21 Alessia’s Point of View:“Alessia Faye Lopez Smith,” she singsong as she held her coffee with her thumb and index and middle finger. The combination of her gold and silver bracelet was touching each other causing it to make a glamorous sound. It shined like it’s a star from the night sky.I didn’t answer and observed her carefully. With an honest vulgar insult in her eyes, she eyed me from head to toe before curving her lips to form a smirk.“You haven’t changed a bit, huh!” She shakes with laughter but ended up protecting her body by turning her shoulder. Her big circular earrings with three layers made its way to make her look more elegant.Using my dead voice, I replied, “Cut the crap, Celine. I’m not in the mood talking to a cheap.”I was about to walk on the opposite side but stopped midway when she successfully caught my hand. She tightened her grip making me winced.“A cheap?” She gasped and slapped her hand on her purposely parted lips. Celine pointed herself as if doesn’t
22 Alessia’s Point of View:“Is this the reason why you want me here?” Raising the bracelets above the air, I complained and looked at him with so much annoyance in the eyes. The saleslady seemed to be shocked at my attitude and turned their eyes on me with disbelief in their eyes. They were grimacing at me secretly and just by the look of their facial expressions, they seemed to be dismayed by my aggressiveness.I rolled my eyes on them and stayed silent instead. In fact, I don’t want to go with him. He left me unanswered earlier and left me with no choice but to follow all his rules as if he’s living his life as a king. I just really want to go home, lay in bed and close my eyes to have a good sleep. But, clearly, having a boss like him is a pain in the ass.You are left with no choice but to do what he wants you to do. I can’t even argue with that right now because I’m his secretary and I’m supposedly do what he tells me to do as long as it is still work related.‘This suck. This
23 Alessia’s Point of View:“Woah…” I whispered beyond my breath as I raised my head to look what’s in front of me.Yadiel drove his way here after buying the two bags that he mentioned earlier. I don’t know where we are but it took 15 minutes for us to arrive here. We entered the wide and metal gate that I know costs a lot. Different kind of flowers and different kind of designs is what welcome us the moment we entered the gate. Not far enough is a water fountain with a statue in the center. Yadiel parked his car earlier in front of the stairs that is shining like a new coin from the bank. The place was clean and so as the scent of the different kinds of flowers that is kissing my nostrils brought by the wind.“Where are we? Is this some sort of resort, hotel or what?” Confused yet excited, I asked.I walked faster to catch up with him. This is more like a mansion or a castle. I bet that this land is wider than what I think. I didn’t have the chance to see what’s behind this mansion
01Alessia’s Point Of View:Bullets of bullets of sweats were cascading down my neck as the hem of my shirt was flying along with the air coming from christmas’ season. I should be freezing by now because of the black cami shirt and slacks that I'm wearing, but I feel completely opposite to it for I am just so exhausted. I wiped my sweats away using the back of my palm and then held the painted wall to find my support. Wearing heels on the first day of my job is such a big mistake!I took a break for a minute while remembering why did I come up with this situation. All is set. I estimated my time to arrived at work early but it didn’t happen just like what I expected. I was about to ride a cab on the way to the company when my mother called me through phone telling that Naomi, my younger sister needs her medicines right away because her heart attack triggers again for about multiple times. So, instead of heading my way to work, I did come back to buy her medicines and travelled ba
02Alessia’s Point Of View:“Are you a stalker or what?” I accused as I put my arms on my waist. Huh! If only I know, he’s also one of the guys who would go crazy over me to the point that they will stalk me wherever I go. I remember one time when I was going home from school, there’s this guy who is really interested in me but failed to have my attention. He followed me from my way home and oblivious that I know what he’s been doing. I let him follow me until he finally got to know where I lived and that’s when he started grimacing in disgust. Saying words that ‘You came from a poor family.’ ‘I would never ever waste my time again to you,’ and cursing me because I fooled him. Humiliating and belittling me because of my lifestyle and that I dissapointed him. I did got hurt because of what he said but still managed to compose myself and tried my best to fight my tears back. The next day after that, I received a news that he’s now in a relationship with the hot girl in school and e
03Alessia’s Point Of View:I was stopped from staring blankly in the air when the guy in front of me knocked my forehead using his fingers three times to wake me up. My eyebrows instantly made a line as I raised my head from laying it on my arms whose resting on the top of the desk while massaging my forehead with so much irritation. If I were to estimate, three hours had passed since I started playing my own hair, murmuring words to myself and distracting myself from being bored. How would I be not be bored if there’s no work assigned to me. What I’m really expecting for this day to happen is that I will be very busy because it’s my first day, but it seems that it was just an expectation. I’m disappointed a bit for this is what I really wanted to do, but it came out that I’m more than chill than I was. Preparing for this day to come is quite a bad idea. “You do know that you’re not supposed to sleep here, right?” He asked while twitching his right eyebrow in amusement as he watc
04Alessia’s Point Of View:“I don’t really tolerate pervert men like you in my building, Mr. Whitlock.” It almost became a whisper because of so much intensity that Yadiel put on every word that he spat. His face flashed red and his eyes were turning dark as he pierced his attention to Mr. Whitlock. The pure shock was written all over their faces. Gasping and eyes asking for the clarification, they all looked at Mr. Whitlock’s direction who also seemed to be shocked as the terror plastered on his face. He felt humiliated for the things that he had done. “What are... Are you talking about?” He stammered, hanging his head low in so much embarrassment. Yadiel sarcastically let out a scoff before scrunching his nose, obviously irritated on Mr. Whitlock for denying his sin. I saw how he crumpled his first into a tight ball as if preventing himself from something.“Stop accusing me, Mr. Williams. I have nothing to do with what you’re saying.” He shook his head, clearly denying. But t
