“Father told me that you were getting married,” Cassandra froze when she heard Lance’s cold voice coming from the doorway of her room, a fearful gasp escaped her, she had planned to avoid him, but she didn’t know how he was able to get to the door without her knowing, had she had forgotten to turn on the lock to the door?
Cassandra’s heart hammered painfully in her chest when she felt him come further into the room, only then did she turn to face him gently, his eyes gleamed with chilled malice, as he took slow taunting steps toward her.
“You traitor!” He growled lowly, suddenly reaching to grab her by the hair, he tightened his fists as if to hit her, but he only withdrew because everyone else was at home.
“Please,” she begged, tears had filled her eyes and her lips were quivering.
“Tell me your excuse,” he urged almost daringly, “Did you think I wouldn’t find out?” she shook her head hurriedly and Lance held her closer to himself, waiting for her explanation.
Cassandra’s voice came out as a shaky whisper, there were tears in her eyes as well, Lance was very vengeful, he would definitely punish her. “I didn’t know, Uncle N-Niko came to p-pick me up and...” she stammered, her words not making any sense, Lance grabbed her chin roughly, his fingers squeezing her cheeks making her silent.
“It’s father’s fault now, isn’t it?” His eyes were red with fury, he was barely holding himself back. “Okay, let’s say he did propose you get married to that wretched man, did you say no?”
Cassandra’s eyes narrowed, her tears leaking to her cheeks, saying no to the men of this family was not allowed, even after she was tortured, she would be forced to do it anyway, Lance understands this better than anyone.
“I-I couldn’t...” she squeaked. “I tried to, but Uncle didn’t let me, h-he told m-me to do it.”
“If you loved me enough you will fight for our love,” He flung her, and she fell to her bed, she tried to scramble up but he kicked her. “Or are you planning to take advantage of your marriage and run away from me? You think you can escape me?”
“No...” she whispered, even though it is true.
“No?” Lance queried.
“I don’t want to get married too, because I-I love you, Lance.” She said, her voice in a low whisper, hoping that he believed her, Lance paused for a while, a bit excited from hearing her confessions. His long fingers ran into her hair as if searching for something in her face.
“You love me?” he queried and she nodded hurriedly back in response. “Then say it again.”
“I love you.” She replied.
“You’re mine, you hear that?” he growled in her face and she nodded again. “You are mine.”
Cassandra picked up the wine glass from the table and sipped from the dark reddish liquid, she had been in the restaurant, about thirty minutes early for her blind date, just because her Uncle Niko had demanded it from her. According to them, Blaze was an impatient man who didn’t like to wait, so she needed to be earlier than him for the blind date. Waiting for him, didn’t bother her at all, what worries her, was the possibility that he remembers her, she suck in a deep breath, fine, she would use this opportunity to apologize to him properly. She glanced at her wristwatch, a little impatient, she wanted to make the marriage work.
Especially since what happened with Lance the previous night, even if she had to beg Blake, she would do anything to make him agree.
She was just so done with Uncle Niko and his goddamned family.
“This is table fourteen, right?” The chilling voice of a man disrupted her intense brooding, Cassandra jolted slightly as she looked up at the man towering over her, the piercing black eyes narrowed almost immediately in recognition.
Seemed like she was right to worry.
“What are you doing here?” he asked as he picked up the table tag, confirming the table number. “Are you not the lady who destroyed my phone?”
Cassandra was momentarily speechless, she knew this wasn’t the way she wanted the conversation to go, and this was already a bad start.
“Are you sure you are not sitting at the wrong table?” he queried in that chilling voice of his, as he pulled a chair for himself and sat down. “I already reserved this table, and I should be having a guest.”
“I deeply apologize for your broken phone, Mr. Mcknight,” she finally blurted, making Blaze’s eyes narrowed, he couldn’t believe this was the woman he was supposed to meet with.
His grandfather should have better taste than this, why would he invite such an ordinary and boring-looking woman to lunch?
“I never intended to damage the phone, I am sure it cost a lot of money, and even though I’m not financially stable at the moment, I will pay you back.” She said her voice filled with optimism, Blaze paused for a while wondering what to do with the woman who rambled endlessly in front of him.
