Alessia’s Point Of View:“Are you for real?” I spat in so much disbelief as I left my hand on the air, still holding the fries that I dipped on the ketchup.I blinked my eyes several times as I covered my slightly parted lips using my free hand before finally got to glance at Sandra. She’s the woman who saved me earlier from slapping Amelia. We kind off clicked each other the moment we start talking. Her skin is pale as a bond paper and her hair is long enough to make and donate it as a wig. She has a pure black eye color that superiors her jaw dropping beauty, who can literally make every guy glance at her from time to time.“I am very well sure!” Confidence was all over her voice. She took a big bite on the hamburger before continuing to tell an ear captivating story. It all started on the history on why Yadiel was very elusive on interacting with women. She gave me three reasons that she just heard around the office. First is that Yadiel just don’t want to distract himself from his priorities and in order to do that, he will and continue to ignore women. Second is that he don’t want himself to get married.According to Sandra, Yadiel gets annoyed on the things that women do, especially when it comes in dressing up who takes three hours just to find a perfect dress.Third and last is this is what I really didn’t expect to come out from her mouth. Yadiel might be gay that’s why he despise women than men.I mean, there’s nothing really bad at being a gay so why would he hide it?Is he scared on what people might say to him or he’s just invalidating his feelings that he’s a gay. But if he is, I will probably say sorry to him and be friends to him yet I’m still doubting that idea. The way he walk, the way he look and the way he talk is just so manly that can make every girls’ knees weakend. He have the charisma and the appeal that every woman wants from a guy.“Is it what Amelia was fuzzing about earlier?” I asked out of confusion and crinkled my forehead.“That insecured bitch really annoys me.” She replied instead and smashed the fries on the top of her plate as she narrowed her eyes as if imagining that Amelia is in front of her. “I heard that she has a crush on sir but can’t make a move because she’s always being ignored.” There seemed to be a successful smile flashed on her lips after saying those words.Somehow, I felt honored that Yadiel did not ignore me the way he ignored Amelia. As if he’s treating me way different than others. She glanced at me after that, slightly showing his mischievous grin. “You’re so lucky to put your ass on Sir Yadiel’s car.”I was caught off guard with that and scoffed instead to cover the shock that I’m feeling.“I don’t feel lucky though. It’s more like a misfortune to me.” Disagreement was evident in my voice.I winced because of her bluntness and shook my head in disbelief. She even bit the tip of her milktea straw to stop herself from shrieking.I rolled my eyes at her before sipping my juice. I ask her again instead to continue her office rumour stories. She mentioned Madame Clayton, the woman who interviewed me. She told me that she’s like the second mother of Yadiel.Aside from his Mom, Madame Clayton can make Yadiel follow her commands even though it’s not what he wants to do but unlike his Mom, who always spoils her son with whatever he wants and likes, Madame Clayton did exactly the opposite.Yes, she’s willing to give everything what Yadiel wants, but for her, it’s in her vocabulary to have a limitation in every situation.Being Yadiel’s second mother is not easy because you have to deal with his attitude especially with his mood swings.Madame Clayton is a strict yet kind woman and becomes soft when it comes to him.“I never imagined that Madame Clayton is close to him.” Was all I can say as I relaxed my body on the metal chair.Sandra agreed by nodding her head causing her big earings to sway with a synchronized movement.“I’m actually scared at her during my interview. Her eyebrows makes me somewhat wants to just quit applying my job.” She even laughed at herself after wiping the side of her mouth.I also can’t help myself but to laugh with her because I can’t deny that she’s quite telling the truth. Maybe if it wasn’t with the woman who hired me instantly in the middle of my interview, I think I wouldn’t be able to pass.