05Alessia’s Point Of View:“Where are we?” I asked out of confusion and scanned my gaze around the place. The place was so unlikely to the city, where I worked. The sky were completely covered with blue and white as well as the fresh air that surrounds us. This place is not noisy at all unlike in the city where loud horns coming from a bunch of vehicles, working machines of different factories and even noises coming from the series of voices of people who’s walking on the side road, talking about how stressful their day is. I nearly got slept in my seat because of the quietness of the beautiful scenery as if it was singing a rhythmic lullaby to make a baby sleep. “Why did you bring me here?” My brows immediately made a line as the nervousness in my body starts to rise up. I again looked around, trying to familiarize the place not until I realized that it’s my hometown. My eyes nearly dropped when my eyes met the signage of our street. ‘Where and how the hell did he know this pla

20 Alessia’s Point of View: “Dad, stop crying. She’s going to be alright.” Noah’s concerned voice is what caught my attention. He looked at Dad who’s sitting beside Naomi’s hospital bed and holding her cold hand while tears cascading down his cheeks. “I have been feeling uneasy this whole night as if something will happen wrong but I still chose to sleep, Only if I know that this would happen…” regret and pain were written all over his face as his voice with full of anger with himself covered my ears. Dad wiped his tears using his other hand while tightening his grip on Naomi’s hand, slightly caressing her palm. He lowered his head to kiss Naomi’s hand before biting his bottom lip to prevent himself from sobbing. “Drink up,” Dad raised his eyes to the glass of water blocking his sight causing him to see my Mom. He accepted the water before drinking it, eyes were on my Mom. “Crying won’t do nothing. Why don’t you have a rest first?” She said while pulling a chair towards his d
19 Alessia’s Point of View:“Hey!” I woke up from being absent-minded because of Kiara’s high tone voice.I blinked my eyes several times to bring my senses back and shook my head to erase the thoughts that has been running in my mind.I glared at her because she scared the death out of me. “What?”“You’re folding it the wrong way,” she calmy answered as she sat on the sofa adjacent to where I’m sitting while carrying her thick medical book.I eyed on it and read the book title. It says ‘Severe Diseases and Its Symptoms.’Glancing at the shirt that I’m holding, then and there I realized that she was right.I was holding it in the wrong way and folding the shirt on the inside.“I’m sorry,” was all I can say and attempts to do it all over again.“Is something bothering you?” She noticed and fold her knees into an Indian seat.I glanced at her and became silent for a second. The cold breeze brought by the night washed the froze leaves of the trees in our garden. 18 Alessia’s Point of View:I was spacing out the whole time!My mind is flying with the birds chirping outside the huge and majestic glass window along with my heart who’s silently beating with emptiness just like how I scanned the folder on the top of my desk.It was surely noisy inside the conference room because of their chattering’s but all I could even hear is the swishing sound coming from the aircon and the scratching sounds of the paper while blankly looking at Arthur who seemed to be more professional than ever. The way he lifted his hand to flip the page and the way he scratches his chin with the bottle cap of his pen is just so fascinating to see.I can’t help myself but to compare him from the way he was when we were still together. He was such an immature yet caring guy before!“Meeting adjourned!” Yadiel announced after closing the booklet that he was reading.Synchronized as ever, all of them moved together by closing their folders and pushing their chairs using the b
17 Alessia’s Point of View: My knees were shaking like a 7.5 magnitude earthquake as I step inside the conference room. The cold wind welcomed and kissed my skin the moment I closed the door with care. I followed Yadiel from his back who’s confidently walking with his suit towards his waiting swiveling chair. My heels were clicking on the floor along with the sound of my heavy breathing while secretly swallowing the huge lump in my throat after my eyes accidently landed on Arthur who seemed not to notice my presence yet. Yes, yet. I surely know that he will notice me not soon enough. While heading my way towards my chair, I can’t help myself but to stare at him. My head was all on him yet my body was facing where Yadiel was walking on. Staring at him for a while made me realize how much he changed. His natural messy hair when we were still on college was now in clean cut. His tall nose line and his sexy jaw line defined his facial features even more. My eyes unintentionally l
16 Author’s Point of View: “I hope he will like this.” With a smile on her face and a genuine happiness in her heart, Alessia whispered to herself as she glanced at the box of cake that she saved money for. This is her first time buying this kind of cake. It costs half of Naomi’s medicines for her to take it and give it to Arthur for their monthsary. She worked hard for it and did multiple part-time jobs just for her to afford this cake. The sun is just about to set when she arrived in front of Arthur’s condo building. She decided to visit him unannounced instead and give the monthsary present in person. They both didn’t see each other in the campus because Arthur’s not around because he’s having a cold. Alessia didn’t bother to ring the doorbell and just opened the condo using the spare key that Arthur gave her. Without any hesitation, she stepped in and walked towards the sala set only to gasped and froze in pure shock. She unconsciously took a few steps backward along with th
15 Author’s Point of View: (Flashback) “Your family really likes me a lot, huh.” A pinch of amusement and happiness were echoing from Arthur’s voice causing Alessia to take a quick glance at him. They were both now at the mini-park of Alessia’s province, swaying the swing that they are sitting on. It’s already past midnight and both of them was taking the place alone. No parents shouting at their child to be careful on playing, no kids playing and running around and especially no one can eavesdrop their conversation. It’s only the light posts, the cold breeze and the creaking sound of the old and rusty chain of the swings were evident right at the moment. The side of Alessia’s lips rose up while playing her rubber shoes with the dry sand. “You’re the first ever guy I introduced to them and that explains why.” She replied in a matter–of–fact half-shrugging the words. He softly chuckled making Alessia to flush in red for an unknown reason. She keeps on feeling this weird respons
