11Alessia’s Point Of View:Just before Yadiel could even park his car properly, I immediately opened the car door and jumped out off from his car causing him to step on the break unexpectedly. “Damn, Alessia!” I heard him yell along with the loud and long squeaking of the wheels of his car. Irritated, he pressed the horn as if really scared because of what I did. I clearly understood why he acted that way. We should have bumped on the post and I’ll probably be injured more than him. I didn’t turn my back and went my way to our house walking and half-running. I felt him parked his car properly before following me from behind, putting his keys on his pocket.I can’t feel my legs anymore nor hear the noises around our village because of the loud thumping of my heart making me want to focus on myself and on Naomi who’s now fighting for her life again for over a million times. I opened the main door and scanned my eyes on the living room. Not a minute had passed when I figured out th
12 Alessia’s Point of View:“Can you please all stop looking at him?” I groaned with annoyance and scratched the back of my ear. It has been almost an hour of silence while boring their eyes on Yadiel who seemed to be feeling the awkwardness and embarrassment. The sun is now hiding behind the clouds and that replaced the gorgeous half-moon on the night sky. The cold breeze of the December filled the surroundings along with the sound of falling leaves swirling with the wind. Yadiel offered earlier to pay our electricity. Even though I want to refuse, I still accepted it. I told him that I will pay him after my payment and he was okay with it. It’s dark outside and clearly, our neighbors were now on their beds, sleeping peacefully yet here we are still wide awake, sitting on the living room and waiting for the egg of the dinosaur to crack. Earlier, after Naomi recovered, I was about to excuse Yadiel but that didn’t go well because of Noah who seemed to have a huge hatred on him. W
13 Alessia’s Point of View:The whole place suddenly went silent as if it’s illegal for us to make any noises. The sounds of crickets and the annoying noise coming from the lizards were the least that I can hear at the moment. We are all gathered in the dining area, sitting right next to each other comfortably except Yadiel who seemed to be anxious on what’s happening and what will going happen this night. Our dining table only consist of six chairs, good for six people more like to say, only good for our family, but now that Yadiel is here, I have to get the metal stool at the backyard just for him to have a chair. At first, I was hesitant to offer him a metal stool. Just by looking at him who’s personality’s screaming for money, I really doubt if he would sit in a chair like that, but gladly and luckily, he accepted it and even thanked me which is very unusual of him. I scanned my gaze to my family and to Yadiel only to notice one thing. It has been almost half an hour since we
14 Alessia’s Point of View: “What happened next?” I can see how interested Sandra is by just measuring how wide her smiles. We are now currently spending our one-hour lunch break here in the cafeteria. We both just finished our works earlier and I have to say that Sandra, being my office mate friend is worth it for she guides me in everything I do. Every time I have a question, she’s always there. It’s really funny to think that instead I will be the one who’s guiding her, it’s now working in the opposite way. In fact, she also volunteered a help in case I needed some guidance or a hand with my works. She started to expressed her concern and care for me after I told her what happened to my sister. “The charisma and hotness are filling this cold cafeteria.” Smirking, she stated and gestured the whole place where there’s a lot of people wearing thick clothes to prevent themselves from catching cold. I winced in disagreement. “He was just concerned about my sister that’s why he le
15 Author’s Point of View: (Flashback) “Your family really likes me a lot, huh.” A pinch of amusement and happiness were echoing from Arthur’s voice causing Alessia to take a quick glance at him. They were both now at the mini-park of Alessia’s province, swaying the swing that they are sitting on. It’s already past midnight and both of them was taking the place alone. No parents shouting at their child to be careful on playing, no kids playing and running around and especially no one can eavesdrop their conversation. It’s only the light posts, the cold breeze and the creaking sound of the old and rusty chain of the swings were evident right at the moment. The side of Alessia’s lips rose up while playing her rubber shoes with the dry sand. “You’re the first ever guy I introduced to them and that explains why.” She replied in a matter–of–fact half-shrugging the words. He softly chuckled making Alessia to flush in red for an unknown reason. She keeps on feeling this weird respons
16 Author’s Point of View: “I hope he will like this.” With a smile on her face and a genuine happiness in her heart, Alessia whispered to herself as she glanced at the box of cake that she saved money for. This is her first time buying this kind of cake. It costs half of Naomi’s medicines for her to take it and give it to Arthur for their monthsary. She worked hard for it and did multiple part-time jobs just for her to afford this cake. The sun is just about to set when she arrived in front of Arthur’s condo building. She decided to visit him unannounced instead and give the monthsary present in person. They both didn’t see each other in the campus because Arthur’s not around because he’s having a cold. Alessia didn’t bother to ring the doorbell and just opened the condo using the spare key that Arthur gave her. Without any hesitation, she stepped in and walked towards the sala set only to gasped and froze in pure shock. She unconsciously took a few steps backward along with th