“I have one more story to tell that surely can make your heart melt in admiration.” Sandra chirped and clasped her hands below her chin before letting out her dreamy sigh, eyes were half-opened and lips forming into a wide smile.I observed her how she would play with her fingers as she keeps on exhaling soft sighs. She began telling her story and I was just silently listening to every detail.Obviously, I’m quite triggered because of her reaction but I will never show to her that I’m interested. She will just tease me to death, forcing me that I like and admire Yadiel even if it’s obvious that I feel way more opposite than she ever imagined.Yadiel was only twenty-two years old when he got his own company. While doing his studies on college, he managed to also learn how to run a company with the help of his Dad. Being a CEO of his company was his goal which he achieved earlier than he imagined because of his hard work and determination for success.Despite the multi-tasking, he still graduated with flying colors and top all the board exams. Business men and women were really determined to have a partnership with him and willing to fall in line just to have his presence. He also rejected one of the top companies in the country because of what they did to his father. That company underestimate and judged his father and instead of picking skilled and deserving employees, that company chose money over quality. It's a fight between connections and skills.Yadiel’s not really taking it seriously but when he heard the news coming from the company that they had been backstabbing his father, that’s when he realized that he doesn’t need that company to rise.He can and will be successful on his own.Unfortunately, while Yadiel is starting to rise in the business world, a bad news came in.His father will be no longer with his journey because his father died in a car accident. But despite that, he will continue the career that his father left, thinking that he will make him proud as ever.My eyes got widened and blinked several times out of pure amusement. The humming of the air conditioning echoed the quiet shop as I watched Sandra sipped on her milktea, chest were out and chin was looking up, obviously boasting that she knew everything that I didn’t.“That explains his bitterness.” My stomach revolted in disgust.“What do you mean?” She tilted her head and stopped mixing her milktea with the straw.“Just because,” half-shrugging my shoulders, I said. She also shrugged her shoulders and crossed her arms on her chest as she lays her back on the chair causing her jeweleries hanging on her neck to click to each other producing a luxurious rhythm from the pearls.“How many years are you working in that company?” A line appeared between my brows because of curiosity.Just the way she remain her poise and the way she talks is just so feminine. It’s like she have all the money in the world from her clothes down to her jewelries.Sandra shook her head aggressively, “I’m a newbie but I’m a week older employee than you.” she sexily puts the strand of her hair behind her ear.“What?” She’s a newbie yet her fighting spirit is beyond the level. The way she pulled Amelia’s hair earlier is like she’s ready to fight to death. This girl did nothing but to impress me. I’m wishing to have the same courage like her. Yes, I did know how to fight back but not because I’m protecting myself. I’m fighting back just to save my ass from humiliation and embarrassment. There’s a big different between the two.I somehow admired her.We talked for a while when a question suddenly came out from my mouth.“Does Yadiel really have that kind of attitude?” I wondered as I crinkled the side of my eyes. Her brows automatically made a line, “What attitude?”“He’s such a short-tempered guy who doesn’t know how to filter his fucking mouth and do nothing but to be rude to others.” My pulse starts to slam in my neck as I blurted out those words scornfully and smashed my teeth into each other.I saw how Sandra’s lips fell apart as her eyes nearly popped out in shock. She starts swallowing faster than ever and was barely able to breathe while trailing her eyes from mine to my back. Worry snaked through her along with the dryness of her lips.“What are you looking at?” I spat and scratched the back of my ear with irritation.I didn’t wait for her answer and glanced at my back only for me to gasped and stiffened in shock. I almost fell from my seat after seeing who’s Sandra’s looking at.Sweats starts forming on my forehead as it continues to cascades down to my neck the moment my eyes landed on Yadiel’s blue seductive eyes.“Report to my office now, Ms. Alessia Faye Smith.” My blood ran cold as the chill went through my spine the moment his baritone voice echoed my ear.08Alessia’s Point Of View:“Good afternoon, sir. What can I do for you?” Trying my best to be formal as I could, I greeted him with a fake smile.I stopped walking when Yadiel also stopped in front of the lines of papers placed on the cabinets and shelves. Earlier, when he heard what I said made me overthink my job. Different scenarios were came flashing back my mind. I really thought that he would fire me or worst put me in jail. I was thinking that what if he’ll kick me out of the company on my first day, that would be humiliating. Tons of what if’s literally popped out from my mind. What if I’ll lose this job just because of my blunt mouth? How can I provide the needs of my family? How can I buy Naomi her medicines? How can I help my sister finish her studies? That would be so fucked up. I don’t know what my life would be without money. I bit my lower lip when he stopped trailing his fingers on the back bone of the folders just to glance at me. He scanned me from head to fo