“I am tired of that old man already.” He leaned into the table, looking at her dead in the eyes. “What do you think I can do to him to make him give up?”
Her eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“I don’t want to get married, and even if I do, why does he think I would like to be with a woman like you for the rest of my life?” He queried, the disappointment in his voice was glaring.
“Excuse me?” Cassandra blurted in confusion.
“You know what you have to do,” Blake said with a stoic expression as he withdrew from the table, his eyes bore hatred into Cassandra, “Just tell him I was rude, and you don’t like me.”
Cassandra’s eyes narrowed almost immediately, this was the only chance she might get to make Lance stay away from her, she suck in a deep breath.
“No,” Cassandra answered with a small frown on her face, she had been rehearsing how to sound nice while she rejected his proposal but it was impossible.
“What?” He seemed surprised because he wasn’t expecting her to refuse.
“I said no, I am sorry, I can’t do that.” She muttered trying her best to be calm.
“You don’t have any idea what you are signing up for, do you?” He asked, both his hands balled into fists on the table, while she watched him silently. She was unable to defend herself because she had nothing to say.
“How much did my grandfather pay you?” Blake asked again, folding his arms across his chest. “I will offer you twice the amount he paid you.”
“Mr. McKnight didn’t offer me money.” She answered again, feeling even more offended. “Even if he did, I won’t be willing to bargain with you, Mr. McKnight wants you to have a wife, and I have decided that I am going to marry you.”
Blake’s cold expression faltered for a minute, but almost immediately, he masked up his emotions.
“You don’t even know what kind of person I am, if I am going to be good to you, are you sure you are willing to take such risks?”
“I’m sorry, I told Mr. McKnight that I would marry you. I don’t think anything would change my mind.” She feigned confidence, holding onto her own hands to stop them from trembling. “We can just try to get along.”
“Get along? What was I expecting from a gold-digger?” he asked with deep seething frustration. “You all are the same.”
“This wouldn’t be easy I assure you, princess, there would be a price to pay, a fucking expensive one.” He gets up and puts on his cap. “See you later, dear wife.”
Unable to say a word she watched him storm away, her heart hammering painfully at his threat, but she already made it clear that she wouldn't back down so easily. Blaze is a smart man, he should figure it.
“Come meet me at this address when you are done with Blake.”Cassandra stared down at the message on her phone; her uncle, Niko, had sent her the message. She let out a sigh, the shock of meeting her soon-to-be husband still within her…Blake McKnight…He was scary in a sense. No wonder his poor old grandfather was begging around for a wife; how was he going to get a wife if he acts like an asshole to every woman he meets. It is his foolishness that allows Uncle Niko was able to use his grandfather’s weakness against him, but this works out. She would be able to leave that family once and for all.Cassandra gets into the lounge at the address her uncle had texted her, her eyes narrow when she catches a glimpse of her uncle with Mr. McKnight. Can’t this man hold on for a bloody second? She wore a thin smile as she approached the table.“Oh! Cassandra is here already,” he said with a beaming smile as he got out of his seat and pulled out a chair for her.“Thank you, Uncle.” She said wit
"What do you mean I have to go out with her again?" Blake thundered over the phone. His grandfather was being more insistent than usual. "Didn’t I already agree to marry the girl? Just call me on the wedding day!"“That’s not happening!” his grandfather snapped. "I sent you a message last night to inform you. Don’t tell me you ignored it just to come up with excuses today!"“Grandpa, I have a meeting,” Blake replied, trying to keep his tone calm.“Cancel it,” his grandfather ordered firmly.Blake was about to fire back when his assistant, Jeffery, gestured at him from the corner of the office. Taking a deep breath, Blake pinched the bridge of his nose, his frustration mounting. There were so many things he wanted to say, but he was painfully aware of his grandfather’s heart condition. Jeffery’s silent reminder made him swallow his anger. The last thing he wanted was to be the reason the old man ended up in the hospital.“You’re always busy with work, even for family gatherings,” his g
“How was your date?” Uncle Niko suddenly asked making Cassandra jolt slightly from surprise. As soon as she realized that her uncle was behind her, she wiped her hands against the apron she was wearing and turned towards him. There was a mischievous grin hanging on his face, it irritated her, so she clenched her jaws to reply.“It was good.” She lied, suddenly at a loss for words, it was nowhere near good, but starting up fires right now will only make Blake more pissed, and it was not like she expected her uncle to care about it if things were sour. The wedding will go as planned no matter what she feels, that much has been established.“Dinner will be ready in a second,” she said hoping he would leave, Niko nodded his head, as he walked towards the door, stopping for a second. “Join us at the dining today.”He left.Cassandra simply stood there wondering if that was a good idea, she had never joined the family for any meal, she always ate her meals in the kitchen, just like her aunt