17 Alessia’s Point of View: My knees were shaking like a 7.5 magnitude earthquake as I step inside the conference room. The cold wind welcomed and kissed my skin the moment I closed the door with care. I followed Yadiel from his back who’s confidently walking with his suit towards his waiting swiveling chair. My heels were clicking on the floor along with the sound of my heavy breathing while secretly swallowing the huge lump in my throat after my eyes accidently landed on Arthur who seemed not to notice my presence yet. Yes, yet. I surely know that he will notice me not soon enough. While heading my way towards my chair, I can’t help myself but to stare at him. My head was all on him yet my body was facing where Yadiel was walking on. Staring at him for a while made me realize how much he changed. His natural messy hair when we were still on college was now in clean cut. His tall nose line and his sexy jaw line defined his facial features even more. My eyes unintentionally l
18 Alessia’s Point of View:I was spacing out the whole time!My mind is flying with the birds chirping outside the huge and majestic glass window along with my heart who’s silently beating with emptiness just like how I scanned the folder on the top of my desk.It was surely noisy inside the conference room because of their chattering’s but all I could even hear is the swishing sound coming from the aircon and the scratching sounds of the paper while blankly looking at Arthur who seemed to be more professional than ever. The way he lifted his hand to flip the page and the way he scratches his chin with the bottle cap of his pen is just so fascinating to see.I can’t help myself but to compare him from the way he was when we were still together. He was such an immature yet caring guy before!“Meeting adjourned!” Yadiel announced after closing the booklet that he was reading.Synchronized as ever, all of them moved together by closing their folders and pushing their chairs using the b
23 Alessia’s Point of View:“Woah…” I whispered beyond my breath as I raised my head to look what’s in front of me.Yadiel drove his way here after buying the two bags that he mentioned earlier. I don’t know where we are but it took 15 minutes for us to arrive here. We entered the wide and metal gate that I know costs a lot. Different kind of flowers and different kind of designs is what welcome us the moment we entered the gate. Not far enough is a water fountain with a statue in the center. Yadiel parked his car earlier in front of the stairs that is shining like a new coin from the bank. The place was clean and so as the scent of the different kinds of flowers that is kissing my nostrils brought by the wind.“Where are we? Is this some sort of resort, hotel or what?” Confused yet excited, I asked.I walked faster to catch up with him. This is more like a mansion or a castle. I bet that this land is wider than what I think. I didn’t have the chance to see what’s behind this mansion
22 Alessia’s Point of View:“Is this the reason why you want me here?” Raising the bracelets above the air, I complained and looked at him with so much annoyance in the eyes. The saleslady seemed to be shocked at my attitude and turned their eyes on me with disbelief in their eyes. They were grimacing at me secretly and just by the look of their facial expressions, they seemed to be dismayed by my aggressiveness.I rolled my eyes on them and stayed silent instead. In fact, I don’t want to go with him. He left me unanswered earlier and left me with no choice but to follow all his rules as if he’s living his life as a king. I just really want to go home, lay in bed and close my eyes to have a good sleep. But, clearly, having a boss like him is a pain in the ass.You are left with no choice but to do what he wants you to do. I can’t even argue with that right now because I’m his secretary and I’m supposedly do what he tells me to do as long as it is still work related.‘This suck. This
21 Alessia’s Point of View:“Alessia Faye Lopez Smith,” she singsong as she held her coffee with her thumb and index and middle finger. The combination of her gold and silver bracelet was touching each other causing it to make a glamorous sound. It shined like it’s a star from the night sky.I didn’t answer and observed her carefully. With an honest vulgar insult in her eyes, she eyed me from head to toe before curving her lips to form a smirk.“You haven’t changed a bit, huh!” She shakes with laughter but ended up protecting her body by turning her shoulder. Her big circular earrings with three layers made its way to make her look more elegant.Using my dead voice, I replied, “Cut the crap, Celine. I’m not in the mood talking to a cheap.”I was about to walk on the opposite side but stopped midway when she successfully caught my hand. She tightened her grip making me winced.“A cheap?” She gasped and slapped her hand on her purposely parted lips. Celine pointed herself as if doesn’t
20 Alessia’s Point of View: “Dad, stop crying. She’s going to be alright.” Noah’s concerned voice is what caught my attention. He looked at Dad who’s sitting beside Naomi’s hospital bed and holding her cold hand while tears cascading down his cheeks. “I have been feeling uneasy this whole night as if something will happen wrong but I still chose to sleep, Only if I know that this would happen…” regret and pain were written all over his face as his voice with full of anger with himself covered my ears. Dad wiped his tears using his other hand while tightening his grip on Naomi’s hand, slightly caressing her palm. He lowered his head to kiss Naomi’s hand before biting his bottom lip to prevent himself from sobbing. “Drink up,” Dad raised his eyes to the glass of water blocking his sight causing him to see my Mom. He accepted the water before drinking it, eyes were on my Mom. “Crying won’t do nothing. Why don’t you have a rest first?” She said while pulling a chair towards his d
19 Alessia’s Point of View:“Hey!” I woke up from being absent-minded because of Kiara’s high tone voice.I blinked my eyes several times to bring my senses back and shook my head to erase the thoughts that has been running in my mind.I glared at her because she scared the death out of me. “What?”“You’re folding it the wrong way,” she calmy answered as she sat on the sofa adjacent to where I’m sitting while carrying her thick medical book.I eyed on it and read the book title. It says ‘Severe Diseases and Its Symptoms.’Glancing at the shirt that I’m holding, then and there I realized that she was right.I was holding it in the wrong way and folding the shirt on the inside.“I’m sorry,” was all I can say and attempts to do it all over again.“Is something bothering you?” She noticed and fold her knees into an Indian seat.I glanced at her and became silent for a second. The cold breeze brought by the night washed the froze leaves of the trees in our garden.