09Alessia’s Point Of View:A man who entered the room without knocking seems to be so shock on what he had witnessed. As if we’re doing something illegal. The box of the cake that he was holding slipped on his hand the moment he cursed and saw the scenery before entering the office. The man unconsciously widened his eyes as he averted it to Yadiel’s direction with pure amusement and disbelief written on his face. I simply took a glance on Yadiel who suddenly turned silent and shut his mouth up right after the man’s presence existed in the office.Yadiel diverted his eyes to avoid the man’s eyes but immediately covered his face with his hands when he felt the heat slowly creeping out from his cheeks. My forehead furrowed out of confusion and crinkled my nose with curiosity as I watched them both, clearly sending messages through their minds. My eyes accidentally flew on the unfamiliar figure causing us to stare with each other in a whole second. I don’t know what should I feel esp
10Alessia’s Point Of View:“Aren’t you going to eat?” I furrowed my brows and raised my gaze to him, mouth is full of slices of cake.I chewed and munched the cake slices as if I’m a baby that has been born earlier. I think I’ve been eating this way in more than twenty minutes. I will take a slice of cake, put it on my saucer and then put it inside my mouth in a whole piece. I don’t know how did it fit my mouth, but I would always make sure that no piece will leave any trace nor scratch of the cake. “Can you please eat with etiquette?” He grunted with annoyance written all over his face before groaning, clearly not used to seeing someone eating like this. I stopped midway because of that and took a short glance of him before mocking him like a child. “Whatever,” rolling my eyes, I said. Instead of annoying him again, I sliced a small size of cake on my saucer with my fork before putting it in my mouth. Wincing with how much he exaggerates my moves. What can I do? I can’t deny
11Alessia’s Point Of View:Just before Yadiel could even park his car properly, I immediately opened the car door and jumped out off from his car causing him to step on the break unexpectedly. “Damn, Alessia!” I heard him yell along with the loud and long squeaking of the wheels of his car. Irritated, he pressed the horn as if really scared because of what I did. I clearly understood why he acted that way. We should have bumped on the post and I’ll probably be injured more than him. I didn’t turn my back and went my way to our house walking and half-running. I felt him parked his car properly before following me from behind, putting his keys on his pocket.I can’t feel my legs anymore nor hear the noises around our village because of the loud thumping of my heart making me want to focus on myself and on Naomi who’s now fighting for her life again for over a million times. I opened the main door and scanned my eyes on the living room. Not a minute had passed when I figured out th
12 Alessia’s Point of View:“Can you please all stop looking at him?” I groaned with annoyance and scratched the back of my ear. It has been almost an hour of silence while boring their eyes on Yadiel who seemed to be feeling the awkwardness and embarrassment. The sun is now hiding behind the clouds and that replaced the gorgeous half-moon on the night sky. The cold breeze of the December filled the surroundings along with the sound of falling leaves swirling with the wind. Yadiel offered earlier to pay our electricity. Even though I want to refuse, I still accepted it. I told him that I will pay him after my payment and he was okay with it. It’s dark outside and clearly, our neighbors were now on their beds, sleeping peacefully yet here we are still wide awake, sitting on the living room and waiting for the egg of the dinosaur to crack. Earlier, after Naomi recovered, I was about to excuse Yadiel but that didn’t go well because of Noah who seemed to have a huge hatred on him. W
13 Alessia’s Point of View:The whole place suddenly went silent as if it’s illegal for us to make any noises. The sounds of crickets and the annoying noise coming from the lizards were the least that I can hear at the moment. We are all gathered in the dining area, sitting right next to each other comfortably except Yadiel who seemed to be anxious on what’s happening and what will going happen this night. Our dining table only consist of six chairs, good for six people more like to say, only good for our family, but now that Yadiel is here, I have to get the metal stool at the backyard just for him to have a chair. At first, I was hesitant to offer him a metal stool. Just by looking at him who’s personality’s screaming for money, I really doubt if he would sit in a chair like that, but gladly and luckily, he accepted it and even thanked me which is very unusual of him. I scanned my gaze to my family and to Yadiel only to notice one thing. It has been almost half an hour since we
