Chapter 2: A note.
The next day. The sunlight peeped through the curtain, shining its beautiful light inside. It cast on Ava's beautiful face, showing off her beauty.
Ava squinted her eyes before finally opening them slowly. She closed it back instantly and the glaring sun pierced her eyes. She used her hand to block the sunlight and sat straight on the bed. She moved away to avoid the sunlight and moved to the other side of the bed.Images of what happened last night flooded her mind and she widened her eyes in shock. SHE SPENT A NIGHT WITH A STRANGER.
She ran her hand through her hair in frustration. It's like escaping from a lion's den and entering a wolf's mouth. Though it's fine that she didn't spend the night with four men last night. But she was still deflowered in the end. She didn't even know the beast she spent the night with. Her eyes scanned the entire place, and she was surprised to see that she was in a luxurious room. This alone shows that she spent a night with one of the rich heirs.
The guy must be crazy. She remembered how he was rough with her last night. Despite her being a virgin, he still did not hold back and was thrusting into her with no mercy. Now Henry will be disappointed in her when he finds out she’s no longer a virgin. She always rejected Henry whenever he tried to kiss or hug her, saying they would do that on their wedding night. Now everything is gone. Her virginity was taken away by an unknown man.
Her eyes fell on the mirror, and she almost screamed when she saw her body was covered with hickeys.
"That bastard." She cursed under her breath. Her clothes were already ruined. Fortunately, she found a new cloth at the edge of the bed. The guy is a little reasonable after all. At least, he prepared a dress for her before he disappeared.
She can't stay here forever. She needs to go home. It's still early after all. She slipped out of bed and almost fell when her feet touched the ground. She's very sour down there. There is no doubt that the guy was full of energy. He must be a beast.
She managed to drag herself to the bathroom and take a quick shower. Fortunately, the guy didn't prepare a revealing cloth for her but a turtleneck instead. No one will know where she was coming from with this. Her blood stain was visible on the white bed.Just as she was about to leave, her eyes caught a note on the table and a black card beside it. Out of curiosity, she picked up the note and the black card.
On the note it read "Contact me whenever you need my help."
"What the heck?" That was the word that escaped Ava's lips. Who does he think he is? After deflowering her. He disappeared and only left a note. That jerk. She checked the black card and only found a number on it. No name. No picture. The only thing on the card is the man's number. The man is definitely weird. There is no doubt about that. She didn't want to see the jerk who took advantage of her drunken state and deflowered her. There is no way she will call him. She would just consider it a normal one-night stand. They will have nothing to do with each other again in the future, anyway.
She wanted to drop the card but changed her mind the next second. It won't hurt if she keeps the card anyway. She checked her phone and saw she had already missed eight missed calls from Abigail. Her best friend. No one called her except Abigail. She decided to call Abigail when she reached home. She shoved the phone in her bag and ran out of the place. She needed to get home on time so no one would notice she was missing.
****She sucked in a deep breath before stepping into the house. She knew she would get scolded again by her foster parents. She might be lucky if they did not hit her like they used to. She dragged some air into her lungs and stepped inside the house.
She was surprised to hear laughter and giggles coming from the living room. Out of curiosity, she entered the living room and was surprised to see a strange man with her parents in the dining room. They all directed their gazes at her when they noticed her presence.
There is no way she will escape now that she has been caught. She sucked in a deep breath to calm herself.
"Good morning Father. Good morning Mother". She greeted.
"Morning." Mr Smith replied dryly "Where have you been?" He questioned. She was at a loss for words for a moment. She tried her best not to walk in any funny way, so they wouldn't notice anything suspicious.
"Just let her be. Maybe she went to sleep over at her friend's house. You know her friend that used to come to this place to sleep over," Mrs Smith said, and she let out an awkward laugh.
Ava couldn't explain what was going on. But one thing was clear, they were trying to hide the fact that she was being maltreated."Hey, come here, Ava. Won't you come and have your breakfast?" Mr Smith said and flashed her a smile.
Ava dragged some air into her lungs and walked over to them. She took her seat beside the middle-aged man who had come to visit them. She would rather sit beside a stranger than sit beside any one of the two. She wondered why a guest would come this early in the morning. Not like she cares though. This is not her house after all. She was only adopted, and she was not treated like a real child. She did not even spare the middle-aged man a glance.
