Alice's POV

As I slept in the guest bedroom at Alek's home, I found myself tossing and turning, unable to find a comfortable posture to sleep.

It was one of those evenings when my mind refused to settle down, and my ideas kept running through my brain. Frustrated, I decided to give up on sleep and take refuge in the calm of the living room.

I slid out of the room, careful not to make any noise and wake Alek and Emily, who were comfortably sleeping in their own bedroom.

The home was faintly illuminated, producing gentle shadows throughout the corridor. I made my way to the pleasant living room, thinking that a change of environment would help quiet my restless thoughts.

Sinking onto the luxurious sofa, I exhaled deeply, feeling the weight of fatigue tugging at my eyelids. The stillness of the room enveloped me like an old friend, and for a minute, I delighted in the alone.