Lance was so angry that he didn’t even sleep in the house, but Cassandra was grateful his father wasn’t paying much attention to him.“That witch,” Mercedes snarled. “I am sure she seduced him, that’s why.”“I told you, Daddy,” Lena added. “They had been too close, and little he would be influenced by her.”Cassandra could hear their voices from the kitchen as she did the dishes, a small smile hung from her lips, she was secretly grateful for the small chaos in the house.“Rest assured now, child.” Niko’s voice was a little faint. “She will be married soon, and Lance will adjust to that.”“He isn’t picking up the phone,” Mercedes complained her voice a little shaky. “What if he does something stupid?”“Well, I hope he does,” Cassandra said in a while whisper as she ran the faucet again.Lance didn’t come home through the night, his mother had been worried, but he didn’t come home neither did he answer any of their calls, even in the morning, he didn’t come home.“That boy…” Mercedes m
Uncle Niko finally managed to get through to Lance. However, Lance had made it clear that he would not come home if they were serious about arranging Cassandra’s marriage. The conversation between them was heated, Niko putting Lance in his place. Despite the tension, Cassandra felt a sense of relief and gratitude that Uncle Niko was not going to cancel the wedding because of Lance. For the first time in years, she was finally going to leave the family.“Are you done?” Uncle Niko asked as Cassandra finished arranging the table. She turned toward him, wiping small beads of sweat from her forehead.“Yes,” she replied quickly.“You should get dressed and ready. I’m sure your aunt can handle the rest,” he said.Cassandra wrinkled her nose in annoyance. She had already done all the work; there wasn’t anything left for her aunt to handle.“The McKnights will be here in fifteen minutes,” Uncle Niko continued, stroking his chin thoughtfully as he studied her. “I figured you might not have a
“What were you expecting?” Blake asked, bending slightly to remove his shoes. Lena felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment.“Blake, you shouldn’t tease your sister-in-law,” Mr. McKnight said with a nervous smile, his eyes watching Blake cautiously. He suspected Blake might be planning something. His unusually obedient demeanor was out of character, and it made Mr. McKnight uneasy. Blake rarely passed up an opportunity to stir up trouble.“I’m not teasing,” Blake replied smoothly. “I was just asking if I met her expectations.” Turning back to Lena, he added, “Do you think there’s anything I’m lacking?”A nervous smile spread across Lena’s face as she tucked a few stray strands of hair behind her ears.“I don’t think you’re lacking anything,” she replied, her voice a bit unsteady.Blake smiled faintly before walking over to Cassandra. She stood silently, watching them; she wondered if Blake found her attractive at all. He had barely spared her a glance during their conversation, but he
“You should smile, I don’t want the world to think that I’m forcing you to do this.” Uncle Nico said as he pressed Cassandra’s shoulder, smiling at their reflection in the mirror. Cassandra looked at herself in the mirror she was all makeup, she wore expensive jewelry, an expensive wedding gown, expensive shoes, and gloves. Everything was so expensive and this was the first time they were getting her something of value. She was only allowed to wear the second-hand clothes of her cousin Lena, it was different today because she was getting married.A tear escaped her eyes and then slid down her cheeks, Niko frowned when he noticed it.“Don't tell me you are crying, a bride is not supposed to cry on her wedding day, do you know how many girls dream of such a fabulous wedding? And you should think about my efforts to get you here, are you going to waste them all now?”He snapped and she shook her head. “No…” she muttered wiping her face almost immediately and carefully so that she di
Blake rolled his eyes, Cassandra had acted beyond his expectations, he thought she was some timid woman, who would act like he had ordered, but it seemed like she had something up her sleeves, and she wasn’t as shy as he presumed. He glared at her, but her face remained hidden from him.Well, he would hate to admit it, but he was wrong to have called her plain-looking.She was nowhere near plain…The reason she had once appeared to have been looking plain was probably because her dress didn’t suit her style, but seeing her dressed up in a wedding gown made his heart raced slightly.Blake hissed at the warmth that nestled in his chest, he disliked it.He couldn’t let himself be influenced by his emotions again, he had barely gotten a hold of himself after everything Natasha had done to him. Even though they were different, she was just as capable of hurting him as Natasha did.He would take no chances.“Congratulations, Boss,” some of the workers at his company said as they approached