Chapter 3: I'm cutting ties with you. "So you know who the man here is?" Mr Smith suddenly asked and Ava's hand froze on the teacup. She didn't feel like eating anything since she trusted no one in the Smith family. She always got the food done by herself since she didn't want to be poisoned. She raised her head slowly and her eyes met with Mr Smith's "No, I don't." She replied curtly. Her voice was a little cold and distant. "He is Mr Andrew. The owner of AN corporation. I guess you know him." He added, and Ava directed her gaze at the man. She did not look at him earlier, so she didn't know who she was even sitting with. As her eyes saw the man, her eyes widened in in shock. He turned out to be someone she knew. Everyone was curious about him. He is a notorious criminal who has different kinds of crime records. Everyone seems to know who Andrew is. He is always known for doing many illegal things and is a bloodthirsty man. Ava wondered what a man like him was doing here in the S
Chapter 4: Heartbreak. "Mom, Dad, Ava, I'm so sorry. I am pregnant with Henry. We both found out we were in love with each other. I am so sorry Ava, it was not my intention to take your boyfriend. But I can't stop my feelings from growing further. You can scold me, you can curse me, but please don't blame Henry. It was my fault. I'm sorry I have to do this to you sister", she said, and tears flowed down her face freely. She looked so pitiful and miserable at that moment. Ava couldn't believe her ears. She thought it was a prank. But when she saw the seriousness in Henry's eyes, she believed they were not joking. Her body trembled all over. She found it hard to digest what she had just heard. So Henry has been cheating on her with her sister. She loves Henry so much and will do anything for him. So 2 years of relationship has finally come to an end. After being loyal and faithful to him. All she got in the end was betrayal. She loved him so much, and she remained an obedient girlfri
Chapter 5: Mess."From today, henceforth, I have nothing to do with you again," Ava said through her gritted teeth."Are you dumping me? I will make you regret this.* I promise." he sneered at her."Sure it will be my pleasure," she responded."Enough of this drama, all of you. So Ava, you are fooling around with old men for money, I really can't believe this." Mrs Smith snorted "You will have to stop all those shameless acts since you are getting married tomorrow. Henry and Lily are already together so it will be fair if we also find you a man," Mrs Smith said with a smirk. She was happy that her daughter got to capture Henry's eyes. His family was also well off, and they were well respected in the city. It will be a huge help to their business. They will soon be among one of the top ten richest families in the country. The thought alone brought a smile to her face. "I already told you that I'm not marrying Mr Andrew or whatever his name is. Did you call that one help? You don't nee
Chapter 6 :Who are you? It's not like she's curious about him though. The only thing on her mind is how to get herself out of the trouble she's in. The cloud suddenly turned grey, showing that it was about to rain. Ava walked over to the veranda and sat on the floor. She watched as the rain began to pour. She watched as the raindrop touched the ground, making a faint sound. Her heat felt heavy. The only person she could consider her family was none other than Abigail. The girl always stood by her, no matter what the situation was. She's her backbone. She acted like her mother, her sister, and her guardian. Abigail always told her to quit working at the bar, but she wouldn't listen. She didn't want to pressure Abigail with her matter. She also wanted to be a supportive friend but not a liability to her. She's not used to relenting on others before she can live. If not for Abigail. Her life would have been so lonely and miserable. There is no way Abigail will have ten million dollars.
Chapter 7: "this way, miss"Ava stared at the dead screen for a while. This man is really unbelievable. He did not even wait for her response before he ended the call. That's not the important thing right now, though. She needed to get herself out of the trouble she was in. She quickly sent her address to the number. The man might change his mind if she took too long before sending the account number to him. Some minutes later. Seven cars stopped in front of Ava. Several bodyguards got out of the car. A look of surprise crossed Ava's eyes. Who are these people? Their faces are so frightening. Did they come for her life? Did Henry send them to take her life? Or is it her family? No. There is no way it will be any of them. They are not rich enough to be able to hire all these men. Or is it Mr Andrew? No, he is not the one. Mr Andrew would rather send some hooligans to get her, not these rich bodyguards. Or is it..."Miss, please get in the car." One of the men in the black suit said. I
Chapter 8: Ten million dollars He is the most handsome man she has ever seen in her entire life. She's one hundred percent sure that he's the most handsome guy on earth. There is no way anyone can be more handsome than this. So she gets the chance to spend a night with this Adonis. Is this guy even a human? How can a guy be this handsome? She was sure every girl would be praying to have a one-night stand with him. So should she consider herself lucky? This guy is so freaking hot and freaking handsome. He is just too handsome. This guy is the real definition of beauty. He also had some feminine features that added more to his charm.Ava couldn't get her eyes off him, and she seemed to be daydreaming again in her fantasy world."Can you please get your eyes off me?" The cold, terrifying voice of the man brought her back to life. Her cheeks turned red instantly out of embarrassment. She was caught red-handed while staring at him. She didn't know why everywhere was so cold. The man was e
