Alice's POV

I woke to the sound of someone clearing their throat. My eyes landed on Simone who was smiling and staring at me with amusement on his face.

It was then I noticed Liam's arm around my body. He was so close to me that there was practically no space between our bodies.

I tried removing his arm but he held my body tighter in response. I sighed and just turned to Simone.

"What do you want, Simone, "I asked him.

"It's almost time for the ball and you'll be late."

"I didn't plan on going early before," I said. "Now, leave me alone, I need to get ready." He smiled, shook his head, and left.

I managed to remove Liam's arm from my body. I tapped him gently, trying to wake him up in a sane way but he wasn't moving and I knew it would take a while for him to wake up.

Not wasting time, I grabbed the bottled water sitting on the side table beside me.

I was about to empty the water on him when he grabbed the water from my hand and dropped it beside the bed.

I stopped in front of our ride and couldn't help but admire the beauty in front of me.I eyed the car trying to see if I could get Liam to allow me to drive the car. I remember stealing my father's Ferrari when I was just getting exposed to the mafia world.I came back with the car and the condition of the car was so bad that I didn't sleep in the house for days. I can't even explain what father did to me after. I chuckled as I remembered.I turned and saw Liam behind me watching me carefully. "Can I drive?" I asked, giving him an innocent face. "No, darling." He smirked and got into the car. I furrowed my eyebrows and huffed in anger.I was really mad that he decided to listen to Alek. Alek had to really spoil this for me. Alice's POVAs we made our way down the stairs hand in hand, I saw fear in the eyes of most people. It was no news that the both of us were married. The news spread like wildfire but we didn't invite anybody from the Mafia because we wanted it to be private. Some Ladies gave me hateful glares but smiled when our eyes came in contact. Even the married ones were also mad but that's their headache. They weren't even my problem. I just want to be done with the party and go back home. Liam led me to our table and he held out a chair for me to sit on. Not even a minute later a chubby man came to welcome us dressed in the most ridiculous dress ever, the colors were blinding and I almost swore at him."Liam, Alice, welcome. For a moment I thought you weren't going to come again." He said. "Trust me, I was considering it, and by the way Lucas, don't you think the colors you've decided to wear are causing our eyes so much stress?" I joked.Liam chuckled beside me. Lucas looked at me with

I guess anyone can come to these events nowadays."I narrowed my eyes, wondering what this woman wanted from me. "Can I help you with something?" I asked, trying to keep my tone civil. The woman laughed, tossing her long hair over her shoulder. "Oh, I just wanted to come over and say hello," she said, her tone sweet as honey. "I heard you were dating Liam now. How cute."I felt a surge of anger rise up inside me. Who did this woman think she was, coming over to talk down on me like this? She was in for a long thing now."I don't think we've met before," I said, my voice cold and detached. "What's your name?"The woman smiled, her eyes glinting with malice. "Oh, you don't need to know my name," she said. "I'm just here to warn you, honey. Liam's mine, and he always will be. So you might as well give up now and save yourself the embarrassment."I felt a surge of fury course through m

As Alek and I chilled together on my table, I saw two men head towards us. I saw that Alek was about to handle the situation but I signqlled to him to stop. I took a deep breath, ready to handle whatever these two men had to say. They approached me with smug expressions on their faces, clearly thinking they could talk down to me just because I was a woman.""Hey, babe," one of them said, smirking at me. "We heard you're the new boss in town. We just wanted to come say hi and offer our services." His friend chuckled and added, "Yeah, we could be useful to you. We know the streets better than anyone."I raised an eyebrow at them, unimpressed. "And why should I trust you?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. The first man shrugged. "Because we're good at what we do. And because we know better than to cross you." He smirked again, clearly thinking he was charming me.I had no patience for their disrespectful behavior. "First of all, don't call me babe," I said, my voice cool and co

Liam's POV Alice was right when she complained about Lucas' clothes. It was blinding. As I mingled with the guests at the ball, I noticed Lucas making his way towards me. He had a sly smile on his face. I don't know what this business is about but he seems to be very excited about it. So he went to get some champagne."Hey Liam, so how has business been? I hope Alice isn't stressing you too much?" Lucas greeted me as he arrived at my side with more champagne "Things are good, Lucas and don't let Alice hear that. What's on your mind?" I replied, curious about what he wanted to discuss.Lucas chuckled and leaned in closer, his eyes gleaming with excitement."I've got a new shipment business I want to carry out in the mafia, and I need your connection to make it happen."I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by his proposal. "What kind of shipment are we talking about?""Drugs, Liam," Lucas said bluntly. "It's a good business, but the profits are huge. And I think we could make a killing if

Liam's POVI turned only to see that it was a young lady who had slipped and fallen to the ground. Being the gentleman that I was, I stretched my hand and helped her up. "Oh, thank you so much." She said with so much fear in her voice. She seemed to be riled up. She didn't look like someone that should be in this kind of ball. She looked too innocent to be here. "Are you alright?" I asked her, trying to see if I could help her. "Uhmmm…" she stuttered checking behind her with fear. I looked in the direction she was looking and noticed a disgusting young man staring at her with a frown on his face.He was coming closer and the young girl wasted no time running to stand behind me."Please help me. I got lost in the crowd trying to find my brother when that guy grabbed me.I don't know him from anywhere, please just help me." She whispered behind me. She seemed to be really on the edge. I just whispered to her to calm down and waited for the guy to get closer to us. I took a careful

Liam's POV Alice stood up as I walked to her side. I missed her for just the little time I was away with Lucas. I couldn't help but pull her close to my body, placing a peck on her cheeks. We were both affected by each other's touch. I was well aware that people were staring at us, but I don't give a fuck about them. "So what are we looking at here?" I asked her. "It's just a game of cards. I trust you. So, I'll just leave you to it." I sat at the card table, surrounded by Lucas and some of the other Dons. Alice had left the room but had made me play a game of cards. I don't why she has so much Faith in me that I could win but I loved that. I could feel the eyes of the men on me, assessing my every move. I was on guard but didn't give anything away with my expression. They all feared me because I was untouchable. They also knew better than to cross me. Thinking about it, I now understand why Alice wanted me to play with them, the silly girl loves to rile everyone. This wil

Alice's POV Lucas brought out a big box filled with all kinds of knives, and I couldn't help but marvel at the assortment. The ball had taken a rather unusual turn, and the final game of the evening was knife-throwing. The catch? The couples had to participate. The men were to stand as the target while their wives threw the knives. The women had to make sure the knife didn't touch their husband, and the game would end once all the knives in the box were used up. It was a terrifying prospect, and I watched as the guests started shivering in fear. I wasn't scared, though. I found the whole situation amusing, and I was sure Liam did too. We were Dons, after all. We were supposed to be fearless. As the game began, I watched with bated breath as the first couple took their turn. They threw the knives with such force, I was convinced they were going to kill each other. But somehow, they managed to avoid any injuries, and the game continued. Then it was the Kayles' turn. Everyone knew th