Cassandra hugged the pillow even tighter, tears leaking from the corner of her eyes. This was different from when she was married… it felt different. She felt utterly disgusting and lacking, she thought getting married would make her rid of Lance. But she didn't even know how the hell he found her. She heard a knock on the door, she raised her head tiredly, she didn't have the zeal to answer it. Hoping Glenda would go away. The knock came back again even more louder.“I know you're not asleep.” She stiffened lightly when she heard Blake's voice from the other end of the door. “I'm coming in.” She quickly wiped her tears as soon as he announced his entry. The door opened and he came inside the room, there was a small frown hanging at the edge of his brows. “What happened?” he asked folding his arms before ambling towards her. “You were fine before you left the company. You were in a good mood, so tell me what made you like this?” Cassandra felt her heart swell painfully in her
Trigger Warning: Scene contains violence and assault which may be upsetting for readers. please proceed with caution “Lance please let me go.” Cassandra begged feeling her body trembled as they drove further. “I knew there was something up with you.” Lance muttered with a stiff expression on his face. “You're the one who's trying to avoid me. All those unnecessary excuses you're bringing up is just you.”Cassandra felt her lips quivered as she held on tighter to the seat. It was taking every bit of her self control to stop herself from breaking down in his car.Her vision was blurry from the tears that had lathered in her eyes. Lance seemed angry. So angry…“I don't know how to explain how hurt I am Cassandra.” He muttered as he approached the underground parking lot. “You claim to love me but is this the way you treat the people you love?” “N-No please. Lance you can't…” she choked. “You can't do that, I am married now.” “I don't care if you're married.” he yelled. “If you had l
“You did a very good job.” Blake said seemingly impressed, he hadn't expected that Cassandra would learn such difficult task so fast. He had scheduled a month to train her perfectly but it’s barely a week and she was doing beautiful.Even Stefan commented about how fast she was learning. “If you keep this up then I believe it wouldn't be long till you're perfect at this.” he counted his fingers. “Probably a week or so.” “Thank you for the compliment.” A small blush rose to her cheeks. This was the first time someone praised her efficiency.Back at home Aunt Mercedes was never satisfied with anything she did. No matter how good it was. The only thing she did was slur at her. “Well, that will be all the training you need for the day,” he said waving his fingers dismissively. “I'll ask my driver to drop you off at home.” Her brows tightened almost immediately, as she asked.“You're not coming home yet?” She wondered her voice sounded a little disappointed, she hadn't reali
“Oh yes!” A loud moan echoes across the walls of the room, followed by the sound of wet skin slapping against the other. “Harder. F*ck me harder.” “Baby! Yes, please go faster!” The red-haired woman yelled out again, as she arched her back, her nails digging into the skin of the man glistening with sweat. Their breath was mixing with building passion, her eyes rolled to the back of her head when she felt him reach lengths she didn't expect. “Damn, baby you’re driving me crazy.” Lance frowned as he slammed harder into her, he was trying to match the rhythm but he wasn’t feeling it. He had been trying to convince himself to distract himself from what he truly felt, but he was disgusted. Despite her shameless moans of pleasure, the very sexy body of the woman in his arms, and the sweet sensation that filled him from the connection between them. The only person he could picture underneath himself was Cassandra, and the fact that he was here screwing a random woman who wasn’t his cous
“Do you know how to use a computer?” Blake asked curiously, and Cassandra shook her head but the optimism never left her eyes. He led her into his office and then shut the door behind her.“No, but I don't mind learning.” She answered with a small smile. “You don't know how to use a computer.” He muttered again, nodding his head, and then he wondered what kind of life she had lived with her uncle and his family. Knowing how to use a computer is one of the basic skill any person could have. And they were so educated and sort of well off, their excuse can't be that they didn't have money to afford one for Cassandra. There was something off about them, and Cassandra is most definitely trying to cover them. Blake fell into deep thoughts as he wondered how to unravel their secret.“Your cousins, can they use a computer?” he decided to ask instead. “Yes,” she answered with a small smile. “Lena is a computer engineer in the making. She spends most of the time on her laptop.