Chapter 9: Since you slept with me, you must take responsibility. They both remained in that position for some seconds. Ava is afraid she will suffocate to death if this does not stop."Are you sure he won't come after you again if you returned the bride's price?" He asked. His voice was cold and terrifying.Ava nodded her head instantly. "Yes. I'm sure of that.""How naive of you," the man said, and his lips curved upward slightly, forming a smirk "He will come after you even if you return the bride price. I'm sure he will lay another trap for you which you will foolishly fall into. The only thing to avoid this is to get married to someone else. Let's get married." Ava widened her eyes in shock when she heard what the man said. She couldn't believe her ears. Are her ears playing tricks on her? This is too shocking to be real. Though the guy before her is so handsome. He is freaking handsome, to be precise. But how will she be able to survive with this kind of man? He is so scary,
Chapter 10: Surprise Who knows if he will kill her soon? She's so scared right at that moment. She still finds it hard to believe that she's already married. They both walked out of the building. Damien walked over to his car and Ava followed behind obediently. She looks so basic and timid. She was still in shock that she was already married. This is so fucking hard for her to believe.Damien entered the car and waited for the girl to also get in. He furrowed his brow when the girl didn't move. And it looked like she was lost in thought."Are you going to stand there forever and not get in?" He asked l. Pulling Ava out of her thoughts. Her face turned into a shade of red."Please. Can I visit my family first? I need to cut ties with them first. And I need to show them my marriage certificate. Also, can you let one of your men follow me? They are cunning and deceitful. They might want to take advantage of me," she said. She was very careful with her words so she would not anger the de
Chapter 110: What Have You Done?Damien stirred from his sleep. He hated the nightmares that were befalling him that night. Images of Ava reaching out and begging him for help danced through his mind. The images filling his head were so unsettling that he rose with a start and glanced at the other side of the bed. It was empty and it caused his heart to jump in panic. “Ava?” He called out into the dim room, hoping she was in the bathroom. There was no response and this officially got him worried. “Ava, where are you?” He called out as he stood up from his bed and walked around the room, glancing around for any sign of his room. He was about to walk into the bathroom when he noticed that the bedroom door wasn’t properly locked. Taking a deep breath, he walked out of the room and immediately heard the sound of struggling and gulping. Instinctively, he headed to the balcony where the hot tub was located and the sight that greeted him caused bile to form in his mouth and his stomach to
Chapter 109: I Will Take Care Of Everything “Thank you so much for defending me against Regina. I wasn’t in the mood for a fight and was thinking of the best way possible to get away from her.” She thanked him as their vehicle sped along the highway. “Hey, it is nothing. You are my wife, and I ought to protect you at all costs. It was too bad that she tried to hurt you. If you want, I can get her arrested. It would be nice to teach her some lesson so she doesn’t try this ever again.” He said. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach at his words. She would never have believed that a day would come when he would defend her so greatly, like today. “So, what made you leave Dr. Xavier’s office? Did she call you out or something?” He asked as he maneuvered the car through a bend. “No. I intended to gift the good doctor something. If it wasn't for him, you and would most likely not be together anymore. I am so grateful to him and just thought I should get him something. Unfortunately, I le
Chapter 108: What’s Going On Here?Ava glanced around the whole space, thinking of how best to avoid Regina and the trouble she was promising. If she wasn’t in a haste to get back to Damien and Dr. Xavier, she would have taken the time to be trashy to the woman in front of her. “You look so scared like you want to run away. Well, you know what? It is best you run away because what I intend to do to you is terrible.” Regina hissed and menacingly towered over Ava. “Regina, I wish we could roll on the floor and drag our hair at each other, but I do not have the time for that. I have to go. I will see you some other time.” She answered and tried to make a beeline for the elevator, but Regina’s gait and agility were faster than her reflexes. Regina threw her to the floor in one fast move. Ava felt her head spin as pain exploded in her head. She was momentarily dizzy, and the pain traveled down her body, causing her to ache. Gosh, she had been trying to avoid trouble, and yet it came to
