CHAPTER 2

"What is going on here?"  A magnetic male voice resounded, 

Mae felt that the voice was particularly familiar. Andrew who was pressing on her, hurriedly got down enabling her to stand upright. 

She looked up to see her ex-boyfriend, Raymond dressed in an expensive suit, he was standing at the door.

Mae stared at  Raymond standing at the door, panicking and pulling her rumpled clothes into place. She never expected to reunite with Raymond in such an embarrassing situation.

Tears rolled down her eyes, she bent her head in shame staring at the tiled floor.

Andrew adjusted his attire smiling nervously.

"Welcome boss!" He greeted moving closer to Raymond and stretched his hand out for a handshake.  

However, Raymond ignored his hand leaving him embarrassed.

"What the fuck are you still doing here you slut, get out!" He shouted at Mae, taking his frustration on her.

Mae gritted her teeth, she got frustrated at herself for being unable to hold back her tears. She felt pathetic. 

She couldn't believe her ex was the new CEO. She didn't say a word but covered her clothes and walked

straight to the door only to be stopped by Raymond. 

"Stop there."

She looked up at him, and he looked back at her with cold eyes, full of disdain.

Raymond with a cold demeanor, closed the door and sat on the chair that belonged to Andrew  

Mae didn't know what he was up to, but she was sure that he didn't want to help her seek justice. They didn't break up on good terms, and he must have harboured resentment towards her. 

Mae felt her heart sink, and Andrew looked puzzled.

"What is going on sir? You don't have to stay here any longer. I'd take you to your office, sir." He asked nervously looking puzzled. 

Raymond sat comfortably on the chair and calmly unbuttoned his suit.

"I'm pretty sure you know that it is stated in the company's policy that office romance and sexual harassment by superiors towards colleagues are not allowed," he stated staring intently at Mae.

Andrew stood like an innocent man who was accused of a crime he didn't commit,  his heart had been racing all this while.

On hearing Raymond's statement, he panicked quickly distancing himself from Mae and pointing fingers at Mae.

"I was not doing anything wrong, sir, she brought her slutty self to seduce me. As a man, there was little to nothing I could do. She had always been this way and I had always overcome her slutty temptation sir." he rushed nervously for fear of losing his job.

"She always does that every time she comes to work late or she does something wrong or she broke a company rule sir." He further added. 

Raymond glared at Mae, his eyes showing disappointment which quickly vanished as soon as it came.

"Wow, you really proved to be a slut."

"I… Did nothing wrong." Mae started choking on her tears as she tried to defend herself. 

Andrew gave her a fierce look, no remorse attached. "I tell you sir, the only way she got this job was by seducing someone!" He further admonished. 

Raymond's gaze lingered on Mae, but it was unclear whether he believed her or he believed what Andrew said.

" Sir, she..." Andrew was about to badmouth her again but Raymond interrupted much to Andrew's displeasure.

" What are your duties and responsibilities in this company?" He asked Mae with one of his eyebrows raised. 

" I work in the designing department, I design ideas and seek approval from Mr Andrew 's P.A. I also submit new ideas and advice the company could need to improve more. " she hesitantly explained her job and duties with a quivering voice, still sniffing from the unending tears she had managed to stop.

Raymond shook his head in disapproval staring intently at her.

"From what I found out about this company Miss Madison your ideas don't seem to be doing any good here " he sarcastically commented on her work, not her abilities.

However, Mae misunderstood and thought that Raymond was looking down on her skills. Mae bit her lip feeling sad and remained silent.

Andrew saw that Raymond was dissatisfied with Mae and he smiled smugly, feeling satisfied that the new CEO was paying no attention to this wretched girl. 

He breathed in relief hoping that his boss would not believe any word that comes out of her mouth.

"That is right sir, she is very incompetent and lazy at work. I think the best thing to do is to fire her sir!"  he suggested with a devious smile on his face. 

He was desperate to chase Mae out of the company so that she would not get him exposed.

Raymond responded with a nod,  at that, the duo thought he had agreed to fire her.

Mae looked at Raymond with unshed tears in her eyes hoping to defend herself but seeing his cold expression she gave up and turned to leave.

Her shoulders were slumped in sadness while Andrew was grinning from ear to ear feeling victorious. 

As Mae turned around to leave, Raymond spoke up.

"I didn't know my personal assistant could be so impolite to leave my presence without permission" 

Mae stopped and looked at Raymond in confusion.

"Don't tell me that your brain is so dumb not to understand what I am talking about!" Raymond said snorting. 

"Um, I can barely understand sir ..." Mae blubbered feeling nervous but was interrupted by Raymond. 

"Save me the speech dumbo, from now henceforth,  you would be my personal assistant so make sure you pack up your things and move to the top floor before you leave at noon." He commanded.

After speaking, Raymond stood up and walked out of the office like nothing happened leaving Mae in shock and Andrew disappointed.