“Good morning!” Cassandra yelled in a small panic as she hurried down the stairs. She was all dressed up even though she had woken up later than usual. Blake was already downstairs having his breakfast; he glanced up at her and set down the mug in his hands.“You woke up late.” He remarked as she joined the table. “I was worrying you might miss your first day at work.”“Huh, sorry,” she muttered as she quickly picked up her toast and began nibbling on it.“There is no need to rush,” he noticed her fast movement and stopped her. “You will have indigestion if you continue like that.”“Um. Okay,” she muttered with her mouth half-filled with food. A small smile reached Blake’s lips as he continued scrolling on his iPad. There was a deep sense of completion that talking to Cassandra gave him. He never expected his marriage to go so well, their late-night conversations flooding him again. He started coughing.“Are you okay?” Cassandra questioned, her eyes staring at him innocently. “Do you
Blake tilted the bottle slightly, taking thirsty gulps from the bottle."They said you were gay," she confessed; he nearly choked on the water he was drinking. Spraying the content from his nose and mouth.“Are you okay?” she queried, then hurried to find a napkin. While Blake was coughing seriously, hitting one hand on his chest. “I’m sorry.”“I am… cough… fine.” He takes the napkin from her and wipes his mouth and the table he is sitting at. “Where did you hear such crazy news?”She shrugged. Her eyes moved from side to side nervously; she had heard it from her uncle but didn’t want to put him in trouble.“The internet.” She answered; it wasn’t entirely a lie. She had surfed the internet to confirm her uncle’s accusations.“You see, Cassandra, there are many crazy people on the internet.” He started in a softer voice as he handed her the napkin when he finished cleaning with it. She hurried back to the counter to prepare some plates. “You shouldn’t believe everything you see.”“I kn
“You don’t have to keep it from me,” she said convincingly. “I know you have a mental illness.”Blake’s eyes widened in surprise, and it took all it had in him to not laugh. That was one of the worst rumors.“There are a lot of things I know, but I believe nobody is perfect.” She proceeded in a small, innocent voice. “And now that I got you know, I realized you are not always like that, and you’re pretty nice, too.”Surprise was an understatement.Blake was flabbergasted. He knew a lot of rumors flew around because of the way he had associated himself with some people he got involved with. But of all the rumors he had heard, this one was by far the worst, and he was curious to know more.“Oh, my god…” He blurted with a deep breath, making Cassandra’s eyes narrow curiously.“Are you okay?” she rushed towards him, and Blake buried his head slightly.“I was hoping to hide that from you,” He said painfully, turning his face away from her, and Cassandra felt bad. She figured how difficult
Cassandra let out a shaky breath as she got into her room, her heart pounding uncontrollably in her chest. Chest. Blake had walked her up to her room, but he received a phone call and told her to go in first. She hoped he would stay a little longer. She wanted to thank him for standing up for her even when she least expected it, and she wanted to clear things up as well. She never tried to seduce Dimitri. It was the other way around. She couldn’t ever forget the horror that flooded her when she found a boy in the ladies' washroom. And it made it worse when she realized he had come looking for her.She shut her eyes and shook her head while running water from the bathroom faucet, and she washed her face. She lay in bed, hoping to fall asleep, but it was impossible to sleep because her stomach felt uncomfortable. She let out a small sigh, and she then remembered that she barely touched her dinner. She twisted and turned, but she wasn’t able to find comfort in the bed.“Ooou, I am so hun
