop, closing my eyes and taking in a deep breath. Was I dreaming? Or did I really feel Kayden's lips on my head? Why was his heart beating so much? Is he worried about something?"Hey." A deep male voice interrupts my thoughts. I lift up my head and nearly miss a heartbeat when my eyes stumble upon the face of a very handsome guy who is nearly the replica of Regé Jean-Page.Wait. Forget that I said that name. Or you know what? Fuck it. We all have been members of the celebrity crush zone before. However, I still can't believe my eyes. This guy standing right in front of me can easily pass off as Regé Jean-Page's twin brother with his sexy brown eyes and perfectly shaped stubble. His nose is super angled and straight, and his short hair is so raven black. His lips, well, they are as pink as the color pink. "Hey." He calls again, snapping me out of my ridiculous assessment of him. E
My eyes must be playing with my senses, because I do not want to believe that Lisa has been here alone with a strange guy who literally looks like he wants to eat her sexy body alive. The way he is staring at her skin and also at the necklace I gifted her makes my stomach sick. He is certainly handsome, but he lacks the decency and subtlety to control his eyes from raking all over her body.Eyes that I want to dig out and feed to Ryder, my German Shepherd dog."Hey Sandra, Ethan, Kayden, meet Christian." Lisa blushes, her hand moving back and forth within the space between the three of us and this total stranger. If not for his decent looking face and fashionable clothes, I may not have even had the decency to shake his hand when he stretched it forth to me."I am really happy to finally meet you all. Lisa here said you guys did the best birthday surprise for her this year."Sandra giggles. I snap to Lisa. I can't believe my ears at what I just heard this Christian dude blurt out from
Kayden and I finally arrive at his house, his car pulling up in front of his mansion. He switches off the car's engine and we alight from the car.In silence.Throughout our drive until now, we have not said anything to each other. Not even a single word. I saw him giving me a few glances, but that was it.I wonder what is happening, but I do not like the shift in energy between us. It is like some kind of heavy tension weighing down on my mind.He opens the door of the house and we enter. We get to the sitting room and I watch him plop down on one of the long sofas. He bends his head, one of his hands rubbing over his forehead. I join him on the sofa."Hey," I call softly. "Are you alright?""Yeah. I am fine."His voice is so low and gentle, but there is a relapse in it that has me feeling anxious instead of being settled with just his response. I want to push further, but before I open my mouth, my words get caught up in my throat when Kayden's head lifts and his green emerald eyes

TWO MONTHS LATER. . . . . .Morning bliss.I flutter my eyes open, catching beams of warm sunlight spilling into the room, washing all over Kayden's breathtaking face and naked muscled back. He is lying on his stomach, one side of his face half buried into his pillow, his deep emerald eyes wide awake, staring at me.For a while, I suck in the silence of this moment, both of us not saying anything to each other. I love watching him wake up in the mornings, but today, he beat me to it.He shifts on his pillow, sprinkles of his messy hair strands coating his brows."Good morning." I mutter, reaching out to brush the hair strands off his face. "You look so fucking handsome."He smiles. "Is that a compliment or your attempt to try to fuck me?"I bite down on my lower lip, stifling a laugh. "Both."He smirks, lifting up his head from his pillow. He leans over and kisses me. Slow and soft, but yet firm. I feel the fire igniting in my veins, slowly waking up my body muscles. I grab a fistful
ONE MONTH LATER"Alright everyone! It is time. Let's do this!" Maggie shouts, smiling and clutching a big notepad in her arms. She is my second favourite cousin after Jennie. She also happens to be the planner of my wedding with Lisa, and ever since she resorted to the job of carrying around that notepad, I have been having a little bit of difficulty telling apart my 'real cousin Maggie' from the 'work alcoholic Maggie.'The fresh ocean breeze whips through the back of my hair, blowing some of it forward to my face. The beach is beautiful. Just the right choice of place for our wedding tomorrow. As my hands lift to push back the hair crowding over my face, Lisa appears by my side. Her smile is as infectious as usual on me. Her hands push back the hair strands from my face, doing what my hands wanted to do. She plants a soft kiss on my lips and stares up at me like I am the only man in the world."You are so fucking handsome you know that right?"I laugh, flagging my hand over my face.
