Chapter 1

Melody's  Point Of View

"John hurry or we're gonna be late for the dinner" my mom yells. "Honey I can't find my tie" my dad shouts back from upstairs. 

"Women are known to be the one delaying but you are the one delaying" My mom murmurs as she stomped upstairs to help my dad look for the said tie.

After sometimes they both came down ready to go to the dinner.

"But mom, I want to go with you." I protested

"Sweetie it's an adult thing and you will get bored" my mom said trying to convince me. 

After lots of persuasion, I finally agreed to stay with our neighbor next door. 

She's a woman in her late twenties. Although she is nice but she can get boring sometimes. 

I just pick some books and my pencil and some storybooks. 

I know it's just a day but I'm a nerd and everyone knows that.

We all moved out and my mom dropped me at Alessia's after explaining the reason they are dropping me. 

Alessia was more than elated to accept me. I waited until my parent zoomed off and I waved at the car before Alessia wrapped her arm around me and guided me inside. 

I woke up immediately sweating profusely. I just had a nightmare about them again. Then I heard banging on my door.

"Get your filthy ass downstairs and prepare breakfast" my aunt banged on my door waking me up around after 5.

I groan but standing up anyways because I had no choice. I heard Natalie mumbling that her mom is disturbing her and her mom apologized. 

I'm not surprised a bit cos this my readers is how I had been living my life for good 6 years. 

This is just like the beginning 

I quickly clean up all the plates and trash the family did on the dinning table. 

I wasn't allowed to sit with the family when having my dinner. I either take the food to my room, kitchen or living room.

As far as they were concerned, I'm not a part of their family.

Natalie had gone to school with her car immediately she finished eating. 

While I had to wait till everyone finish eating and I will have to clean the dinning and wash all plates used before finally leaving for school. 

Since I didn't have a car, no one to give me a ride, no money for bus, I had to trek to school. 

This was how my morning routine goes. 

By the time I got to school, the first period was on. I entered the class and met the eyes of a furious Mrs. White 

"Ms. Trager, what excuse do you have for coming late again, you hit your head against a tree? The whole class laughed. 

"um..." I say pushing my glasses but I heard a voice "Maybe her boyfriend didn't drop her off at school" Kendall, Natalie's boyfriend or should I say playboy who is also the school bad boy said and everyone burst out laughing. 

Natalie who is sitting beside Kendall fake gasp "Didn't know the great nerd has a girlfriend" 

Everyone laughed again while I just stood at the entrance playing with my fingers nervously.

I'm not embarrassed cos this isn't the first time this is happening. I'm weirdly used to it.

"Oh My God, I bet the guy will be an ultra super mega nerd" Eleanor, Natalie's side kick said. The whole class laughed again

Now I'm getting embarrassed and equally pissed off . I didn't even think twice before opening the door and running out of the class. 

I was not surprised that Natalie, Eleanor and Kendall embarrassed me, what I am surprised about is that the teacher didn't even bother to stop them. 

I was too busy in thought that I bumped into a body. 

"Hey watch it" the person yelled 

"I'm really sorry, I'm so so sorry" I apologize.

"No, I am sorry. I was just troubled and annoyed and you bumped into me and I took the anger out on you. I am totally sorry" the person apologize back.

I was surprised when I saw a really beautiful brunette in front of me apologizing. The first person who doesn't treat me like shit.

"You...you... you" I stutter still taken aback by the fact that she is smiling at me. 

"By the way I'm Catherine but you can call me Kate" she say stretching her hands forth for a shake. 

I managed to raise my hands up and shake back. 

She looks at her wristwatch and gasp "Uh... I'm late. Principal Mullins will skin me, gotta go. Hope to see you around during lunch" she says and started jogging away. 

I'm about to say I don't eat in the school cafeteria when she shouts, "wait for me in front of the cafe" she said as she disappears. 

I gasp, someone wants to be friend with me. It's like the first time I'm having a friend after like 6 years. 

Just then the bell rang for the next class and I hurried to mine which is mathematics and I'm glad that neither Kendall nor Natalie is in that class with me. 

I entered my last class before lunch thinking about how Natalie had been making my life at home and school hell. 

It became worse when we entered high school 2 years ago, and it became worstest (if there is anything called worstest) when she started dating her playboy, the school bad boy Kendall.

Then I thought of the pretty girl who seems friendly today. Maybe she just felt sorry for me, maybe she really didn't mean eating with me, maybe it was one of Natalie's plan.

Just then, Natalie and Kendall came in, Kendall's hand was on Natalie's waist and her hair lipstick was smudged and I think they just made out. 

Seriously they had no shame. As usual, they sat behind me so they could trouble me.

I seriously don't understand what they gain from bullying me.

Just then the girl from earlier, I think she said she's Catherine came in. 

My heart skipped a bit as she was coming closer to me and smiling at me.

Okay, maybe I'm seeing things, maybe she's smiling at Natalie or Kendall behind me. 

Then it dawned on me when she sat beside me, waved and smiled at me "Hi" she says just as the teacher entered. 

I raised my hand up to wave at her slowly before facing the teacher because one thing I hate and haven't gotten in my whole life is detention. 

Natalie hissed at the back but not too loud for the whole class to hear.

I know she is clearly pissed off by the fact that the new girl is speaking to me not her. 

A pretty new girl at that. Pretty girls are her target anyways. So she could control them. So bitchy 

Then a paper landed in front of me. I didn't ask of your name, what's your name? 

I looked at my side and I saw the new girl smiling and I know it's from her. 

I turned the back of the sheet and wrote Melody and gave it back to her. 

Seriously I haven't done this kind of thing in a long time since nobody ever wants to talk to me. 

Wow, you have a pretty handwriting for that pretty face of yours. She passed the paper back and I read it.

Thanks, I wrote back and gave it to her. 

After writing something,she passed it back to me again hope you didn't forget I said we are sitting together during lunch at the school cafeteria

Sorry I don't eat in the cafe, I gave her back. 

Well, there is always a start for everything Mel, you are going and that's final she gave me back facing the teacher concentrating on what he is explaining