14 Alessia’s Point of View: “What happened next?” I can see how interested Sandra is by just measuring how wide her smiles. We are now currently spending our one-hour lunch break here in the cafeteria. We both just finished our works earlier and I have to say that Sandra, being my office mate friend is worth it for she guides me in everything I do. Every time I have a question, she’s always there. It’s really funny to think that instead I will be the one who’s guiding her, it’s now working in the opposite way. In fact, she also volunteered a help in case I needed some guidance or a hand with my works. She started to expressed her concern and care for me after I told her what happened to my sister. “The charisma and hotness are filling this cold cafeteria.” Smirking, she stated and gestured the whole place where there’s a lot of people wearing thick clothes to prevent themselves from catching cold. I winced in disagreement. “He was just concerned about my sister that’s why he le
15 Author’s Point of View: (Flashback) “Your family really likes me a lot, huh.” A pinch of amusement and happiness were echoing from Arthur’s voice causing Alessia to take a quick glance at him. They were both now at the mini-park of Alessia’s province, swaying the swing that they are sitting on. It’s already past midnight and both of them was taking the place alone. No parents shouting at their child to be careful on playing, no kids playing and running around and especially no one can eavesdrop their conversation. It’s only the light posts, the cold breeze and the creaking sound of the old and rusty chain of the swings were evident right at the moment. The side of Alessia’s lips rose up while playing her rubber shoes with the dry sand. “You’re the first ever guy I introduced to them and that explains why.” She replied in a matter–of–fact half-shrugging the words. He softly chuckled making Alessia to flush in red for an unknown reason. She keeps on feeling this weird respons
23 Alessia’s Point of View:“Woah…” I whispered beyond my breath as I raised my head to look what’s in front of me.Yadiel drove his way here after buying the two bags that he mentioned earlier. I don’t know where we are but it took 15 minutes for us to arrive here. We entered the wide and metal gate that I know costs a lot. Different kind of flowers and different kind of designs is what welcome us the moment we entered the gate. Not far enough is a water fountain with a statue in the center. Yadiel parked his car earlier in front of the stairs that is shining like a new coin from the bank. The place was clean and so as the scent of the different kinds of flowers that is kissing my nostrils brought by the wind.“Where are we? Is this some sort of resort, hotel or what?” Confused yet excited, I asked.I walked faster to catch up with him. This is more like a mansion or a castle. I bet that this land is wider than what I think. I didn’t have the chance to see what’s behind this mansion
22 Alessia’s Point of View:“Is this the reason why you want me here?” Raising the bracelets above the air, I complained and looked at him with so much annoyance in the eyes. The saleslady seemed to be shocked at my attitude and turned their eyes on me with disbelief in their eyes. They were grimacing at me secretly and just by the look of their facial expressions, they seemed to be dismayed by my aggressiveness.I rolled my eyes on them and stayed silent instead. In fact, I don’t want to go with him. He left me unanswered earlier and left me with no choice but to follow all his rules as if he’s living his life as a king. I just really want to go home, lay in bed and close my eyes to have a good sleep. But, clearly, having a boss like him is a pain in the ass.You are left with no choice but to do what he wants you to do. I can’t even argue with that right now because I’m his secretary and I’m supposedly do what he tells me to do as long as it is still work related.‘This suck. This
21 Alessia’s Point of View:“Alessia Faye Lopez Smith,” she singsong as she held her coffee with her thumb and index and middle finger. The combination of her gold and silver bracelet was touching each other causing it to make a glamorous sound. It shined like it’s a star from the night sky.I didn’t answer and observed her carefully. With an honest vulgar insult in her eyes, she eyed me from head to toe before curving her lips to form a smirk.“You haven’t changed a bit, huh!” She shakes with laughter but ended up protecting her body by turning her shoulder. Her big circular earrings with three layers made its way to make her look more elegant.Using my dead voice, I replied, “Cut the crap, Celine. I’m not in the mood talking to a cheap.”I was about to walk on the opposite side but stopped midway when she successfully caught my hand. She tightened her grip making me winced.“A cheap?” She gasped and slapped her hand on her purposely parted lips. Celine pointed herself as if doesn’t