I roll my eyes."What?" I ask.He takes in a breath, and just as I am about to ask him again why he is stopping me from eating my chicken, he pulls out a red box from the pocket of his overcoat and gets down on one knee. His hand opens the box, and I gasp at the sight of the most beautiful diamond ring I have ever seen.My chest tightens. I can't breathe. I can't even move.I snap to Sandra. "Sandra, what is happ—"The rest of my question sinks down my throat when I catch the little witch on her feet, holding her phone in an angle that just screams that she is taking pictures of us, probably even making a video too.I turn back to Kayden, gulping in a breath. His handsome face wears a smile that is doing crazy things to my head and heart and belly."What are you doing?” I croak, barely even hearing my voice.“Can't you see? I am trying to propose to you in the middle of a Chicken Grill Spot by the corner of the street."Oh. My. God.My heart pounds against my chest as he takes my left
FOUR MONTHS LATER"Sandra, it's been twenty minutes already. Are we not there yet?" I groan, looking out the window as Sandra's car flashes by various houses and road side shops.I turn my eyes back to her. "I hope this new boutique you are taking us to is worth your explanation for dragging me out of my house."She glances at me, flashing me a smile. "Come on babe. Relax."When Sandra came to my house this morning saying that she needed my help to grab some fashion pieces from a boutique she claims to be new in town, I agreed to help her. But I never knew the drive to the so called boutique will be this far.And I am getting tired."Are you sure we haven't passed the boutique?" I ask, shifting in my seat."No." She shakes her head, her fingers tapping on the steering wheel in tune to the hip-hop music playing from the car's radio.“It feels like we have been driving around in circles.” I complain. She laughs. "We are almost there. Come on Lisa. Just a few more minutes.""Alright." I
"Are you expecting someone?" Lisa asks, one of her hands placed lightly over my chest."No," I shake my head. "But I guess it is probably Sandra or Ethan or both of them."Her face lits up. "Might be true. Well, if they are the ones at the door, then I can't wait to hear how ridiculous their karaoke date went."I laugh. "Ethan can't sing shit."She chuckles a laugh. "Yeah I know that. Well, let me go che—"I place my finger on her lips, silencing her. "Stay here. I will go."I turn around and leave the kitchen, but not without hearing Lisa chirping out, "Awwnn, that is so sweet."I halt in my tracks and snap back at her. She gets the memo, but ends up laughing. I shake my head. Just then, the door bell rings again, drawing my attention. I turn back around and head to the door. After checking through the doorbell camera and seeing that it is just Sandra and Ethan, I sigh, grateful that it is not anyone from the office. My hand moves to open the door, but I hold back midway.Wait! If Sa
Sunlight fliters into the room from the windows, falling over Lisa's beautiful sleeping face. She lies on her back, calm and peaceful, her hair sprawled over the pillow as her chest rises up and down in steady quiet breaths.God, she is so beautiful. . . . . . She stirs beside me, her face that was once facing the ceiling now turned to me. Her eyes flutter open, her dark long lashes giving way to the beauty of her deep blue eyes. Her lips curve into a beautiful smile that stops my heart for a moment when she catches me staring down at her.God, I will give anything to be the only one who exclusively gets to watch her as she wakes up every morning. . . . . ."Hey," she mutters, sounding sleepy. "Good morning."I smile down at her. "Good morning."We stare at each other in silence, drinking each other in. I still can't believe that she is mine, that after all these years, I finally get to hold her and kiss her and stare at her like this without having to throw away my face every time sh
We snap back our eyes to each other, our hands still gripping the saucepan."Give me the pan Kayden. I want to wash it. You can go check the pizza before it burns."He tries to resist, but my pulling grip on the saucepan is tight. He finally succumbs, seeing how hellbent I am about being the one to wash the saucepan. Of course I can't let him do everything in this kitchen alone. As I wash the saucepan, he brings out the pizza. The aroma fills the air, and I can definitely tell that it is chicken pizza. My favorite.Done with washing the saucepan, I wipe it with the dishcloth before placing it back with the other kitchen pots and utensils. Kayden has already carried the pizza to the table at the center of the living room. Just as he walks into the kitchen to carry the tray containing the mugs of milk, I grab the tray from where it is seated on the kitchen counter. Kayden opens his mouth, probably to argue with me, but I brush past him and head into the living room, hearing his footstep
In this surreal moment, all I can see, all I can breathe, is Kayden. At first, surprise freezes my body to ice, keeping my eyes open, but then the firecracking sensations of Kayden's soft lips moving on mine begins to heat up every hair fiber of my skin. I flutter my eyes close, welcoming it, allowing myself to be lost in him and in this breathtaking kiss.I have waited for so long to feel this way, and now that it is happening, it is everything I have ever dreamed of it to be and more.He tastes like buttermint, just the same way he tasted the last time we kissed. His hands cup my cheeks as his lips continue to claim my mouth, tender but firm, moving expertly over each of my lips with insatiable fire and need, allowing me to also simultaneously taste his lips and not just one. I grip the soft material of his sleeveless shirt to support my stance as his heated lips continue to send zaps and bolts of electricity down my spine, nearly crippling me to the floor.God, this feels so good.