Chapter 107: Just My ManAva watched what used to be her family walk out of the office. They were all smiles even after agreeing to Damien's condition in a heartbeat. “What is wrong? You look like you have seen a ghost.” He asked her as he grabbed her into his arms. She settled into his warm body and laid her head on his chest. His heartbeat was steady and strong, promising her that everything was going to be okay. She desperately wanted to believe that, but not with the amount of money he had just thrown out to her family. When he had said that he had a condition for her family before giving them the money, she had thought it was something serious, only for him to demand that the Smiths make a minimum of 50 percent return on the amount he was going to give them. Her family had readily taken it and signed a contract, confident that they were going to get their business up and running in optimal capacity with the sum he had given them. "I may have not seen a ghost, but I just watc
Chapter 106: ShamelessDamien glanced at the Smith family and took in a few breaths to center himself. He didn't want to do anything crazy, especially not with Ava around. He wanted to protect her, including from himself. “Despite all the good you have done for my wife, which we are both grateful for, I don’t think I can help. You see, I just recovered from a coma and my business is yet to pick up. Hopefully, some other time, I would be able to help.” He said with a forced smile. Ava let out a breath certain that this should be enough to dissuade her family from asking him for money, but she was wrong. They all stared at each other and chuckled lightly. “Mr. Silver, you seem to forget who you are. You are not just the richest billionaire in New York, you are the richest in the world. No matter how bad your business goes, you would definitely have a heavy sum to help us with.” Mr. Smith said. Ava could not believe the shamelessness of her adoptive father. He was still asking for mo
Chapter 105: Your Word Is My LawAva can’t say how it happened, but before the door swung open, she and Damien were fully dressed with her leaning against the table with a pen in her hand. “There he is. I told you he would be expecting us.” Lily announced to the security guards who were trying to prevent her and her family from coming into the office. Ava’s countenance immediately changed on seeing her adoptive family here. Wasn’t it clear that they no longer had anything in common and she owed them nothing? Why was she also saying that Damien was expecting them? "Good day, sir. They came in and insisted that they wanted to see you. The receptionist informed them that they needed to get an appointment first before they could get an audience with you, but they were so adamant that you were expecting them. We tried to stop them, but…" One of the guards explained with a shrug. Damien raised his hand in the air, stopping the guard and all the noise that was filtering into his office.
Chapter 104: Get Used To ItAva walked into Silver Cooperation with a spring to her steps. She had refused to believe Damien when he told her she was coming with him to the office that morning. She had thought it would be against his ethics to have her work with him as it is now public knowledge that the both of them are married. Moreover, he wasn't fully recovered yet. He still had some appointments with the doctor. “Good morning, Mr. Silver.” The employees on sight all bowed to him as he walked into the office building. “Good morning, Mrs. Silver.” They all followed suit with her. She was momentarily shocked by the gesture as this was the first time anyone was ever bowing to her. All her life, she had done the bowing to other people and made to do dirty jobs. She spun around watching the employees all bow down to her. Despite how much she wanted to get acquainted with it, it still felt surreal to her. “Hey, get used to it. You are the boss’s wife.” He beamed at her. The recepti
Chapter 103: Talk To Me.Ava stepped into the hot tub and let out a breath. It has been hours since she returned to Mr. Silver’s house. In this short while, she has been treated with so much respect that she had never for once imagined possible. She settled into the hot bubbling water and the stress and tension of the day eased off her body in no time. Despite the calm that was settling into her muscles and bones, a recurring question was dancing through her head - why did Mr. Silver want her back? She still couldn't wrap her head around how fast he had switched. The first thing he had said to her after waking up was that he never wanted to see her again around him and days later, he had come begging at her doorstep. Something had to have led to his change of heart and she really needed to know why. "Someone looks to be lost in so many thoughts." He whispered in her ear as his hands snaked up her waist and pulled her barely covered buttcheeks to his groin. A satisfying sigh escape
Chapter 102: Super AngryIf she could, Sophia would have died from the sight in front of her. This was impossible. It was not supposed to be happening. How was Ava back at their house and worse of all, she was in her brother’s arms, clutching tightly to him. “Damien, what is this woman doing here?” She pulled her brother away from Ava. Her eyes shot daggers at Ava and if looks could kill, Ava would have fallen dead at this point. “What do you mean by that? She is my wife. She is meant to be here. This is where she belongs.” He answered his sister. “But…” She tried to object when Damien raised up a hand signaling that there was no need for her to talk at all. "No buts, Sophia. My wife is back home and the same respect you accord to me, you must accord the same respect to her." He ordered. Sophia glared at her brother and the smug smile on Ava's face only managed to make her super angry. The little snake she had tried to keep away from her brother was back in her life. "Damien, wh