20 Alessia’s Point of View: “Dad, stop crying. She’s going to be alright.” Noah’s concerned voice is what caught my attention. He looked at Dad who’s sitting beside Naomi’s hospital bed and holding her cold hand while tears cascading down his cheeks. “I have been feeling uneasy this whole night as if something will happen wrong but I still chose to sleep, Only if I know that this would happen…” regret and pain were written all over his face as his voice with full of anger with himself covered my ears. Dad wiped his tears using his other hand while tightening his grip on Naomi’s hand, slightly caressing her palm. He lowered his head to kiss Naomi’s hand before biting his bottom lip to prevent himself from sobbing. “Drink up,” Dad raised his eyes to the glass of water blocking his sight causing him to see my Mom. He accepted the water before drinking it, eyes were on my Mom. “Crying won’t do nothing. Why don’t you have a rest first?” She said while pulling a chair towards his d
19 Alessia’s Point of View:“Hey!” I woke up from being absent-minded because of Kiara’s high tone voice.I blinked my eyes several times to bring my senses back and shook my head to erase the thoughts that has been running in my mind.I glared at her because she scared the death out of me. “What?”“You’re folding it the wrong way,” she calmy answered as she sat on the sofa adjacent to where I’m sitting while carrying her thick medical book.I eyed on it and read the book title. It says ‘Severe Diseases and Its Symptoms.’Glancing at the shirt that I’m holding, then and there I realized that she was right.I was holding it in the wrong way and folding the shirt on the inside.“I’m sorry,” was all I can say and attempts to do it all over again.“Is something bothering you?” She noticed and fold her knees into an Indian seat.I glanced at her and became silent for a second. The cold breeze brought by the night washed the froze leaves of the trees in our garden. The clock that was ticki
18 Alessia’s Point of View:I was spacing out the whole time!My mind is flying with the birds chirping outside the huge and majestic glass window along with my heart who’s silently beating with emptiness just like how I scanned the folder on the top of my desk.It was surely noisy inside the conference room because of their chattering’s but all I could even hear is the swishing sound coming from the aircon and the scratching sounds of the paper while blankly looking at Arthur who seemed to be more professional than ever. The way he lifted his hand to flip the page and the way he scratches his chin with the bottle cap of his pen is just so fascinating to see.I can’t help myself but to compare him from the way he was when we were still together. He was such an immature yet caring guy before!“Meeting adjourned!” Yadiel announced after closing the booklet that he was reading.Synchronized as ever, all of them moved together by closing their folders and pushing their chairs using the b
17 Alessia’s Point of View: My knees were shaking like a 7.5 magnitude earthquake as I step inside the conference room. The cold wind welcomed and kissed my skin the moment I closed the door with care. I followed Yadiel from his back who’s confidently walking with his suit towards his waiting swiveling chair. My heels were clicking on the floor along with the sound of my heavy breathing while secretly swallowing the huge lump in my throat after my eyes accidently landed on Arthur who seemed not to notice my presence yet. Yes, yet. I surely know that he will notice me not soon enough. While heading my way towards my chair, I can’t help myself but to stare at him. My head was all on him yet my body was facing where Yadiel was walking on. Staring at him for a while made me realize how much he changed. His natural messy hair when we were still on college was now in clean cut. His tall nose line and his sexy jaw line defined his facial features even more. My eyes unintentionally l
16 Author’s Point of View: “I hope he will like this.” With a smile on her face and a genuine happiness in her heart, Alessia whispered to herself as she glanced at the box of cake that she saved money for. This is her first time buying this kind of cake. It costs half of Naomi’s medicines for her to take it and give it to Arthur for their monthsary. She worked hard for it and did multiple part-time jobs just for her to afford this cake. The sun is just about to set when she arrived in front of Arthur’s condo building. She decided to visit him unannounced instead and give the monthsary present in person. They both didn’t see each other in the campus because Arthur’s not around because he’s having a cold. Alessia didn’t bother to ring the doorbell and just opened the condo using the spare key that Arthur gave her. Without any hesitation, she stepped in and walked towards the sala set only to gasped and froze in pure shock. She unconsciously took a few steps backward along with th
